  • That's an amazing work.

But we're playing this now and I know that this is "Concert for 4 violins and a cello", I want to thanks the cellist here for a great job, I mean, he did it perfectly. I'm the solo cellist and I know it's difficult to play, but that is amazing work done.

Thank you very much anonymous cellist!

  • Bravo!!

  • 4:09 looked badass cause their bows were all together for the most part

  • Lol at 3:05 doesnt he look completely insane?

    Also awkward moment at 3:40-3:45...

  • @Tgedz98

    Not 3:05 sorry!!!!

    3:25

  • 22 people dont like life.

    (btw this isnt a threat!!!)

  • @Tgedz98 make that 23. This is not "life", this is a chaotic hodge-podge of styles with little or no prior practice playing together.

When you get too many cooks, the dish: well, it's garbage.

They better off go their own ways and perform separately; this fiasco hurts their reputation.

  • @PiroozAzDirooz

How could you say this!!! They are amazing, although I will agree the soloists cant count so well, but otherwise they are amazing. Could you play this better? what musical qualifications do you have?

  • @Tgedz98 They are amazing, yes; amazingly bad together. better as soloists.

Is this a job interview? LOL

  • @PiroozAzDirooz

Might be... haha they are a bit in their own world but still brilliant

  • @Tgedz98 LOL: Happy Holidays to you and them wherever they may be now,

  • This is my alltime fave piece!!

    Its spectacularly polyphonic in places.

    Vivaldi is brill

  • Wow... 03:40 to 4:05

  • Trancendant and superb.

  • When you get all these virtuousos together, what do you get? A terrible clash of styles and a bad peformace.

They better perform separately, not in a group.

    Terrible enough to be intolerable.

  • @PiroozAzDirooz

    How could you say that!!!!!!!!!!!

  • by the end, it looks like the conductor is dedicating the piece to god

  • why is it only showing my views?

  • Where is Pinchas Zukerman???

  • @superlukiluke no Zukerman, I know only Stern.

  • took me a while to find you ! awesome violins

  • Gosh, I just love Vivaldi's concerto for violins, when experienced musicians can play them! Playing this requires precise and solid attack, and the right tempo, these musicians are great!

  • We're playing this in my orchestra and I'm violin four...it's really not that hard!

  • @darkxsorrowfulxtears but it also depends on how well the parts merge together and how good the sound is. a professional violinist will be able to put more emotion into the music that someone who does not play as well. i can't even imagine playing the piece this well.

  • This piece is so incredible! All the notes coming together...its just so beautiful. And to be played by such a dream team!!! I love that Ida Haendel is in this. She really shines.

  • Sounds like a cancer ward at the end, holy crap lol

  • I like how the conductor is smiling. :-)

  • This video is verry good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Epic when it begins! Ps...whats up with all the coughing afterwards!? Thats epic too! Lmao

  • hahaha... too classical, bad version!

  • @jairo0892 Its what his expression called for in the music. If we limit ourselves to style and traditions in music instead of the beautiful expression the melodies were creating, do you think we would progress in anything in music, nay the world?

  • @jairo0892 True Music has no tradition, only a ladder for the soul to bring us closer to God. That is the true purpose of music.

  • @jairo0892 Excuse me mate. How are these instrumentists playing Vivaldi (1676-1741) in an excessively classical fashion? After all it is classical music, how is your statement even possible and how can you imply that it being too classical means this is a bad version on this classical piece. There are no arrangements done in this rendition. What you have said makes no sense.

  • @Neogenx616 Jairo has a point, by the bow strokes and articulations, they have indeed made this lean more towards classical than baroque. Granted, in order to truly play it as Vivaldi had intended, the orchestra would need to use period instruments. Back then, the bows and instruments were very much different than they are now. I don't think he intended to discredit the performance, but merely to point out that there are other recordings which place more emphasis on the baroque style.

  • i am playing this song for amadayes so at first its hard but now that i drield it down i can show them !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • it looks like its fast forwarded. haha. but i know this is the real speed.

  • That awkward moment when everyone claps before the song, and coughs when it ends..

  • this is bach 's concerto for 4 harpsichords not vivaldi .............it doesnt even sound like his style

  • No - it was originally Vivaldi - Bach re-arranged it for harpsichords - a great tribute to the Red Priest by someone who was himself one of the greatest composers of all time - JS Bach

  • @hirokikuriyama no, its vivaldi's. Vivaldi concerto for 4 in b Op. 3

  • @hirokikuriyama This is the Vivaldi original. Bach later arranged it and transposed it down a tone, adding new counterpoints and rearranging the parts.

  • @hirokikuriyama

If you think this doesn't sound like Vivaldi's style I'd say you need to listen to a LOT MORE Vivaldi. It sounds just like him. And anyway, since the Concerto form was started in Italy (by Corelli) Bach was not writing concerti in his earlier years like Vivaldi. Indeed, Bach modeled many of his concerti off of Vivaldi's writing.

Another example- The Bach double violin concerto in D minor, BWV 1043.

  • Can anyone tell me what the 3rd violin solo is like??? I have 2 play this in like 3 weeks and I want a heads up...plz!!! ;(

  • @iluvthebluesky226 The third violin solo is one the one that the woman is playing (including first and last solos). Hope it goes/went well

  • man... I have to learn this in 2 weeks for a performance with the CYSO... At least I get the best part 2nd soloist! First is too hard, 3 and 4 aren't much fun, but 2 is fun!

  • I like the head moves

  • Stupendo Vivaldi

  • I guess everyone was holding in their coughs until the end LOLOL

  • @hellososhi Que dire ? simplement divin ! le meilleur parmi les meilleurs.... The best in the bests

  • @hellososhi That time they were probably smoking very badly...

  • That was awesome!

  • Simply A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!

  • This is amazing! It is so beautiful!

  • badass

  • COOL!EXCELLENT!

  • This shit is absolutely bangin.

  • Excellent!

  • GENIAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • OMG This is so much fun to play. I played it it 8th grade. I was first violin. Wish I still had the music... :( What can I say I've been playing violin since I was 4.

  • Check Bach's take on it watch?v=QA1L0SsEXxU

  • Vivaldi concertos are the best...

  • I am a new listener to this type of music "baroque" i have to say it is amazing and inspiring i want to learn to play violin after listening to this!! it uplifts the soul , when this is playing i am free. Amazing performance.

  • @obione888 listen to bach's suit for cello :) remember violin isn't the only awesome instrument. Cello's are boss too

  • Isaac Stern still kicks ass....and I am an avid metalhead who also loves Vivaldi, to be absolutely clear!

  • Ida Haendel <3

  • evet ben çalıcam

  • Айзък Стърн е дзвер някакъв.

  • hey guys... why is that the old guy on the left have a hankie between his chin and his violin??? is it because he gets so engrossed in his music that his saliva tends to drip onto his violin??? Others don't have the hankie...guess the others have learnt to keep their puckers closed and under control well...... and why no clapping in the end... only coughing......this crowd is absolutely weird.......

  • @yustov Hankie is a comfort thing. Between the chin and chinrest, makes it softer, which judging by his posture is necessary. It is considered good etiquette not to clap between movements. It really does annoy me as a performer to have to wait for the audience to stop clapping before I transition into the second movement. Next time, before making lewd comments perhaps use your common sense a little.

  • @Daft0Shifty

Daft0Shity, for those who don't know, that is why the question is raise as this is a process of learning.Hey, any fool knows that. Next time u do not want to be annoyed, perform in an empty hall . You can play your heart out till eternity without being annoyed. Performer should remember, without audience, he is NOTHING. Next time you perform, firstly, warn your audience what annoys you ... let me know what happen coz I like to hear the "creative" comments the audience say to you

  • this is done so perfectly, great job... I'm playing this piece and man is it difficult .... especially because the people I'm playing with are like 15 year olds and so am I lol

  • @ApersonY how long have you been playing the violin?

  • @ApersonY A difficult Vivaldi piece? Preposterous!! Unheard of!!! Impossible!!! XD wait until you start playing Romantic concerto's, then you can call a piece difficult lol...

  • @death0personified

There are tons of difficult Vivaldi pieces... his "Four Seasons"?? and this is already a difficult enough piece

  • @ApersonY The Four Seasons aren't hard dude, sorry to inform you but most Vivaldi pieces aren't even considered standard repertoire. Like i said, look up romantic concerti. Oh and i wasn't trying to be rude with that last comment, i apologize if you took it that way but its just the truth :/

  • @death0personified What a fucking music snob faggot.

  • @foottothenuts Don't be an ass face man, its not snobbish its true. and wasn't trying to seem cocky it was more of a different perspective, can you really tell me that Vivaldi is more difficult than, lets say Mendelssohn?

  • @death0personified yes, you're being a totally pretentious snobby homo saying things like "Preposterous!! Unheard of!!! Impossible!!! "

We get it, you think being bisexual makes you artistic, well guess what, it doesn't.

  • @foottothenuts I was exaggerating with the words you-ass whole lmao. the post is really not that serious. Who said anything about my being bisexual? what would that possible have to do with anything? you have some issues man...

  • @death0personified Is doesn't matter if you are exaggerating. you sound like a snobby fuity pretentious twoon. I don't like you.

  • @foottothenuts ummm..... ok....... oh well.

  • @ApersonY

I agree, it is hard, but it is soo damn amazing, Ive been nagging my orchestra conductor to let us do this one for years now.

  • @Tgedz98

    Btw Im 13 so :P

  • @Tgedz98 haha thats awesome hope your conductor does do it, ive tried recording myself playing all 4 violin solo parts and it sounds soo cool all together but my mic kinda sucks ;/

  • @ApersonY

Aww harsh, haha sounds fun. Im really happy now as my conductors told me were doin it in the new year!!!! Shes given me violin 2 solo!!!! 3 looks more interesting but Im still ecstatic about it!

  • @Tgedz98 lucky, wish my conductor was like that in my school, she would never let us do anything pieces WE would want to play

  • @ApersonY

Haha harsh, although this is with the LYO, but my school orchestra is the same, he will only ever take suggestions from the sixth formers and he has favourites. he made us do the shostakovich overture for prizegiving. It was awful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • @Necare94 But coughing is an involuntary body function, how exactly can you suppress something that's beyond your control until a certain time?

  • The viola part in this song is so dominant. So powerful. So... deep. To die for. Tiffany did an awesome job...

  • Holy crap! The coming of the powerful !!

  • Coughing is the only acceptable form of applause in this region of the world.

  • @ubersouthpark And what about the tumultuous applause in the beginning? :)

  • @Xsathrie yea I know I fucked up

  • Ida Haendel <3

  • what is it with everyone coughing at the end? :|

  • @oishitomoro Because it would be rude to just cough randomly during a professional performance, so they hold them coughs in till the end :3

  • @2:22 What note does Ivry Gitlis did ? D:

  • No wonder why Vivaldi is my all time favourite composer.

  • Calm down everyone, just listen :) It is a very fine rendition, so please honour it with some civility :)

  • The woman plaus beautiful, however, she can use some botox :P

  • @TheVman551 Fuck you

  • @TheVman551 And she's not "the woman". She's Ida Haendel, a legend on violin, and you're a fucking nobody.

  • @Saraswati0183 i love how offended you get over a comment. This is the internet. i can say what i want. its my oppinion. so GET A FUCKING LIFE.

  • @Saraswati0183 oh and btw, im a nobody? so who are you to tell me that? no one. so shut the fuck up. thank you

  • La mejor interpreacion que he eschuchado!!!

  • My favourite performance of my favourite Vivaldi composition :) I listen to this concerto more than any other.

  • Bach es Bach como Vivaldi es Vivaldi.

  • Thank you.

  • Oh Dearie me... Hope that lady doesn't get too close to the next guy.. else she might unknowingly shove her fiddle into the other guy's nose... oooo!!! painful, I can tell ya...otherwise as usual.. great performance.. vivaldi my buddy

  • The Audience was playing their part in the baroque period... Apparently they didn't have good medicine back then, so there were many sick people... and when a concert is over, they don't clap... they cough to show their applause. >.<

  • Passion, precision, exuberance, beauty...this piece has it all-in spades!!

  • My teacher was Miss Ida Haendel. She thought me useful things about stage-appearance and playing with healthy force. I can see this back in this video.

You Tube is such a great medium. Thanks for your nice question and good luck!

  • this is my former teacher!

  • @OME10S Who and what was he/she like?

  • i felt like god himself wrote this piece. absolutely incredible

  • In Civilization it was better :(

  • @ANvicking23 if its so bad why did you listen to it?

  • @shakkedi I think he meant "bad" as in "good."

  • WOW....BRAVO

  • pinchas zukerman ???

  • Some people really dislike this... ???

  • R.I.P Isaac Stern

Your music will forever be remembered

Please take this time to pray for him

    God Bless

  • If you are a member of the BSS Advanced Ensemble, thumbs-up this comment.

  • Is Pinchas Zukerman playing in the orchestra or what ? :-)

  • I love how like everybody starts coughing right when the music ends. Vivaldi has that power, he can make you hold your *cough* breath.

  • Wow my favourite music, its an honour to be able to play the first violin part of this piece :)

  • i would've killed to be there if i were alive at that time...

  • Vivaldi Concerto for Four Violins ** AND CELLO **

Why forgetting one of the soloists ?

  • @pierrot79 The cello is not a solo instrument in this piece. It is just a member of the basso continuo.

  • @violatione I do not agree. There is a "violoncello concertante" (different from the "violoncello di ripieno"), with parts of virtuosity.

  • @pierrot79 How many solos does the "concertino" cello have in this work? I can only think of a short one in the first movement. It's a basso continuo part that rarely peeks out of the fabric of the piece, whereas the violin parts contain many true solos.

  • @violatione In third movement, for instance.

I do not say cello part is as important or virtuose than the violin ones, but the fact is there is a "violoncello concertante" part, and the title of the piece gives the cello as concertante instrument.

To make an analogy, does the fact that 1st violin part in mozart quartets are usually more virtuose allow you to say they are "violin concerto" with continuo ?

  • @violatione And the name on the score is 'Concerto in si minore per quattro violini, violoncello ed orchestra"

  • chi "stecca" a 0:42 ???

  • one of the most impeccable pieces ever written and no doubt my favorite vivaldi. :)

  • why old people? they look scary when they move like robots. -_-

  • all Jewish players (and Mehta too...)... you wouldn't see other players with them.... it's sad to say, but they are a kind of "mafia"....

  • @gaemp DUH of course they're Jewish. It's the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. l2read kthx

  • @gaemp Mehta isn't Jewish.

  • @andreasamati "culturally" yes!

  • @gaemp You have a problem with that?

  • @andreasamati absolutely not, but what I wrote in my first comment is a fact

  • BRAAAAAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Buenísimo!

  • And so we played this concert

  • the coughing at the end made me laugh......great performance, though

  • This is just faaaaaaaaaantastic ;-) Bravo...

  • where is zukerman ?

  • @classicalmusic1000 yes, you are right...:)))))

  • Fantastic

  • waw :D

  • Congratulations, you have just built Isaac Newton's College!

  • @Cabahomi lol, the vids were the best part about the game

  • @Cabahomi

    loooool i just did :D

  • @Cabahomi lol, I wonder why Yo Yo Ma does not play continuo cello :)

  • I would have loved to have been there in person!

  • Absolutely beautiful. Did not until know that this was by Vivaldi (thinking about Bach concerto for four harpsichords)

  • I like this piece better when Bach transcribed this piece for 4 harpsichords better... no offense.

  • This performance was wrong on the DVD, also. It is Isaac Stern, Ivry Gitlis, Ida Haendel, and Shlomo Mintz. It is wonderful music from the best! One of the other uploads has Shlomo Mintz as first violin with an older Zubin Mehta.

  • Go ivry gitlis!

  • I just played this, but I was the 2nd Viola part.

  • we're doing this and i'm the third violin solo

    XD

  • I am amazed!

  • Great preformance, our quartet is playing this song. I am playing 3rd violin and she sounds really, really great.

  • I like it! it sounds like birds. I am playing this piece with some of my friends now, and it is quite difficult.

  • Happy 332nd Birthday!

I bet you would have loved this performance!

  • I wish I were there...

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANTONIO VIVALDI!!!!! What an excellent performance. I especially loved Issac Stern and Ida Haendel. Vivaldi would have liked this interpretation. :)

  • That was amazing.

I must say the conductor made me laugh though. XD

  • Magnificent!!!!!!

    Thank you for sharing.

  • does anyone know where to get the sheetmusic for free? i really want to play this with my friends!! msg me!

  • its on imsp wikipedia's archives! have fun!

  • it's too slow for my liking.
