@Dimbark The Citadel is not visible during teleportation. The Citadel is in skybox, which is rendered in every place covered by tools/toolsskybox texture. It wasn't possible to hide it then, Valve did not make tools/toolsskybox2d texture (which shows only 2D skybox) at the time of Half-Life 2 development.

Reiterating what people are saying - Its the "scene" where you get teleported for a couple of seconds, while Dr Kliener is trying to teleport you to Black Mesa East. Valve hid that "scene" in A Red Letter Day, because that "scene" needs to be inserted somewhere and cannot be accessed again unless you use noclip.

I create areas like that when building levels, it's just a test area or a collection of items for a real time cut scene. Maby it's just been left over and the editor's forgot to delete it.

What it isn't is a portal to another world within the game that has happened because of ghosts in the machine or the Ai of the Gman going rouge inside your computer and building this area whilst you sleep!!!

#1 you can't copyright this. #2 this isn't a secret place or room as you teleport there with lamarr. You can find any number of rooms like this in any games - half life 2, quake 4, doom 3. Instead of making an entire level just to show a small room, you just have something like this written in to save space. It's like saying any room shown during an introduction sequence is a 'secret' if you no clip it. These rooms save loading times so the game is more fluid.

In a Commentary node in Episode 1, one of the developers mentions that in game cutscenes that dont take control of the game(indirect cutscen) happen on the map your in. Since the whole teleport failure is a "Indirect" cutscene, you can go up there with lamarr with you tele. This is also true about the lake with the Icthosaur. However, it will be completely still.

I think thats where Black Mesa was or is and the reason theres a citadel is because the citadel is in the skybox and suppost to be there when ure playing in the city so thats why the citadel is there and that might be where black mesa was because it took place in New Mexico or Nevda I can't remember but what I don't understand is how did he get all the way to Russia in Half Life 2 maybe G-man took him there by the train at the end of HL1 but Idk.
