Pigeons and doves eat from their mothers mouth not like other birds take plastic bag snip the end off and stick his mouth in never force food in a birds mouth
they eat from the moms throat basically, so you have to make something that the bird can stick its mouth into, then he will open his mouth and eat, i used a 2 tablespoon syringe (needless) and i cut the end off so its an open tube, then rubberband a peice of rubber, like the finger end on a rubber glove with a slit in it, then fill it up and the bird should eat out of that.
@coolman8000 We were thinking we would keep him because I didn't really think he was release-able, but he ended up deciding he was ready for a life on his own. I put seeds outside for him and the other birds daily.
You look good today! :) You're so kind to have brought him into your home. It's something new that can occupy your time. You're brave! I'd have gloves on and such. lol I'm just starting to watch the videos of your new friend so hopefully he's eating. If not I bet you could find other people out there online who have gone through similar situations. Ha, I'd be afraid the cat would eat the bird! Maybe the feeder thingie is too big? Well he's pooping so that's a good sign, I think.
Did he survive?
