federal law actually prohibits recruiters from lying...there was a female Marine who talked to her recruiter to get an MOS the recruiter told her shed get it. She graduated boot camp and found out that the recruiter had contracted her for something else and her contract stated she would get her desired MOS after her first 4 years, they took this to federal court and now federal law prohibits recruiters from lying. recruiters dont lie they just talk of all the pro and non of the cons

The assumption is always that the recruit will get the training they select, rather than be given something that the Army needs. Having worked in a high school most of my life, I know the recruiters routinely lie to students. The incentive is not to be sent back to the war zone for the second or third time. It is a terrible system, and the worst lie is that they won't be sent to the Middle East to fight. What is left of their lives when they come back is another crime. Without good job skills, wounded in body and mind, they often become homeless. One quarter of all homeless people in the US are vets.

Air Force, served thru '04 to just last year. Never been to Iraq, but did a whole bunch of Korea-themed exercises at home base. I would challenge these hippies to tell it to my face that I am nothing more than N. Korea missile fodder.
