I like it even though I can't help thinking that an awful lot of the later stuff that came out after Elvis died sounds more like P.J. Proby impersonating him...is that just my opinion?
Harika bir video, ses ve yorum ama sunu bilinki kral olmedi ,gercektede olmedi.Inanmayanlar tabutunda cekilen resmine iyice baksin o burun onun degil.Elvisin burnu hic oyle dugme gibi degildi ayrica neden fotografa izin verilmedi?Inanmayanlar youtube da onunla ilgili detayli arastirma yapsinlar.Ben 30 senedir onu dinliyorum olene kadarda dinlemekten zevk alacagim.
@jacksblack1 No, this was clearly a rehearsal, where he was trying to re-explore (and probably remember) the song to play live with the TCB band. They are improvising on the spot, especially the ending (Elvis says "we never had endings" in the original) - this is an unpolished version, never intended for us to judge. Elvis was singing in a relaxed, lazy manner, because it was a try-out. What would have been the point in singing full-on in a rehearsal and giving himself a sore throat for nothing?
@Keymeister Can I have my own opinion please? I know you are in a band and you know some Iconic cats. The TCB band and all. That is great! I just like the 60's Elvis better and everything he did. Clean Up Your Own Backyard was awesome and also Edge of Reality. Some say his movie soundtracks suck. We know they were 2nd rate songs. I think that now, some of his soundtracks are gaining popularity and with me as well. I like the raw version of this sound. RAW... Peace be with you and yours.
@jacksblack1 You surely can have your own opinion, and I respect it far more now you've expanded on your original four-word version! I wasn't trying to defend this 70s version as being better than the 60s at all; I was just seeing it from a performer's point of view - sometimes things can be idly thrown around in rehearsal. I think that's the inherent problem when "rare" clips like this are unearthed and taken out of context, instead of remaining on the cutting room floor. Thanks for the debate.
OH MY GOD...What's better??? Young wild Elvis shredding the hell out of it?? Or a 1970 mature Man Elvis killing it with his sultry smoothness? Impossible choice!!!!! Why is this so damn short!!!!
The Only And Real King! Elvis Presley The King of Music Elvis singed Rock,Pop,Gospel,Blues,Country,Soul,Christmas and Children`s Songs KING OF MUSIC!
Elvis would hate that you said that. Crudup was one of his big influences and he once said "If I can get inside to what old Crudup felt, I would be a music man like no other)
He produced his own work before many people did. Not other peoples work.
Your missing the main part of being a singer is the Voice. Plus being good looking, having a great personality and could perform on stage. Played Guitar and Piano. He changed the way the world looked at music!
A song is words and music on a piece of paper . A performer gives it life . Check out the music scene that existed Worldwide before Elvis came on the scene and check it out after. If you still dont dont get it then obviously you have something missing .
manley- why dont you search youtube and listen to the original Baby lets Play House. Elvis completely changed the tempe, style and rhythm of the song. As far as crediting, Arthur Gunter who wrote and performed the song ( it was only a minor local hit) received royalties after Elvis recorded it on Sun records, and made it a Rockabilly song. Gunther said he wished he would've gotten the chance to shake Elvis' hand. Learn your music history
elvis did not care about writing lyrics. What he did was transform old fashioned music into rock and roll. he had a unique style to change the rythm of any song.

Incredible how the song changes with "Time". So much different than the Ed Sullivan version many year prior. Cool.

@EPGul Who's bigger in Turkey, Elvis or Buddy Holly??
heyzog 2 years ago
Wow. Didn't know E ever touched on this song outside of the 50's.
Full proper version with this older raspier voice would have been really cool.

If you cannot write your songs and you produce other peoples' work without credit and you are the best? I don't get it. What am I missing here?

Most musicians used writers then.
Doesnt take away the fact that he was the best ever. You can say he was one of the first to produce with no credit for it though.
