You're right, that was not the reason for the invasion. In 2003 nearly every country on the planet believed Saddam had dangerous weapons. He would not allow the UN weapons inspectors to do their jobs. He played a dangerous game. Everyone close to him warned him that he risked war on his nation. He should have listened.

Our people are not accustomed to terrorist attacks on our home soil. I know the Iraqis had nothing to do with 9-11, but most Americans perceived Saddam as a threat to our nation and his.

We never have been a nation under God (and which God? Our citizens worship many Gods, all equally valid - and some do not believe in Gods at all). "Under God" wasn't added to the pledge until 1954. It was only added then because of paranoia spread by Christian theocrats.
The founders went to great pains to keep Gods and religion out of our nation's founding, and to establish a secular government with a strict wall of separation bewteen church and state.

It's not about hating it. You can love the country but not be for the pledge. First of all, the first amendment prohibits people being forced to submit to any religion. Read it. Therefore, just because I believe in a God in my own way doesn't mean that everyone else should be forced to recite a pledge under God.
You can't state we are a land of FREEDOMS and then NOT give it. Doesn't work that way!

You're right, that was not the reason for the invasion. In 2003 nearly every country on the planet believed Saddam had dangerous weapons. He would not allow the UN weapons inspectors to do their jobs. He played a dangerous game. Everyone close to him warned him that he risked war on his nation. He should have listened.

That's true. I think we made a terrible mistake going to war with Iraq, but at the time, we were extremely concerned about our national security. 9-11 happened only 16 months before the invasion. Our people are not accustomed to terrorist attacks on our home soil. I know the Iraqis had nothing to do with 9-11, but most Americans perceived Saddam as a threat to our nation and his.

But that still gives you no right to attack them.
