  • Wish you did it a little slower. You're are obviously an expert at this and its all too easy for you but us first timers need a more closeup and detailed look.

Still a very helpful video nonetheless. Thanks.

  • thanks. that was really usefull for me. i have a bike that hasnt been used for 5 years, and the chain is in a real bad shape.. so ill have to replace it.

  • That took way to long!

  • what do i do if i break the chain to short

  • Wow dawg ur wack u went way to fast and didn't show shit

  • What do I do if cut chain too short please help

  • @xforeverneeds buy another quick link or get a new chain

  • @xforeverneeds just get the extra links and connect them to the chain by reversing the process done with the chain breaker :)

  • Wish you would have slowed down as you feed it through the derailer...

  • I herd you can break handcuffs with chain breakers...

  • what do you do if your a real man and ride single speed?

  • @TheRealRandomNetwork You would probably have a sit down for a few minutes...stare into a mirror and wonder why you define your manhood by a bicycle part. Then after you have finished pondering that, pick up a dictionary and note how the word 'your' has a different meaning to the abbreviation 'you're'.

A good place to start anyway.

  • @TheRealRandomNetwork

You install your chain then fuck some bitches

  • @TheRealRandomNetwork your a fag

  • You assume that people are familiar with feeding a chain through the derailleur, you were way too quick for me

  • nice ride, specialized are good bikes

  • he talks fast( yet clear) because unlike you dick, he knows what he's talking about :p thanks for the video-very helpful

  • i dont have that tool , how can i do it on a other way?

  • @StuntBiker14 you can buy a chain breaker at walmart for 1.97$ us. if you can't do that just use a hammer and good luck i have done it that way and it sometimes works fine but other times it will break or bend a link.

  • Very good, thanks

  • Sound like he's auctioning some items.

  • This guy talk fucking fast :P

  • @xspan14 hes a rapper

  • @xspan14 hes a rapper

  • @xspan14 hes a rapper

  • shut up you morons, I don't see you guys putting any helpful videos on youtube. Jello brains.

  • This guy is retarded it's a fuckin master link.

  • @FLYxBMXR your mom is a master link

  • ffs not everyone has the fucking quick link feature

  • i got a chain breaker at walmart for $7 with a quick link

  • The large sprocket in the rear, is the lowest gear.

  • I think some people use the big ring small ring method is because if you want to be on the larger rear ring than you have already changed to the smaller front ring anyway.

  • Sheldon Brown's method for judging the length of the chain doesn't thread the chain through the derailleur. I wonder what the difference is between the two techniques.

  • I saw those tools at Wal-Mart. They have lots of them

  • i just bought one from local bike shop and ended up costing me AUD $40...

  • I highly doubt they sell them at Wal-Mart. Those tools are called Park Tools. A specific brand that makes tools for bikes.

  • They had some cheap $4.00 ones a long time ago... But I have a park tool brand now :)

  • @dahgutone Walmart does indeed carry chain breaker tools that do just this, but they're of very cheap construction, being made of a powdered metal.. They will work if you only do this once in a while, but under heavy use, they won't hold up. The walmart units are around $5 and come with a couple different quick link mechanisms for quick chain repair.

Alternately, if you don't have a quick link, its easy to just flip the tool around and push the pin back in on a standard link.

  • @samurphy

    Park Tool though?

  • @dahgutone No, i said it was a cheaper version. It will work, but it's not a good lifetime tool like the park tools unit would be. If you only need to do this process once, then its more cost effective to buy the $5 version, rather than spending $40 or up for a Park tool or another brand of similar quality.

  • cheers mate, good clip, told me everything i needed to know, your a man among men

  • i just removed my chain using the chain breaker...but i dont know how to put the pivet back into the chain.please right back asap thanks

  • nice, would like to see how to match up a chain to the freewheel to know if you have bought the correct one..thanks

  • Another video says largest gear in front, smallest in back, guy at REI told me "kiddy corner" as well. Hmm.

  • Thx.

This is simple and makes sense. A guy from Idiot Village showed me the wrong way and had me confused.

  • Thank you. You made something I was very stressed out about trying easy to understand.

  • Your speaking is stressing me out

  • I don't understand how it was that you knew to remove 2 links. That would be a good addition to add to this video. Thx.

  • you bring the 2 ends of the chain together and just estimate, you can always alter it later if it dosent work

  • Finally! So it's called a "chain breaker". Thank You for this. Expert Village rules!

  • nice video how can i get into expert village ???
