Surely one of the most exotic locos in the world a Gresley A3
I was wondering if it had three cylinders like the prototype but when it started off carry a full train you could hear the typical "Gresley Beat" so obvioulsy it does have 3 cylinders and conjugated valve gear
@ocrailfanner1995 sometimes you can stick a tall tube on the funnel to get more pull from the fire box but as soon as you get 5 psi you don't need a fan
@ShaurntheSheep Sorry for the late reply. The engine is not mine I don't know the details. And yes, it is Harrow and Wemblet Society of Model Engineers; hwsme org uk.
@thesteamenginefan1 I burn coal for heat here at home and that is Anthracite coal. Bituminous coal burns dirty and judging by the lack of smoke and that the operator didn't get his hands dirty handling it. I'm going with anthracite. That is what I use. It's the best there is in my mind. No smoke, no soot, no odor, and very little dust. It is the cleanest burning fuel next to Natural Gas if I'm not mistaken.. I know it's in the top three.
@csongorvarga do you think you can send me a picture of the inside of the cab with all the controles labled by email. If you dont know all the pcontroles that is fine just please lable the ones you know. Thanks ever so much, from Dylan Palombo i aso am a live steam locomotive driver. The live steam locomotive is a HORNBY live steam locomotive. It is HO scale as we call itin america but for the United Kingdom it is OO scale. You british people have created alot of great things in this world
@PalomboDylan Sorry, but this is not my loco. I am not in the club any more, I cannot even go back and take a picture. Sorry you have to find it somewhere else.
It's more down to time building such loco's,if you spent 8 hours a day at it,you could do it in a year.but people need to work to earn money so its usually weekends and the odd evening a week.
No idea, I don't own any :( I think it depends. Some chap was working on his engine for more than 10 years. But if have time and machinary, probably just a few years :)
Look at all those teenaged engine spotters standing all round the thing!

so so so COOL!! love the wheel spin just like the full scale one. Looks amazing
MavErickrollercoast 4 months ago
Just google images and steam locomotive coos sections! It's that easy! Then, draw it out and do research and plan to build it!
MAD2be1 4 months ago
were can you get drawings for the scale down locos?
CutterCub 5 months ago
@CutterCub As I said before, this is not my loco. I don't know if drawings are available or not. Try HWSME website which is the club's website.

A miniature locomotive that uses coal?! Amazing!

Very nice model looks and sounds like the prototype. I would have painted it LNER but thats up to the builder isn't it. 10 stars to that builder.

is it true like for gas burners like propane and other gases you dont need an electric fan to get the fire going

@thesteamenginefan1 Sorry this is not my engine. I am not sure, but I think the club (HWSME) orders some high grade coal (anthracite)
