  • I don't fit on the planet& identify so much with what Henry says. This is weird, because I have listened 2 so much of his opinions on a variety of subjects, through music, spoken word,books,.......I am grateful that he continues 2 express himself. I sure as hell won't stop!

  • "Black,Loud and Strong like Muhammad Ali"

  • Pink Fairies song "Do It" at 3:34....nice cover song choice!

  • his band seem like douches. and he looks like a cop. ah the 90s

  • nice titties honey

  • does nanyone know any basic documentary i can watch on rollins or black flag? like a VH1 or A&E type thing that goes through his career?

  • 1:20 what song is that?

  • @punkskaTV

Low Self Opinion from The End of Silence (their best album)

  • @MrSkulleyes Thank you so much!

  • that album was the beginning of the end of that band... not the end of silence.

  • @xxoxxsmash Pretty much a true statement.

  • Rollins said "I am convinced that some people just don't fit on the planet all that well. Some people are not cut out for life on earth, and that's not because they are better or worse. They just don't fit too well, and I think it's safe to say I am one of those people."

Dear Mr. Rollins this is exactly why you are my hero. From one person does not fit to well to another.

  • great inspirational video

  • is that karyn bryan in the beginning? the MMA interviewer? Damn

  • May i say wtf is mtv

  • @jinbelmont Yeah. Totally "awsem"....

  • I'm "one of those people" too, Henry... glad to see your passion and honesty in your spoken word shows is no different than what you shared with audiences for decades before...

  • He definitely fucked her . . . .

  • henry always good

  • @SuperRikkky Andrew was in the band until about 1994. The album "The End of Silence" came out in 1992.

  • back in the day when Rollins band was still good? You mean back in the day when MTV was still good

  • @BreakingGlass77 We've already been over this. Rollins Band fell off and MTV was never good.

  • @SuperRikkky I'm not doubting your show. I just don't think that was the last tour with Andrew.

  • 5:11

  • @poprocksncoke120 mtv always sucked, it just sucks a little more lately. And you didn't miss anything, some pop shlop largely trivial stuff. Go read a great work of literatrue, esp classics, or some dry philosophy, or learn about science, acces databases from universites and check out what's on the edge in quantum cosmology. You didn't miss anything, but you can finally begin to actually look

  • wow this is from 92 when the music was all alive and rockin

    not like today....

  • At 5:13: "GET THE FUCK OFF MY STAGE!"

  • @SuperRikkky Andrew played lolapalooza which happened in the 90's. Whatchoo talkin bout Willis?

  • hah wow now mtv is shitttt

    why isnt like this now???

  • @poprocksncoke120 Face it, we live in a time where reality TV rules.

  • @jokoyaka more like wannabe-reality tv

  • @NIMRODakaNIMROD I take the reality TV part back. Internet porn rules.

  • @jokoyaka Word up! And now, let's go and get some more p0rn...

  • @jokoyaka If you're not getting any

  • She Seemed Uncomfortable. Lol

  • he was in a GAP ad?

okay, i love Rollins, but thats pretty lame

  • @Pogokid150 Dude, you cover Offspring and have a pretty adhd McDonalds Culture taste. Who is lame ?

  • @Pogokid150 So, whats all that shit gotta do with "Pogo" ?

    fucking retarded

  • now I throw you in the pool! haha

  • Henry is on Tool`s Undertow album.

  • how henry moves on stage reminds me a little on the moves of Maynard James Keenan of tool.

  • Rollins was on stage when Maynard was a baby...anyway, Maynard is good.

  • i wasnt comparing them. I hate this *he is good but the other one is better* bullshit!

they both are artists and thats IT!

  • you're right about that...it sounds like i was comparing them. but i wasn't. All i wanted to tell is Rollins is a kind of "Yoda" ;)

  • hahaha!

    in Rollins we trust!

  • Was Rollins on stage as a baby? I mean, he's only three years older than Keenan. :)

  • hahaha :D

right ! I mean in the 80's, Keenan was not on stage. ;))

  • Not that Rollins Band was great....but it was cool to have bands like that around. It's a shame that in today's current music environment....bands on that level pretty much can't make a living anymore.

  • They were great before they got media attention. They were great during this era, then they kinda fell off after Andrew left the band. I saw them at CBGBs in 88 for the first tima and I was blown away.

  • @BigAlbinoDonky "bands on that level pretty much can't make a living anymore" nah that aint true, they just can't get rich and famous, but then again Rollins Band was really rich and famous either so there you go. It did get more exposure at this time though because MTV was all caught up in the brief alternative rock craze and they wanted to chase down anything remotely like that, that they thought were cool and so would make them look cool

  • this guy is really cool. Although i personally don't believe his music is the best to the ear, it's the meaning behind it that is strong.

This guy isn't scared to be himself, he isn't in fear of the world. Say it like it is. No shortcuts.

  • That looks like the show at Slim's I went to.

  • 6:34 - 6:55 Sounds like me.

  • there's a picture of glenn danzig that looks real similar to the one of henry at 2:21 I think it was around the Lucifuge era.

  • Lifted lots of weight to The End of Silence and Weight while going though some bad times. Rollins' music....damn amazing.

  • In 10 or 20 years people will say the time right now is when people could be original. No matter what time in the world it is people will bitch, be fags, and think just everything is wrong.

  • @lawlawlowned i agree with what you're saying, except the "be fags" part. That was lame.

  • "End of Silence" - era. Great times.

  • Rollins is God!

  • Love this man. Hes from an era were it was cool to be original. now...we all have to just fit in this little box as because its death to the artist and all hail the entertainer. But hey thats at last we still hae Rollins right?

Saw him on Sons of Anarchy the other night. Dude is STILL bad ass, acted well and I dont care if he is 50, dude hes sexy as fuck. Yup.

  • @Jelloxox He's even sexier in person!!!!!

  • hes made a living but he said himself he can deff not retire and not work another day, he isnt a millionaire. Show the man some respect, hes busted his ass over the years.

  • oh he could retire if he wanted. maybe not living the high life but my guess is that he could retire and live well. I doubt he would retire though as he has said that he's gotta stay busy. Some people have a drive and energy that they have to expend, they have to expel, or they'd implode. Rollins is one of these people.

  • 5.10 to 5.18

  • i didnt like the dis on pittsburgh..

  • I didnt' care, but I don't live in Pennsylvania.

  • I'm from Pgh but I don't think it was a dis. I think he was just saying all cities look the same if you travel so much. A city in ohio looks alot like a city in wyoming when you spend everyday in a new city.

  • back when punk was good. now it`s just a bunch of pop bullshit

  • I miss angry Rollins.

  • me too Spelonker

  • Who gives a flying fucking shit about genres, it's fucking MUSIC!

  • Rollins Band still kick ass!

  • 7:27

Me, you and Bill hicks man.

  • "Man i dont care it's 1992 if you dont have an attitude stay the Fuck at home you're gonna get killed"

    -Henry Rollins

  • Yeah, MTV don't play music anymore, false advertising hahaha Rollins kicks ass!!!

  • I don't think MTV was ever good. Fuck that, dude. Like the great Jello Biafra said, "MTV....GET OFF THE AIR!!!"

  • That's your opinion. It was hardcore punk anyway. You're not really supposed to sing. It's all more of a yell.

  • I believe I typed hardcore punk sir. Learn and think before you type.

  • I KNEW you would go into semantics about those petty bullshit type of classifications... typical

  • I don't even know why you're trying to argue about whether or not Jello could sing. I know he couldn't sing for shit, but that is totally unrelated to the original post. You and I can both agree that MTV sucks and should get off the air. Making a reference to a song doesn't call for an argument.

  • Biafra and Rollins are both really cool and educated guys who even at their age now can both still put on a show and both are still relevant to today. The people who hate them should go listen to Green Day or some other worthless band.

  • @anon6952 Dude, you like Dad-Rock-y stuff, how could you tell what he is or not is ?

  • i wish i could see rollins band live

  • I saw Rollins at Lollapalooza back in 91. One of the greatest shows I've ever seen.

  • as if it mattered. first of all bf isn't around since 86. he can't sing.... so fucking what? who gives a shit? Ian Mackaye a good singer? Nope. George Anthony? Nope. Keith Morris? Nope. Name any good "singer" in hc... The intenitiy is key. Henry is pretty intensive. that counts.

  • @swiv2d His voice is great

  • henrys great

  • wow, i saw this when i was a kid. thanks for posting!

  • Thanks for posting this.

Anyone who has ever seen Rollins Band live knows that they are a powerhouse. I can't even go to concerts anymore because, for the most part, most bands just seem so lackluster by comparison.

What counts for "metal" or even "rock" nowadays makes me laugh. It's a joke, for the most part. And I'm not close-minded to new music, it just all seems like an act, so contrived.

Rollins may be a performer, but you bet your ass it's not an act.

  • Damn right dude

    Perfectly said

  • Rollins Band isn't around anymore.

  • I had this video YEARS ago and it got long lost... thank you for posting this !! I got it captured and burned to never lose it again !

  • whoa that performance of low self opinion is fuckin kickass

  • Rollins is the man

  • It's amazing that this and things like it were ever on Mtv. It just shows how much lower kids' stadards are today and how badly EmptyTV has fallen into the abyss. From this to pimp my ride? Cribs? Fuck, modern society is weak.

  • When I was in high school in the 80's. MTV sucked. They played garbage like poison while I was into underground punk stuff. Then Nirvana came out and MTV began exploiting good bands that have been around for years. Now that the 'fad' is over they went back to playing crap.

  • that's how i feel about it. i miss good fucking hard rock. MTV hasn't really changed that much either.

  • @mastadon1976 what do you mean "modern society" what does modern mean to you because I'm pretty sure 1992 was considered modern society too lol. And don't worry, there was just as much weak stuff back then, even tho there was a little more mainstream exposure to more interesting bands at the time, with the success of nirvana and that whole alternative rock thing, but it didn't last. that ok. Go read more, go out and experience physical reality more

  • Go check out the "love's so heavy video". Its PAINFUL to watch..

  • agreed

  • wow it'd be an honor and kind of nerve racking to have henry pull my hair like that a palm strike me like he did to that kid lol at 5:16

  • Great video. Thank you for this look back. I wish I would've been into Henry back then. I'm 33 now, and going to catch him for the first time in Portland Ore, on the 13th of October.

  • MTV's standards these days are to force-feed paint-by-the-numbers music to their demographic of skinny emaciated suburban kids who have never dealt with a day of stress in their boxed-in lives with bad haircuts and what-have-you.

Can you imagine MTV trying to do something actually 'serious' these days? I couldn't. Their level of standards have dropped.

  • @SeanGoatboy Word up, man, word up!

  • MTV would NEVER play this now. I love Rollins Band.

    - C sXe

  • thanks jaw. great stuff.

  • I taped it on MTV years ago

  • Thanks, fuck face!

  • This reminds me of a time when MTV TRIED to be intresting in bringing issues to and late Reagan/Generation X in getting them up and have some form of motiviation. MTV these days is utterly pathetic, washed-up, you name it...I honestly don't even recognize it anymore. No Tibitean Freedom, no Buzzclips, no nothing...just Tila Tequila trying to decide between who to fuck and some rich spoiled 16 year old crying because she didn't get her fucking BMW.

Oh, and Henry Rollins rules. Total Icon.

  • You said it better than I did.

    - C sXe

  • Sick vid. Henry Rollins has made a huge impact on my life, with his music and books, and this makes it even greater.

  • His peak. Even better than Black Flag.

  • it's 1992 if you dont have an attitdue stay the fuck at home or you're gonna get killed - lol

how in the fuck did that female presenter get employed?

  • haha, I love it. thanks for the post.

  • haha why did she walk into the door? lol

  • This is when MTV had at least some good programing. Now I would consider MTV an embarassment and an absolute disgrace to anything remotely musical.

  • Ah Henry, he makes me feel warm inside!

  • I see where the Pantera singer got his chops! :P

  • Thank you for posting this. I don't remember seeing this back in the day. I remember on one of Henry's spoken word albums, he talked about "the crazy shit I said to that girl from MTV last night". This must be what he was talking about. The criminal thing is that this live footage looks and sounds like it was from a dynamite gig. That would be a cool thing to see in its entirety. But no, it will gather dust forever because MTV isn't concerned with the past.

  • Thanks for posting this.
