  • I wonder if they got the idea for the movie Limitless from seeing this guy.

  • What is the name of the music at 2:12 ?

  • SERIOUSLY, why do we always need to put people of 'extraordinary' traits and characters through a series of (almost) useless tests??

So what if we know what is lacking in Kim's brain? Or the existence of extra, peculiar structures? Do these tests even come close to making OUR lives and this planet better?

    N.O.

So please, for whatever's sake, all of you 'scientists' and 'experts', go do something really meaningful, and NOT keep repeating useless tests that don't make your lives special.

  • @Beginningless What a stupid comment. It's research. They do in fact do something meaningful. They collect new knowledge about the human brain.

  • @jalle88 Yoiur whole online retarded comment only proves idiots like YOU come to 'understand' and 'defend' those so-called 'knowledgeable' idiots like scientists and 'researches'.

"...in fact do something meaningful"? WHAT is the 'thing' that is MEANINGFUL? Why don't you just elaborate and state as a matter-of-fact, instead of trying to be smart but end up being a hollow smartass?

  • @Beginningless You are a lost cause. Good luck in life mate!

  • @jalle88: and your whole point being...coming online to make some useless comments against another?

That will make you sleep better at night, probably without sucking off some milk from your mom I suppose? LOLOLxxx

  • @Beginningless Ok, as a neurology student,I'm quite offended by that. We study Kim brain for many reason. Those test isnt' useless, by studying Kim brain and his uncanny memory. We could try and somehow link it to Alzheimer, the exact opposite of Kim. Perhaps somehow the ''missing'' part of Kim brain is the answer to the perfect memory.

  • I wonder what'll happen to him when his father passes away..:(

  • @itsMsCoolPanda We will never know. Kim Peek died january 2009.

  • I wonder if Kim has had sex with a woman!?

  • V for Victory !

  • i love this guy, rest in peace buddy.

  • Kim Peek died of a fucking heart attack. FUCK FUCK FUCK. This is horrible news. What a cool guy. I miss you Kim.

  • The people who disliked this video are the real fucking retards!!!

  • what would happen if kim did lsd?

  • His Dad is so loving..what a beautiful relationship.

  • ITs amazing the loving care Fran gave Kim. It must have been hard emotionally AND economicly, but he still only had Kims best in mind no matter how much patience it took. People are sad that Kim is now dead, and so am I, but we got to remember that his father was over 80 years and would soon be incapable of taking care of his son. Kims best part of life would probably soon had been over anyways.

    Love from Norway.

  • I'll never forget the morse code for V. Thank you, Kim Peek!

  • the old guy on the trolley seemed cool as hell

  • Don't ever offend such person. They will remember and hate you for life.

  • It is quite possibly that they touched noses by accident on account of Hoffman's large nose and Peek's habit for putting his face too close to other peoples.

  • What a wonderful man!

    Grateful to see this video!

  • I want to be Kim Peek when I grow up.

  • tht writer to rain man is a prick he says he wants to share kim to the world through a film which roughly translates i want 2 get rich off him CUNT

  • 1:20 There it is, ready to be mounted. No fear, this mans dna should be harvested.

  • Adorable!

  • quick get his brain out and study it

  • how awsome that actors directors are looking at him like he something special when they make movies that are suppose to make movies that are awsome... and they trying to be like him

  • @jansenescu Poor him? his father is an extraordinary man,he was absolutely wonderful and loving. He expressed great joy in being around people and answering their questions, he took great pleasure from interaction with other people in the only positive way he knew, he loved it. He was a wonderful man : ) and his father aswell. :D

  • he use 100% of his brain i think ,

  • 1:51 "revolutionary newly used technology" rofl its called an mri

  • @MegaBEANER1000 yea but this vid is maybe 15-20 years old..

  • God bless this man and may he find a peace that perhaps was not as evident in life.

  • the old guy on the tram at the start was a pimp :D

  • @jansenescu He had a father who loved him, and the people in his life didn't try to exploit him. I'm glad he was recognized

  • Mr. Fran Peek, thank you for taking such good care of your son! I'm so sorry for your loss.

  • Kim Peek lived by the gun and died by the gun.

  • rip kim

  • "I may be the star, but you are the heavens." What a stunningly beautiful quote.

  • "they're gonna fortify mexico",

"well they have to do something about illegal immigration"

    "they should legalize immigration"

hahahah simple solutions to our countries big problems.

Hes a Great man with a great mind!!!!

  • Dustin Hoffman's remark almost made me cry. It's so charming and heartwarming.

  • Comment removed

  • @jansenescu -- the system used the guy as it uses all of us.

  • Comment removed

  • Did he read fiction?

  • @XAoTonboX That is an interesting question. I doubt he would understand the idea of fiction and he would take everything written as truth.

  • i would enslave him and make him my personal Google. my little pet.

  • @jansenescu poor guy? he's looked at with awe by just about everyone that sees him and after rain man came out he was very confident.. dude that guy had a pretty cool life

  • @Guildwars55 exactly, there are 110 who have "liked" the janenescu comment but they surely don't see the simple picture being presented in this program. They just see human suffering in everything which is noble, but pathetic

  • @jansenescu Kim and his father probably agreed with Dustin Hoffman when he told them to share his gift with the world. I think putting it the way you put makes it sound like he didn't want to travel the world and meet people which I think is inaccurate. May he rest in peace indeed, his influence on the understanding of the brain will continue to live on as well as the way he interacted with everyone with compassion.

  • hey my birthday is june 20 also

  • @jansenescu Oh no! :( He died?

That's so terrible. Such a wealth of knowledge and not to mention a gem to science, and that's all gone now. :( He was also such a pure-hearted person, like a child. I guess that means he was sinless, like Jesus, hehe. He deserved to live a full life. :(

  • what is behind space?? ask him that

  • @Quiroox Unless he had read it or had it explained to him, he would not know what to answer.

  • He only knew what he read in a book. If you want to know that question read it in a book. If there is no book on your question then he wouldn't know the answer to it. But he died in 2009.

  • @Quiroox more space

  • @ALEG0Man360 yup, because of a heart attack... poor guy. If only he was socially inclined like daniel tammet then he could be the brain of the world. May he rest in peace.

  • @jansenescu Goed gezegd :)

  • i would love to meet this guy

  • @jansenescu The poor guy died from a heart attack :(

  • 4:31

    Hes excited on legalizing immigration

  • kim was admirable but his father should be an example for all of us how he took care of his son even tjough hiis wife left him and even though the first doctors they saw told him to insitucionalize him and forget him !

  • He knows a lot, but he is not creative as he cannot think up new things. He is very kind though.

  • Comment removed

  • @jansenescu i think instead of obligation, he was doing it out of his free will. and yes, i think his father is amazing. taking care of his son for 58 years, by his son's side, every side day.

  • When Kim Peek was alive and he went to the Few different doctors and he had his brain scanned and he has the corpus callosun is completely Missing on his brain

  • I like how he got so excited seeing Tom Cruise's star.

  • he said "of a normal person"! there is nothing rong with him. what is a normal person?...there is no such thing.

  • @DV8hc agree, everyone is unique and different. We're not identical like robots, we are all different, how we think, feel and perceive. None of us are the same, therefore there's no such thing as "normal"

  • @TheManGuyDude RIGHT, RIGHT!!

  • AWW when he came out the machine he said

    I love this <333333

hes laugh is so cute :( im sad he dead.

    R.I.P KIM <3 Barry is a good man :]

    4:57 HANDSOME :]

  • Comment removed

  • I love his laugh!

  • This guy is clever

  • I love Kim! When he came out from the big nightmare-machine kim said : I love this . LOL

  • wheeww..the living google...

  • hey Kim,how many steroids did Barry Bonds use in his last 10 yrs in S.F.?

what does S.F. stand 4? shitty fielding!!!!

  • @rrrjjjmmm100 mate your not funny.

  • when did he die?

  • RIP Kim

  • wish my parents gave me books instead of toys as a child lol. RIP Kim, amazing inspiration xD

  • could you just get brain surgery and get that part of your brain removed to get like super smart?

  • If you did then you would be able to use your left and right in tandem, which means simple tasks would be nigh impossible as it is for Kim.

  • Err, Unable* sorry.

  • amazing people like him make the world a better place

  • extraordinary people!!! R.I.P KIM

  • It's not about knowledge, rather being able to cross-reference facts in the fashion of a computer database.

Real knowledge is about combining information in a creative way. That is a true gift!

  • yup, lack of synthesis of data

  • Comment removed

  • Rest In Peace Kim.....

From a Fellow Utahan. We willmiss you.

  • so beautiful makes me want to cry. real shame he died

  • amazing guy

  • @jansenescu As he states himself, he enjoyed being able to "prove himself".

To you or I, being made to recite endless facts from memory for lines of curious schoolchildren would be annoying and tiresome. But it's nothing to him.

After Rain Man came out, being able to assign himself the identity of "The Rain Man", who everybody liked and respected, gave him a huge confidence boost and improved his social skills a lot.

He never realized before then that anybody might be impressed by him.

  • he's brilliant. and he lived out his destiny. rip.

  • RIP KIM

  • rest in peace beautiful mind

  • @Bernankruptcy I like the way you see things. I have always said "what people to consider normal, is actually a handicap". May God bless his soul.

  • he has disability, but he is a REAL genius.

    Kanye West is not.

  • He's not a character... he's a person! D:

  • This guy could win big in "Who wants to be a MILLIONAIRE!"

    am i right?!? ahaha

  • @shortyecu12 LMAO i love how proud you are

    am i right !?!?

  • He'd know every answer before regis would read any of the choices. You have to qualify to go to that show first and he wouldn't get accepted because there's really no challenge for him. It's just he walks in and they would have to hand him the money because they know he'd win it anyways. No challenge what so ever.

  • @shortyecu12 Quiz Bowl dude, Quiz Bowl.

  • @shortyecu12 -- not really, he would have lost to trivial questions such as how much does a coke cost or how many eggs has a two egg cake ...

  • @shortyecu12 no cos hes dead.

  • @shortyecu12 You get a thumb down for laughing at your own joke

  • @shortyecu12 Any compatition :o

  • @shortyecu12 they probabbly wouldn't let him participate lol.

  • I love the 87 year old man on the tram, just doing his shopping and talking to strangers. :)

  • You have a problem with creative thinking , you can't create interference with recall thus you are always sure when you recall. more than that having memory as the integrating center of conscious probably makes it better by force.

as for the CC abnormality I think ti's a migration differene that is probably represented with the entire micro architecture of his telencephalon

  • WHAT! Can you please repeat that in English?

  • I thought that Peter and Kevin Gunthrie the pair of brothers one of whom was autistc were the main inspiration for rainman. Peter is who Hoffman thanked in his oscar speech and if you see him he is incredibly similar to Hoffman's performance. The savant side comes from Peek but not the character

  • @bpatrice49

    Those people don't exist.

  • Ruth C. Sullivan and Joseph Sullivan were given the last credit in the movie, and Dustin Hoffman thanked them and Kim Peek, among many others, in his Oscar speech.

  • Did he say Arlington, Texas?! omfg that's my hometown lol.

  • "Want me to take it home for you?"

    NOO!!!

  • 09:18 whats the music?

    Please tell me.

    Thanks in advance!

  • This shit is awsome!

  • rainman is a good movie.

  • One of the most intelligent humans on earth.

  • this man is awesome, one of a kind, and all that idiots that think that his ability is useless or that he is not special, are just jealous, and above all he is a really sweet and nice guy.

  • You have a small point ..then again that would mean so is the internet...

But you got to see the big picture..the capacity of a human brain and how us (so called normal people ) have something that kind of clouds of learning and seeing things in a diffrent way

  • His trivial knowledge is barely applicable and without his father he would probably be living in group home. Us "normal" people don't have these abilities so we can interact socially and band together to accomplish things. Without society's advances and protection, Kim would have withered and died early on. Secondly, you saying the internet is useless information is completely idiotic. It is full of applicable knowledge that can be used to complete tasks and is also a useful communication tool.

  • "his trivial knowledge is barely applicable".....

    you sir are a.... dumbass

  • oh yeah, name one profession he can engage in while being completely autonomous

  • being famous... thats one profession he seems to be doing extremely well... and getting grants for being a study object.. the man holds the keys to unlocking more of what our brains are capable of

  • wife and children?.... I'm not sure that's a joy of life... and I'm not sure that makes you "human"....

How many divorces last year in usa?

  • Maybe a wife wasn't a good example. Monogamy doesn't really mix well with our species, it's just some institution based on abstaining from primal urges created by the powers that be. But, a relationship with your children seems truly special. The only thing I would miss if I were him were the meaningful relationships we hold with the world around us. Don't get me wrong, I know he has them, but I don't think he can be as intimate or as deeply involved as "normal" people have the ability to.

  • Why should he need to? If he is happy then what is the problem? Sure life can always be better, but that goes for everyone all the time and as long as the human race keeps on living. Infact, by the looks of it he is more happy than most of us are.

  • In what way could they harness his talents for a greater good then what he is already doing?

  • lol you probably have a shitty job a fat nasty wife no hobbies ugly fat children and you are a miserable person. You have no room to talk about someone like Kim Peek because you are a fucking retard not him. dont reply back i dont care what lies your going to come up with about your worthless life loser.

  • lol omg dude if you think ANYONE buys that your pathetic

  • shut up you idiot

  • and that gives you the right to talk? you must be the most pathetic piece of shit i've ever heard talk

  • screatus u dumb fuk they not saying its something special.. they jus explaining how he makes connections

  • What a great special man. And not to forget about his father, it must be very tough to do what he does.

  • whats the big deal on the beethoven V thing...any normal person can make that wierd connection if they thought about it ,,,doesnt really mean anytrhing

  • The interesting part is the Morse code connection. DOT DOT DOT DASH is Morse for the letter "V". "V" is Roman numeral for 5. Beethoven's Fifth symphony sounds like DOT DOT DOT DASH. That requires a bit of knowledge, plus connections that I certainly didn't see. Like most ideas, they are easy once you get them. The trick is thinking of it first.

  • I think the point was that most don't connect those pieces of information together. Any one of us may have known those facts in isolation, but the fact that he did connect those things and probably many others (if we all had the opportunity to explore his mind completely), makes his way of thinking extraordinary. It was an hour special explaining an obviously complex individual... no matter how simple we (some) may "think' he is. Kudos to Kim Peek. RIP.

  • Man it would be awesome to be as smart as him, but without his disabilities...

  • Kim Peek thanks for sharing your gift with all of us!

  • Scotland's census:

    1971: 5,234,000

    1981: 5,180,200

    1991: 5,083,000

    2001: 5,062,011

2008 estimates put the number back at 5,168,500, so while the trend is reversing, it has yet to surpass it's high of almost 40 years ago.

Surprising that someone on an island would want to open the "inbred" can of worms.

If you want, we could compare America's census stats, as well as the difference in immigration numbers between the countries.

Or, you could just learn to take a joke.

  • see at the end of the video the film maker guy doesnt get what kim means. kim says ROCKY MARCIANO and the guys like "its burgess meredith" but kim was quoting from rocky =P

  • Are you kidding? You're questioning the movie trivia banter between a walking encyclopedia and a Hollywood screenwriter?

Burgess Meredith played "Mickey", Rocky's trainer. It's perplexing that you could spell his name correctly, presume to know about "Rocky" and still not know that he was one of its stars.

IMDb, Google, Wikipedia - pick your poison, but a few seconds of research might just save you some embarrassment.

"The film maker guy" is obviously not the one who "doesnt get" it.

    =P

  • i know that u dumb fuck. i was pointing out that the movie guy didnt understand why kim said "rocky marciano" ive seen all the rockys i know what im talkin about dumbass

  • If you're really smart enough to know exactly what the context of a 6 second clip is, then I'm sure there's a bright future for you as an analyst somewhere.

I would assume that maybe Kim was quoting Mickey and Barry was identifying the actor who made the quote. But, I suppose that would be too simple an explanation for someone as perceptive as yourself.

Your first comment might have made you sound like a simple-minded jerk, but your second one removed all doubt.

  • and ur the one who's giving a history into the film? take ur head from between ur mums fat thighs and open ur fucking eyes

  • Since when did a suggestion with words like "assume" and "maybe" turn into "giving a history of the film?"

Can you do anything other than regurgitate insults? What about an actual argument? Some quotes, maybe? Anything!

The only new thing you've brought to the table since your first comment is, "ive seen all the rockys." Who hasn't? I guess that MIGHT be considered an accomplishment for someone who's 22. Congrats. Now, get over it and say something substantive!
