@jinjukang eh your wrong ! get ur facts right the a320 does not have 8 doors like a330 but 4 and has gear that have 2 on either side compared 2 2 on the a320 and doesnt have blended winglets
@lukasmahoney yez..... luckydog..... should every plane in this world land and take-off at different pitch/direction..... the faster the climb rate, the more fuel-efficient the aircraft as the aircraft cruise, but landing an aircraft very smooth just to make sure that nothing's damage.....
Guys, actually it's "already" works at 20ft, the autoland system is the system that guide the plane to land, not to landing smoothly... Boeing also have the system, but why Boeing aircraft doesn't land as smooth as the Airbus aircraft does? There's a secret behind the Airbus aircraft
There's no secret. Boeing aircraft, like the 767 are still mostly manual, and it's landing gear configuration makes it difficult to "grease" a landing. If you look at different models you'll see they're pretty smooth too.
The Airbus A330/A340 family (particularly the A330) have exceptionally smooth landings because of their gear configuration. With the main gear, the wheels are held differently than, say, the 767, where the front set of the main gear touch down first. In the A330, it's the rear set. That's what makes A330 landings look so graceful.
@abb1220 Like the B747...I think the B747 makes the smoothest landings..A Hard landings in a B747 means the pilot either flared to early or too late...
@Afiq5311 I think Boeing aircraft (generally speaking) land smoother than the Airbus aircraft..Having the Joystick in the Airbus versus the control column in the Boeing might have something to do with it...I have flown many time both on Airbus and Boeing..70% of Boeing landings were smooth 30% were hard..Airbus 70% were hard 30% smooth..
oh whoa, that was a nice landing, it's always nice when the pilot keeps the main bogies tip-toeing a little longer. it's like a bird gracefully coming back to earth.
apart from the fact that it's an airbus, so the computer takes control under 20ft and softly lands the aircraft, the pilot has no input under 20ft above the runway - if it ain't Boeing, I ain't going.
Most modern airliners are fitted with this feature, called "autoland", and it is not being used here. It can't be at the Gold Coast. Learn before you speak, please :)
I am aware of the autoland feature and there would be no reason for it to be used in weather conditions such as those shown in the video. If you knew anything about Airbus aircraft, you would know that they use fly by wire, and all inputs must go through a computer first, which deems whether the input is realistic. So, when the pilot flares the aircraft at 20ft, the computer is pretty much in control. Why else would all A330 landings look identical?
That's where you are wrong. Autolands are performed in any condition, for aircraft and pilot currency.
I do have knowledge about fly-by-wire. AND I also know that A330's do not flare at 20ft. And sure, all controls go through the computer, but the pilot is controlling the imputs, the computer is just safe-guarding against drastic movements, it doesn't bring the aircraft to the ground.
@Brett123455 but how it works....???? show me..... i'm noob about this kind of aircraft..... ok, here's the reason..... why A330s don't flare at 20ft???? if you say that fly-by-wire is about controlling the aircraft efficiently, how about the A320's landing procedure??? they're different if you know that...
such an amazing plane, 5***** in perth where going to have an a330 infestation soon, singapore, qantas and i think malaysian are all going to fly them out of perth:D as well as air asia of course:D wow, smoothest landing ever!!!!:D yay for the jetstar a330 also:D

@jinjukang It's got upward winglets so it is an A330. The video's abit squashed so it appears to have a short fuselage like the A320.

That would be the case unless the wind changes direction.
