  • The Bible does not say we can be perfect, else we wouldn't need a Savior, this is an elementary teaching. Matthew 5:48 is talking about God's standard, "Mat 5:48 You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect." Must be perfect, not you can be, else Jesus'b blood is in vain, just as it would be if we lost our salvation.

  • @AugmentedMinor Think it through again.

  • @RobertMOdell No worries, already have Robert. This concept that we can be perfect in practice while on earth has been rejected for centuries, for if we could be perfect then Christ died in vain. Romans 5:7

  • @AugmentedMinor You are in error. Firstly, anyone who continues in sin does not know the savior. Secondly, if you stop sinning today and never sin again you still need a savior. I'll leave you to your bible studies to discovery the obvious answer why. "this is elementary teaching" ??? No. It is called lying to the Holy Spirit. "BE YE PERFECT" - Jesus.

  • @RobertMOdell Robert, I quoted the Bible, can you offer a counter exegesis to Paul's crystal clear statement?

  • @AugmentedMinor Matthew 5:48 was not written by Paul. Read 1 John. But before you do that, you should first discover why a perfectly obedient Christian needs a savior.

  • @RobertMOdell Robert don't side step the question. Are Paul and Jesus contradicting?

  • @AugmentedMinor What question? You said "The Bible does not say we can be perfect, else we wouldn't need a Savior". That is a direct quote.

  • THATS RIGHT!!! the bible says so!

  • You can't be perfect through your own effort. You can be morally perfect through Christ who strenthens you

  • heretic

  • I'VE HAD IT WITH THESE ARROGANT HOLIER THAN THOU PERFECTIONIST!

  • Heretic.

  • YES you can be perfect. Mathew 5:48 "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your father in heaven is perfect.

    "

  • hey drop....if you insist on continuing, please send me a PM. I dont want to continue taking up space here. though this discussion is futile....other than the Holy Spirit opening your heart as he did for Lydia in the book of Acts. You believe in Moral gov theology......I believe in the Subsitutionary atonement of the Living God! God bless sir. I pray you come to see what Grace really means. : )

  • @wuebbsco

ah I forgot about Hebrews 10.. well I sent you a message.

  • JESUS SAVES HE TELLS THE TRUTH. I AM PRAYNG FOR JESSE

  • Jesus said, "My Word is true, and it declares that all must repent and turn from their sins and ask Me to come into their lives if they are to escape this place. Through My blood there is forgiveness of sins. I am faithful and just and will forgive all those who come to Me. I will not cast them out."

  • Jesus spoke again, "Hell has a body (like a human form) lying on her back in the center of the earth. Hell is shaped like a human body- very large and with many chambers of torment. Remember to tell the people of earth that hell is real. Millions of lost souls are here, and more are coming every day. On the Great Judgment Day, death and hell will be cast into the lake of fire; that will be the second death."

  • this guys in the background will be very very VERY suprised....

  • Funny, at the very end Jesse says, "I am full of the Holy Ghost!". Um, Jesse, you are definitely full of something, but its not the Holy Ghost. It is so obvious looking at you....you say you are perfect, which means you suffer from the sin of pride sir. I pray you repent and realize Jesus saves us perfectly by his grace...Not by our works of the law. Ephesians 2:8-10

  • @wuebbsco

"you say you are perfect, which means you suffer from the sin of pride sir"

So OBEYING Jesus, and Scripture... is prideful? really? Matthew 5:48, and 1 Peter 1:13-16

I hope you can explain that to God one day... your claims are quite arrogant and ignorant of much Scripture. Have you read the epistle of 1 John? Do you know it was against false teachers(Gnostics) who taught you couldn't stop sinning(but were still saved by grace), so John set them straight in that epistle?

  • @droptozro You missed my point when you asked if obeying Jesus is prideful....of course not! We are commanded to obey. That is the wrong question though. The correct question is....does anybody fully obey as we are commanded? What is the greatest commandment?? Mark 12:30. There is nobody on earth who loves God fully, 100% of the time. But praise God, Jesus Christ does love the Father perfectly, and it is by THAT love and by His blood that we are redeemed! Hebrews 9:12

  • @wuebbsco

Agreed that we're redeemed by the blood of Christ.

    "We are commanded to obey."

"There is nobody on earth who loves God fully, 100% of the time"

You unwittingly call God a liar, Jesus a liar, and Paul a liar, and you also do not know every single professing Christian on this earth to make such a claim. If YOU yourself do not keep this commandment, you speak for yourself and are a liar. 1 John 2:$

Do you understand what you're saying? The commandments are NOT burdensome. 1 John 5:3

  • @droptozro Hi sir. nope, not calling anyone a liar.....well, Jesse is a heretic, worse than a liar. Now, you say you agree that we are redeemed by the blood of Christ. Are you sure you agree with that? Jesse doesn't believe that. He doesn't believe the cross actually accomplished anything, other than being a good moral example. When reading 1 John 2:4.....dont forget to also read verse 1. Sir, do you believe the Apostle Paul was a sinner as a Christian??

  • @wuebbsco

I wasn't even speaking about Jesse.

If you're claiming that God commands us to obey Him and keep the first two commandments... yet we cannot do that, then YES--you're calling God a liar. You would have others believe that God will punish them for not being able to obey what He's commanded.. that's ridiculous heresy.

I've spoken with Jesse before on here, and seen many of his videos--I think you're making false accusations.

I have no problem with all of 1 John, you do sir... repent.

  • @wuebbsco

We all have sinned in our past(including Paul), but now we're to be saints of God... if you're referring to Romans 7, then no--you're reading that incorrectly. As these letters were not given chapters originally---Romans 6 and 8 give the answer to your issue. Romans 7 is Paul describing his life as a Pharisee under the Mosaic law(verse 1)... if you believe that is a Christian life, you're sorely mistaken.. as Rom 8 shows that Christ has delivered Paul from that free to obey Christ.

  • @droptozro First off sir, I repent of my sins every day, as commanded. It is Christian perfectionists, AKA Pelagians, who believe they are perfect who tend not to repent. I know I'm a sinner....saved by God's grace and Mercy....NOT by my following the law. Rom 5:9

Sir, you say Paul sinned in the past, but not as a believer (at least you seem to be hinting at that).

In 1 Tim 1:15 Paul claimed to be the worst of sinners.....in the present tense. And we know Peter sinned. ; )

  • @wuebbsco

You almost seem pleased that they sinned after conversion..? I really hope not.

Paul said that because he was a murderer.. and was saved by the pure intervention and grace of God. You ONLY have to repent after you've sinned.. are you sinning every day? If you are, you're quite deceived... you're lost and Jesus will say "I never knew you." STOP sinning! You should be so serious about that!

Jesse has admitted to sinning after conversion.. you're debating straw-men, and you're lost.

  • @droptozro I can see how my "wink" could be taken the wrong way. I did NOT mean I was happy that he had sinned. The "wink" meant it is hard to argue that Christians are perfect when they admit to sinning, or do sin!

Sir, follow the verb tenses. Paul WAS a murderer and a blasphemer. He IS (at the time) foremost of sinners. he was not referring to his pre-Christian life, or he would have said "I WAS" a sinner.

You are following a Pelagian heresy of Christian perfection. : (

  • @droptozro I know Jesse has admitted to sinning after conversion. We have a problem here, that goes really deep. You don't believe our nature is tainted by sin. You believe we are born with a clean slate, and can be good or bad, all our choice.

I believe we have sinful, wrathful nature as described in scripture. eph 2:1-3

I believe there is no on who seeks God....Romans 3:10-11

I believe God saves perfectly and we are secure in Him.....Rom 8:30 Eph 1:13

  • @wuebbsco

"I repent of my sins every day as commanded"--that's just a part of the prayer.. it doesn't mean you have to do it every time.

Jesus commanded people to stop sinning, are you doing that every day? So you can obey Jesus by repenting every day? but you can't obey Him and stop sinning every day? This is double-talk.

You keep pointing to the law(Romans 5:9), and that is the MOSAIC law. The commandments still apply, if you're not keeping them-you're not a Christian. Flat out!1 John 2:4

  • @droptozro Sir, God knows your heart. If you think about money a lot, you are not thinking about God.....Sin. If you see your friends house or car and want that....sin. If you think about food more than God....sin. Sir, sin is not just our actions...its our thoughts as well.

Sir, I was not referring to the Lord's prayer.....I was referring to my relationship with the Living God. The holy Spirit convicts me of my sin (which is how I know I am saved), and then I repent.

  • @droptozro Sorry for the multiple posts, You say Romans 5:9 refers to Mosaic law. Actually, Hebrews tells us that the Mosaic Law saved nobody! Can you not see that Paul is telling us that we are "Justified" (Made right with God) BY HIS BLOOD.

There is no law in this verse....no following rules. It is by the blood of Christ ALONE that we are saved! Rom 5:12-17

The problem is you dont believe Jesus accomplished anything on the cross. What does Hebrews 10 mean to you sir??

  • Praise God Brother! Love to see this! Where are you in this preaching? We are in Daytona and do many Open air Preaching in our area. We would love to do some outreaches with you.

  • I plan on coming to Daytona tomorrow or Sunday and plan on preaching all week for Spring Break. I would like to preach tomorrow at Bike Week.

  • T-rex dude, t-rex. when did god make that? 65 million years ago that's when.

  • Does it ever cross the audience's minds how dreadful it must feel to stand up there and be rejected publicly? How hard can it be to band together and mock somebody while getting approval for doing it? I think it was brave of that girl to show him respect at 5:07 as well.

  • I know, huh. She's the only one I have ever seen show him respect.

  • You obviously reject the historical doctrines of traditional Christianity, based on election, thus making you a heretic.

There is NONE good but God.

  • heretical against ungodly and unbiblical traditions, yeah!

  • tell me jesse when did u become a circus character parading around like a fool...i saw ur lecture or sermon at KSU and u actually preached and seemed somewhat knowledgable...in this vid u seem like ur tryin to get ur own reality tv show...

  • The Bible says we are perfected and complete in Him. It is wonderful news! The Church at large doesn't understand the word perfect. But Christ is our Life and he is perfect. Perfect is not a derogatory remark, it is a beautiful life to be lived out at rest in Christ. More than possible!!! Awesome. He came to deliver us from sin, not in it. The normal Christian life is not to sin, but to be the righteousness of God.

  • People die for lies all the time.

  • Nobody dies for what they know to be a lie.

  • Unfortunately, Jesse Morell holds to Moral Government Theology which is a denial of the penal substitutionary atonement of CHRIST. Jesse is also and Open Theist which is a denial that GOD has exhaustive foreknowledge of the future and therefore denies GOD's attribute of omniscience. Jesse's theology is unorthodox and heretical. He asserts that the early Church was wrong in rejecting the teachings of Pelagius! Jesse is pure Pelagian. The Church has always condemned Pelagianism as heresy.

  • Omni = All

    Science = Knowledge.

Does God know all there is to know, or is he just a helpless observer since everything is already known?

  • If I know that my sister is a drug addict and she is going to drugs this evening (it is day) I'm not a helpless observer but merely informed and for sure not bound to the circumstance. knowledgable of it and what is going to take place. How can you place God in time and say, "clearly God is figuring things out as we go." and read Isaiah 46:8-10. Malachi you follow a man who has the heart of a pharisee, the one Jesus spoke of in Matthew 18, and you say, "how is he wrong?" Madness.

  • If all Christianity respected this "moral government" theory, and the wonderful but misunderstood teachings of Pelagius, all people would in the world would be Christians.

Without a moral understanding of God and His punishments, Christianity is hopelessly warped.

  • You forget that people are totally warped. It's not our theories, people love happy endings, they just don't act them out. You probably deny the "sinful nature" yeah?

  • How do you know this? Just a simple question. Cause if you're right then this is heretical. I'm just curious, that's all.

  • Jesus preached "Be perfect" and he was certainly not a heretic.

  • ?????? This guy is preaching self righteousness. He is saying he is better than them by the way he lives. He is preaching on sins and to live morally. He says the difference between him and them is he sins less!!!!

PREACH THE GOSPEL!!!!! Does this guy ever preach the gospel??? A sinner is saved from hell by believing the gospel!!!

I don't get some of you street preachers who favorite this and think it's great??? He's preaching a works salvation...endurance salvation.

  • A "works salvation". No no no. Salvation is by God's grace and mercy, to all those who stop sinning and trust in Jesus. The Bible says that those who confess and FORSAKE their sins will find MERCY. The Bible says that if the wicked will forsake their way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts, than God will abundantly PARDON. God's mercy through Jesus is conditional upon a person forsaking all their sinning.

  • Stop sinning IS WORKS!!!! The verses you are quoting are OT verses that apply to the nation of Israel, which was under a works setup.

Saved or lost, to stop sinning, try to stop sinning, turn from sins, repent of sins, is a work. It is something you do. Anything we do is works. Salvation is by grace through faith NOT OF WORKS.

You need to understand what Paul's gospel is, and anything that you find that teaches a works element(stop sinning, etc..) you need to rightly divide.

  • So was Jesus Christ teaching works gospel when he said in Luke 13:3, 5 "unless you repent, ye shall all likewise perish?"

  • No, Repentence is a fruit of true salvation. If someone doesnt repent we know that they are not saved, but just repenting does not save. True repentance is of the heart and mind, not just outward works.2Timothy2:25"In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;"

, Many that have repented will be in hell. But there will be none that believed that did not repent. Even Paul said that he was not perfect.

  • Philipians 3:9And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

12Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.

  • Repentance is not perfection.

  • Repentance is a change of mind about sinning. Repentance is forsaking and turning away from sin.

  • "Not as though I had already attained" in context is talking about a glorified body. Paul was not physically perfect. You cannot have physical perfection in this life. The best we can have in this life is moral perfection - a pure heart of obedience.

  • he is full of crap

  • repent and believe in the gospel!!, it is true you can be perfect when you born again and don't practice sin any more, who that practice sin is from the devil, and the hell is for the devil, hell is for sinners, so repent and believe in jesus!!

  • Why did that young lady have to whisper that she respected what you are doing? She reminds me of Nicodemus, who secretly encouraged Jesus. It was still good what she did.

  • Jesse unfortunately is a heterodox. He embraces serious errors and loves to call them truth. Also, unfortunately he goes around offending many many people. Cleaning up after him is a tall task. He likes to call it "confrontational" evangelism but it sounds more like to me treating people with contempt. In one of his videos he actually says "God hates these people." It's very hard but I'm praying and hoping the best for him.

  • Do you think confronting people in their sins is a lovely thing to see? When the Kindgom of God gets in the way of selfishness, the result is extreme agitation.

Psalm 5:5 says God hates all workers of iniquity. He still wills they would come to Him, but he couldn't possibly love a hateful rebel as his child - his creation that he longs for, yes. Someone he is in fellowship with, no.

  • Malachi, Jesse is a self-righteous man who comes as a "christian". He calls himself "sinless" at least for periods of time and says that "masterbaters" need to repent. He has very little compassion for people and has become too holy. He preaches a works based religion and forgets that Jesus died while we were still sinners. He also forgets righteous men, Isaiah, called himself unclean... you know he's "open theism" right?

  • but...what happens when you are born again and become a new creature?

  • You bypass mine and I am supposed to answer yours? I've been OA/Eveangelist, Bible College, Servant at my Church, etc... for years. I appreciate your concern and it's a very valid question. I just hope you haven't aligned yourself with this man. He is far from a faithful preacher of the gospel. He speaks of flesh calling it "spirit." Unfortunate but true.

  • As far as I see it, Open Theism Theology is nonissue when it comes to salvation. you don't need to talk about OT when sharing the Gospel.

I've known Jesse personally for several years and he is an upstanding man. He pursues God with all his heart and genuinely loves people.

  • It's nice your so "innocent" when it comes to the reality of what theology is and isn't but you understand Titus 1:9 & 2:7 (and many other places) make "theology" very important. Jesse wouldn't say theology is a non-issue I would hope you wouldn't make that a non-issue, to the contrary, it is a very big issue. In my opinion Jesse doesn't preach the gospel but mans' opinion of it. He also treats people with contempt and without mercy when he preaches. I guess we will have to agree to disagree.

  • Theology is an issue, indeed. But OT I don't think need to make a salvific (sp?) issue. I know many preachers who are soul winners, and believe in OT.

He preaches that man must repent and believe, and continue on living holy.

  • You got the spelling. Religious people aren't saved because they are religious. You understand that? Just look at the Pharisees of Jesus' time. I would like to challenge you. Take a look at Luke 18: 9-14 and then watch this video 4:30-6:02. More specifically 5:38-6:02. Can't you hear the prayer? "Lord, I thank you I'm not a pot smoking frat boy-fornicator like these people"? Furthermore, ask Jesse whether theology has something to do with salvation. It's the difference between knowing God or not

  • You know what. I am really sorry. I got Matthew stuck in my head because I am reading it right now. It's actually Luke 18:9-14. Then take a look at the video from 4:30-6:02

  • HeresyDetector you need to repent! Anyone who "cant wait" for another man who they believe is a reprobate to face the judgment seat should know this: that they know not God.

If you knew God you would weep and mourn over false doctrine and teachers not rejoice in their destruction! Repent!

  • at 5:09, what did that girl say?

    Tough crowd, huh?

  • I think she said, "I just want you to know that I respect what you're doing..." Anyone else get that?
