Pre mixing diesel gas or kerosene into the mix would eliminate the need for heat as all the heat does is make the oil a thinner viscosity for better filtering
@sean400 Sure premixing does make the mix thinner but there is something about the heat that I believe helps release and separate the smaller micron size particles from the oil plus it evaporates any moisture. I always heat even with diesel added. I have run lots of hours of centrifuge filtering in experimenting on what works best for me.
@tinkerman01 y would u put a dry fuel in a oil base fuel' u also say it helps evaporate moisture. have u not been liveing in a real world were the stations r puting water the the under ground tanks. look at megabearlisa u tube she has a good deal going with her son
Hey man! Nice Set up! Im looking to build one of these systems with the Centrifuge. Im going to run used oil in my Deuce and a half. Did you get that centrifuge from PAbiodiesel? Could you source where you got most of your filter housing and fittings?
@dankcorey2424 The centrifuge I bought off ebay a year or so back, its the same as the PAbiodiesel. I believe it's a 60gph. The filter housing was an old Amsoil by-pass filter setup. The braided hose and AN fittings was extras from building a custom fuel setup on a race car. The rest was bought at the hardware store.
Nice setup! How are you heating the oil though. Maybe I just missed it or does the pump itself actually heat it? I've seen another setup where the guy had a couple hot water elements inline. Supposedly having it thinned by heating it gets the centrifuges to get even more out. I'm still brand new to all of this and just trying to get ideas and knowledge before I try to put anything through my diesel. It's a '90 International DTA-360 which has mechanical injection so I'm hoping it'll be tolerant.
@schum009 There is some heat generated from the pump being run but only enough for about 100 deg if I run it long enough. To heat the oil past that temperature I used a small Coleman camping stove that burns Coleman fuel and place it underneath my drum. One tank full heats 20 gallons to 160 or better. At 160 the centrifuge really seems to pull out the dirt quickly. The hotter that you can get your oil the better it will clean up.
RUG is regular unleaded gas. W85 is 85% waste motor oil. 85% waste motor oil and 15% regular unleaded gas is a GREAT ratio to run all the way down to zero degrees.

@tinkerman01 thanks ill keep that in mind might add a hot water heater element

I wonder how that mini Centrifuge would stack up to a tripod based CF with say a 22Oz. bowl :p

I think this:
RUG- regular unleaded gasoline

@poorboy9o9 I.m sorry, what is w85 and RUG? I am running a 50/50 mix with diesel and waste oil in my idi ford 7.3L

@fubecabr Never ran W85, I don't like the idea of Gas in my diesel tank
