I also bet na hindi mo alam ang meaning ng PROOF-OF-CONCEPT, or why even make a proof-of-concept of anything.
pag nabasa ng tubig ang FanBelt nyan, stop na yan. (Water on fanbelt = fail) . Try using chains on the wheel drives and then enclose the remaining belts to keep it dry. peace! merry Christmas and happy new year
Very Impressive guys. Only thing is you might want to keep your speed down You don't want to get any speeding tickets :) Looks like you all are having alot of fun any way keep it up.
Ang galing! Me and my friends are building one soon... Paturo naman please! pangarap ko din yan! hahaha! I study in Mapúa, though freshman pa lang... 3 wheels lang balak ko (1 rear, 2 front)
@NuclearReality - the first thing i did was decide what engine i wanted to use because that would determine the rest of the vehicle design. then i built a mock-up to see where everything would go (ergonomics). then i built the prototype to see if the 6.5 hp engine could carry 5 people up to my target speed (approx. 20 kph for the initial run). Now the 2nd prototype is done.
@NuclearReality - TALAGANG trial and error ang pagdedesign. paki research nyo lang ang definitions ng MOCK-UP, PROOF of CONCEPT, PROTOTYPE PRE-PRODUCTION at PRODUCTION vehicle.
ang mathematical reference ko was my design goal - build a vehicle that will compete with the tricycle in size, capabilities and price points.
1. size - the same FOOTPRINT as the tricycle which came out to 79inches long by 68inches wide and 64 inches high. the HOY! is 64"Long X 50" Wide X 66" High
@yootoober2009 so no computations on heat transfer systems (thermodynamics), strength of materials, or sabi dun sa Mock-up automotive designing, testing it through a wind tunnel (aerodynamics)?
@NuclearReality - i don't expect my vehicle to go much faster than 60kph max. so i did no wind tunnel testing.
i put in air vents around the engine compartment to move engine heat away from people.
i used the weakest, cheapest and lightest materials that i can weld together so they CAN FAIL. that way i will know where i need stronger materials, better design or both. this is because i wanted the vehicle to be as light as possible for my 6.5 hp general purpose engine.
@NuclearReality - ang tricycle ay may dalawang brake lang, normally iisa lang ang gumagana at about 60% efficiency. ang HOY! ay may apat na brake. so if i had 4 brakes at 60% each, then mine is 300% better than a tricycles'.
my wheels and TIRES are regular motorcycle wheels and tires so they are proven products. like i said i don' t intend for the HOY! to exceed 60kph anytime soon.
even the engine still has the governor to keep it at 6.5 hp. without it, it can go up to 18hp.
@yootoober2009 very nice. it'd be a great REPLACEMENT for tricycles. Just for villages though and not for main roads hahah. anyway, i love how things are going, hope you can upload another road test for your current progress, i see you've added a ton of new features
at least mas stable sya kaysa sa tricycle kuliglig. kung gamitin mo kaya eh yung 5-7 speed transmission ng bike or yung concept nun baka may ibibilis pakaya?
@jigssmv15 - ang balak ko i-reverse engineer ang motorcyle transmission para ang engine at transmission ay magkahiwalay kagaya ng mga chopper. that way, i can use any general purpose engine from 6hp to 16hp but the transmission stays the same. sa ngayon it is pretty dangerous to go faster than my homemade brakes (4 wheels) and skinny tires can handle. i want to design the vehicle to encourage owners to customize it, with larger engine, bigger tires, sound systems, and even electric hybrid drive
@jgams1003 thanks sa encouraging words pero, ang plano ko is to work within the established rules - isusunod ko sya sa batas para mai-register. i'm sure marami pa ring pinoy na kagaya mo (natin) na may pangarap. to date, may body na ang HOY!. kulang na lang ay reverse na gumagana all the time. i'm working that now. hindi pa sya perpekto but, in the end, hindi lang sya for reverse but for a forward electric drive na, parang poor man's hybrid. wish me luck and thanks again.
@roboman79 - thanks for the comment. are you talking 6-speed transmission like choppers have? that's the ideal setup i want to use down the line but for now i have modest goals for my vehicle. my 2nd prototype/mock up is almost complete. i will post a video (slide show) of it soon. maybe you can give me ideas on how to reverse engineer a (chopper) transmission with 3 speeds and reverse.

what king of engine do you use ? the one that were used for motorpumps ? o for boats ?

Its a Brilliant Idea.... Creating an Ultra Light Car...Just need to Cover it up....with a very light FiberGlass, to make it look like an old car.
I just wonder, How many Kilometer can it make with just 1 Liter of Gasoline ?
Here is the Fuel Consumption of my Vehicle:
Honda Civic 1.5 with Aircon is 5.5 Kilometer per liter on City Driving.
Honda Motorcycle C70 (70cc) is 50 Kilometer per liter.
150cc Scooter Motorcylce is 25 Kilometer per liter.

@yootoober2009 So you're saying na parang trial and error?
or you had a mathematical reference beforehand?

@yootoober2009 oh okay. but delikado yan in steep downhill slopes kung di kinaya ng break diba? You're using low traction wheels pa, pano yun?

Nice.., i'm thinking of doing the same but having a truck body on it and a 19hp twin cylinder briggs&stratton engine with a 6speed transmission.
