Many people are born with a predisposition for it. It can also be be brought on by traumatic experiences or just bad luck. There is a saying "nature or nurture" meaning born with it or acquired it through life experience. Also traumatic brain injury can cause it. Sad but true rest in peace this great skier.

This is hardly a sport! Anyone could perform well in this event, even on the first try! All you've got to do is fire yourself off that ramp, do a flip here, a twist there, maybe a spin, and you're golden!
