  • To the person who posted this video: why are you so hard on yourself? I thought this video was great :)

  • @senzafine578 ahh thanks <3 :)

  • @senzafine578 I know, I personally thought it was amazing. The song was great, and had many great photos. The person who made it did a fine job making it.

  • lol who the fuck are the beatles? the clash are the only band that matters

  • Re beatles comments: THE BEATLES SUCKED BALLS. The Clash was the Only Band That Matters. Friggin Beatles, what is youtube a history website now?

  • @milowent The phony Beatlesmania has bitten the dust!

  • The Clash didn't last long enough to be compared to the Beatles, very unfortunate that they're still not making music today...RIP Joe Strummer

  • One of my favourite songs by Clash!! hard struggle with Complete control, I'm not down, Guns of Brixton and I fought the law!

  • The song's cut off, dammit. :(

  • Que Alegria me da este tema; sinto-me feliz como numa nuvem, perfeito para combater maus momentos que nos trás a vida e Mick jones profundo como na malha "stay free",obrigado quarteto magico!!!

  • Awesome

  • This is AWESOME!!!!!

  • Nobody could ever touch CLASH 'live; when they were on form. The ultimate 70S Boot Boy Bash St Kids heroes and the best British rock'n'roll band ever bar none.I once sat ligging in the dressing room at Camden Town Electric Ballroom while Mick and Joe planned their set, Paul Cook and Steve Jones smoked spliffs and drunk beers and Iggy Pop stood in the corner looking very out of place in a silver lurex suit. Great memories and what a set that night. RIP JOE, God bless, thanks for the memories.

  • nice photo at 1:21

  • The Clash definitely is the only band that matters.

  • THIS SONG ALWAYS CHEERS ME UP......*drools*

  • Some unseen pics here well done

  • lol 1:30 Guns 'n Playboy

  • @gamer4life444 I meant 2:30

  • this is the first Clash song i've heard in 5 days (i just got back from a buddhist retreat) and not heard this one before. AWESOME!

  • i pistols hanno cercato di distuggerlo, i clash hanno cercato di farlo capire.

  • Classic track!! One of my all time favs

  • i like too much we are the clash. i think that song is one to save from the no cut...the band best too!!

  • Oh my god, 0:57 Joe looks so adorable (no homo, im a 14 year old boy, that is as strait as a ruler)

  • @PBANDSNOW agreed totally! :D

  • @PBANDSNOW

Dude...you're in denial. YOU ARE A GAY AS HELL...LMFAO. Only a Gay dude says "oh my god"....and only a gay dude, would refer to another guy as "adorable." LMFAO...ROFL.

    My advice to you...be a MAN...stop being a pansy...and listen to Rancid.

    Good day to you,

Sir Spanky Elmo Jr (aka King of the Illuminati)

  • @spankyelmojr dont worry, im not gay, and y listen to rancid when i can listen to the clash?

  • @PBANDSNOW

    You are Gay as Hell...LMFAO.

Watch the Rancid Videos on my page...and, perhaps, it will change your status...LMFAO.

Stop using the word "adorable"...stop being a pansy...be a MAN...find yourself a tasty piece of Lobster Pie...stop wearing your sister's underwear...and start listening to Rancid. Hopefully...this will stop your gayness from progressing....LMFAO.

  • @spankyelmojr Sir. Im not gay, and rancid is a horible band. I dont have a sister, im not a pansy. Please stop these messages.

I have nothing more to say.

  • @PBANDSNOW Mr Rancid is just pulling your chain- you owe no apologies, you don't owe him anything. Just ignore him (and Rancid as well ;-) )

  • @crapple009 Its all good, i like the clash, not rancid, and i like women not men. It ok if someone does, i just dont swing that way

  • @PBANDSNOW Not sure if you're a native English-speaker but as the English language boasts the largest vocabulary in the world, there quite a lot of synonyms to choose from and some are better-suited to use than others which can be confusing for others. (that's right I teach English as a foreign language).

I'd say that Strummer looks really cool in the photo you mentioned as opposed to adorable (I'd use that word for anything cute as in babies and toddlers, for example).

  • @PBANDSNOW ...The Clash was probably the most photogenic band in the history of bands. From a visual perspective I've always been in love with them...

  • @PBANDSNOW

joe was a fine lookin guy, dont ned to feel weird bout that, other than that he was the main man in the best band that ever walked this planet

  • @PBANDSNOW, Yeah right, straight as a flexible ruler ;)

  • @MrJa11en How many gay guys do you know that listen to first wave punk? Next to yourself of course.

  • @MrJa11en hey, im only joking buddy, its good to see young folks having an interest in this sort of music, i myself am only 17 :)

  • @MrJa11en Okey dokey then, Im not gay, I just say what I think.

  • @PBANDSNOW It would be okay if you are a "homo." Joe, the Clash and punk generally were all about tolerance, except for crap music that is.

  • @stewajf Im not gay.

  • @PBANDSNOW I gree (: By the way, there's nothing wrong with being homo, and everybody should like Joe, boys or girls or aliens (:

  • @bad13star Im...not...gay.

  • @PBANDSNOW But... When did I tell it? o.O

  • @PBANDSNOW It's ok every one has some sexual feelings for Joe Strummer it's completely natural, dont fear it embrace it lol jk kid

  • agreed

  • ooh baby ooh,.....mick changed it to the gates of the west

  • paul and johnny rotten are rich as a result of punk fashion they created.

  • @bonez1971 They ripped that style off of Richard Hell. Look up the Voidoids, The Heartbreakers, and Television, and you'll maybe a know a bit more about punk history.

  • @braincellgenocide Don't be so bloody stupid. Wake up.

  • Most Clash songs are.

  • this is a brilliant song, which is too underated

  • this song always makes me feel better

  • Awesome song!

  • it cuts off to short

  • but at the same time they were there own style.. but they were punks.. they came from nothing.. and they proved that they were some of the most musicly enclined punks out there.. they emerged in the london 77 scene..

  • how the fuck could they not be a punk band... Joe strummer was a hippy before he joined the clash.. he was in a pub rock band called the 101ers... joe strummer had a total switch of personality when he joined the clash.. paul simonen didnt know how to play the bass in the early days.. when they were just starting they were hanging out with people like the sex pistols behind bars and in alleys.. thats how they met the ramones.. where white riot is totaly influenced from..

  • This is one of their best songs. A rare jem.

  • they are not punk they are not rock they are not ska they are not reggae.. THEY ARE CLASH! ;D rip JOE!

  • Listen to their first albuma

  • Comment removed

  • Um yeah but why should they be classified as a "punk" band? I just find that term limiting. Is it because of their obvious political and social commentary? By your logic Limp Bizkit should be considered punk because they helped usher in that awful nu metal shit. Also I find it very interesting that a movement that considers itself anti-censorship has members that have done everything in their power to make my comment un-readable by thumbs-downing it.

  • Um no. Limp Hip-kit etc. should not be considered as a punk band and I have no interest whatsoever in them or what they stand for. British bands that formed around 76-77 were labelled as punk by the scumbag press. Although at the time the term punk was a commonly used American term it gained higher usage in Britain to describe the bands of the time (76-77). I'll let you buy a dictionary and you can look it up. Ta ta.

  • You're argument is useless. You give absolutely no reason why Limp Bizkit shouldn't be considered punk besides "I don't think they should be considered a punk band" My whole point is the term "punk" basically seems to hold zero meaning. It's more of an attitude than an actual musical movement.

  • More of an attitude eh? Was hoping you'd ask that. Fuck off & get a life. Theres some punk attitude for you.

  • Hey thanks! At least you're now starting to give me a picture, albeit a vague one, of what punk might stand for. Oh and ps; the "fuck-off" sentiment is absolutely mutual.

  • Ha ha. You just dont get it do you.

  • Your point--as it pertains to this conversation-- is what, exactly?

  • Linkin Park by any other name would suck just as badly as thet do now.I gotta go-ICP tickets are on sale and I want front row-FREE FAYGO SODA

  • @x1xex juggalos are fucking gay

  • @x1xex juggalos are fucking gay

  • gates of the west...

    city of the dead...

    stop the world...

    the prisoner...

    pressure drop...

    1977...

all b-sides but they're great!!! great!!!

  • All those b-sides were on Black Market Clash. Spent the whole summer of 95 listening to that album. Convinced me The Clash were the greatest band ever. Many will disagree but they're wrong.

  • Awesome song! Loved it then love it now.

  • even their b-sides were fantastic! what a band

  • one of my fav clash songs..never get sick of this!! simply marvelous!!!!!!!

  • "you can't be a prophet in your own country"....

now I paraphrase - 'tis better to make the best music ever then stop... Joe Strummer says something like that on the 'live DVD' but more eloquently... we wouldn't want The Clash to have become U2?

  • i dont think joe ever would have become anything like U2. because for one, U2 was never good. and joe had lightyears more sense than bono.

  • i) it's not a video...

ii) thank you for taking the time...

iii) wish I the patience to do the same...

iv) The Clash - the best music ever & don't they take a good picture...

    v) thanks once again to duharenboll - whatever that means...

  • just wondering how did we get the quote the only band that matters. not arguing because its true

  • when i hear songs like this, it makes me really miss joe.

  • Dude,

Thanks for this post! You gave me a glimmer of what I used to feel like at 20, when I was way smarter, way stronger, and sure I knew everything -- but knew the Clash knew more. Now, ha, I'm not so sure we knew much about anything! Pax!

  • i love this track. Its on the cost of living ep. Haven't heard it for years. Thanks for posting

  • this is an amazing song to me this could just be better then rudie cant fail and i love that song so catchy

  • One of their best songs.

  • amazing

  • hey!, don´t say any word ´gainst the clash!..got tha´creepy?????

  • I thought "Cut the Crap" was okay. Ever heard Joe's Solo " Earthquake Weather" cd ?

  • Earthquake Weather is the lost Strummer album. Most people don't know about or haven't heard it. It's one of my favorites. Tons of Strummer soul and Zander Schloss on lead guitar lays down some sick licks and leads. There's some other great Strummer stuff from this late 80's era including permanent record. You guys should check it out if you haven't yet.

  • Cut The Crap is an amazing album...dont hear those idiots critics...the only thing that i dont like from this album is the production..also i dont like that some instruments (like drums and bass) never recorded by Paul and Pete but from synths and drum machine programming by the idiot Bernie Rhodes(Jose Unidos)...Joe's Earthquake Weather is also an amazing album and i like Walker soundtrack album too.Dont forget the 101ers(Joe's first band)

  • Yeah, Cut the Crap is not too bad at all, I like it better than Eartquake Weather, Although Gangsterville, Highway One Zero Street & Sleepwalk are pretty awesome tunes.

  • Actually i believe that if The Clash never split as a band we will probably talking now for a band even bigger than The Beatles....(in my heart they are)

  • Well said!

  • @duharenboll exacto....

  • They were certainly a versatile band. The Clash on Broadway is a 3cd set- Each cd is a different sound, I love it !

  • @xsandinistax The Clash would have never been as big as the Beatles, A) they would have to sell out in messages. and B) Most people are too stupid to understand the Clash

  • @vboredv i agree most people are way too stupid too appreciate the clash

  • @xsandinistax.

    .

True. The Clash and Joy Division would have made more timeless music in the 1980's had they not ended as they did.

    .

At least we have what the did record and I got to see them 5 times.]

    .

Yep, they were as awesome and as great as you think.

  • @xsandinistax

There's NO song of the Beatles which would be insignificant, even songs like "Rain" ou "I Call Your Name" (which aren't on albums).

We can't say the same for The Clash. Sandinista! is full of fillers !

  • @navi077 Sandinista ??? very wrong example, go back to "All my loving"

  • @xsandinistax The Beatles was a band only a decade too. I love The Clash so much, but there is nothing upon the Beatles !

  • not one clash album has let me down (except cut the crap of course) but even then we are the clash is a good song

  • the same for me! :)

  • Don't apologize for your "crappy "video...just keep doing it

  • fucking great song. black market clash , in a true and just world, woulda been all over the fucking radio like the top 40 pops. who knows maybe they were i was a wee lad then but all i know is that this is a great and i have fond memories of lying around on the carpet all afternoon listening to the clash

  • 2:31 is funny.

  • so is paul with his girly mag and gun mag. like a little boy who got caught.

  • Comment removed

  • i dont think it was considered a great clash song since it was on one of their more overlooked albums. Im sure if this song came out on london calling or sandinista it would get alot more credit.

  • as Long Time Jerk, as the other treasures hidden in Super Black Market Clash and Give 'em Enougth Rope... a kind of pleasure you have to deserve <3

  • hey, great video

    and fantastic pictures.

    thanks.

  • man, this and death or glory are so ridiculously over looked.

a MUCH better duo than rock the casbah and should i stay or should i go if you ask me.

  • Well i really like it!!!

  • lol its NOT crappy at all =] its rly rly good

  • thank you very much! :D

  • np =D you should keep on making videos. ugh im only 13 and im like the only one that likes the clash at my school lol

  • what do u mean, the clash are the reason some of the greatest bands are around today, green day, rise against, sum 41 with out the clash i cant see these bands around

  • exactly.

and everyone thinks they're so great and so new, but so many bands were doing what they're doing now about 20 or 30 years ago.

don't get me wrong, i have no problem with bands like green day and sum41, in fact they're a couple of my favourite bands, but i just think some kids are completely oblivious to the originals.

  • These guys aren't that original either. A lot of their ideas came from old rock and roll, from the 50s and 60s.

  • too true.

  • not really. they were probably more influence by reggae than rock and roll.

  • Actually The Clash were influenced by Black Music(thats reggae, rock n roll, funk, folk both) hehehhehe :) we owe too much to The Blues man...to the slaves...im standing by them!!!

  • Same, i'm 15 and i love The Clash!

  • I wish that I was as cool as Paul.

I never understood why this wasn't considered a "great" Clash song

  • Why isn't this song popular? I mean, "Rock the casbah" is popular as hell, in my opinion, this one is better.

  • Great little collection of Clash pics- top tune too!

  • thank you :D

  • Rated it 5, favorite and downloaded!

    Fuckin' great song

  • thanks :)

    It's their best song I think! :D

  • "I'm standing at the gates of the West

"I take my pulse and the pulse of my friend

    "The city casts a shadow

    "Will I see you again?"

    Perhaps my favourite song

  • nice vid, enjoyed it

  • god i love this.

rancid does a nice live cover too. its nice to see someone giving credit to this song... its a forgotten gem.

  • rancid is basically a group giving the clash credit from the start..

  • the clash are like no other

  • Hey, thanks, this is one of my favourite Clash songs! I hadn't heard it since my brother took his Super Black Market Clash album with him when he moved out. :(

  • Very good, it isn't crap. This is one of my favourites. 5 stars!

  • A fabulous song. Unfortunately underrated. One of their best.

  • Great song, best on Super Black Market Clash.

  • i love the picture at 0:21

  • Great song! 5 stars

  • This song was released in the US as a 45 RPM sized insert in the second Clash album, although it played at 33 RPM. Its high energy straight ahead pop differed with the tunes on the main LP, which were the more typical Brit punk of the late 1970's.

  • yup! ive liked them since i was about 12, 1st time i heard em.

  • best band,ever

  • the vid isn't crap ;D

    i should upload more clash..

  • my fav band!!!!!!!!!!!

  • same here!!!!:D

  • サイコーのバンド!

  • yeah!

  • wheres the end of the song jezz u ruined it jezz.

  • ehh what?it was the end of the song

    hahahahahaha

  • I hate when that happens lol

  • The Best band ever..

  • I love this song. The Clash is amazing.

  • this song touches me in ways a chick cant lmao!

  • no girls touch you...XD

  • your mum didnt push at birth did she?...twat xD

  • LOL

  • Nothing crappy about this, it's 100% class. I remember this from when I was a kid, it was part of an EP single, and I Fought the Law, the three 'b' sides (does that make sense!) they were all sublime. Groovy Times, Gates of the West, and a different version of Capital Radio. If I remember correctly the EP had a gate fold sleeve and if you looked deep inside there was money.... Ohh I can smell it all now !!!

  • 100% correct ,this and Groovy Times are two of the Clash`s finest,it cost me a weeks pocket money in 1979:)

  • Recorded after they toured the States in February 1979, before they hit the rehearsal studio to craft their masterpiece, London Calling.

  • I love this song

  • west side is the best!!!!!!!!!!!

  • These lads are legends. I grew up with them although I was 300 miles away. Girls, you don't know what you're missing. LOL.

  • what does he mean by 44 & 8? is he talking about getting to chelsea in manhattan and being a "success band"??

  • 44th and 8th are streets on manhattan

  • He is talking about making it from Camden town in an unheated rehearsal studio and eating cooked poster paste (Paul actually did this for dinner one night), to being in NYC, which at that time was still a cultural mecca.

You couldn't go online, you had to physically go to a place and hear the music and get the vibe back then. So they made their first trip/pilgrimmage to NY and wrote about it a few weeks later.

Living on the east coast in the late 70's, many of us did this - go up to NY.

  • this song is on "The Cost of Living E.p"

its in the singles box set.

i fought the law, city of the dead and groovy times were also on it.

  • Im sry this isnt a crappy video...

great pics and a nice song!

  • The Clash were such cool guys. The picture of Paul at 2:36-8 is particulary awesome. His camel toe in the picture right after that is, however,... not so awesome. Cool video, great song anyways.

  • I've never heard this before. It doesn't seem to be on any albums? :( So how do you get such things? :)

  • you can get it on the album SUPERBLACK MARKET CLASH
