Wow, I remember this song. I had forgotten all about it, but it comes flooding back. Love the crowd. Amazing what a difference a year or two made. When the show started, everyone was all preppie and pastel. There is still some here, but you can see the Adam Ant/Duran Duran/new wave influences by this time. Big improvement on the fashions.
i was about 13 or 14 years old when i got to go on a school trip to see solid gold in person at ktla in los angeles, and i remember they were the guest and sang this song. of course they sang it about 5 times to get the right performance they needed, but i remember enjoying the song. i still have my ticket too!
(contd. ) I also remember the tv station wich ran it, KHJ-9, wich was the coolest local tv station on the west coast. It also ran 'SCTV and the Elvira show did'nt it? If I remember right, after the show was canceld they'd replaced it with another, somewhat diferently formated, music vid program wich was also hosted by Blade, the title of wich escapes me.
Yeah I also remember MV3 since I was a youth in Southern Cali at the time. It specialized in music of the then current new wave genre, just before all the real super-biggies like Michael Jackson, Prince and Madona rose up and usurped the whole music scene, and it featured both the best acts of that era ( X, Devo, Talking Heads,Split Enz,The Plugz ) and also the worst ( Kajagoogoo, Wham,Thompson Twins,Bananarama ).
I remember MV3. We used to get it up in Canada. That Richard Blade now hosts bodybuilding shows and that Karen was such a ditzy airhead. Still is. I heard she got fired from a dollar store.
.....That is until hacks like 'Poison came along and killd androgeny by giving it a bad image, and thus paving the way for all of those slothingly foul-smelling grunge neanderthals
Another cool unknown 80's group with a cool gender bending singer. They just loved those gender bender vocalists in the 80's did'nt they? Well I dig'em too.
I love the extended start on this video. I haven't been able to find this anywhere on CD or vinyl with the long intro, and there appears not to have been a 12" version released.
Wow, what a blast from the past! I used to rush home from high school and college to watch MV3 every day and because I didn't have cable TV (i.e., MTV) back in the day. Have not seen any MV3 in over 25+ years! Thanks for posting, will watch all the clips. Thanks for the memories!
love this song, has anyone covered it? i'd love to see The Donnas do this song. they absolutely killed with "safety dance" which is one of my fav covers ever.
I was oly kidding when I saig Carole was a nice guy, lol. I wasn't sure whether Carole was transexual or not,but kinda cool singer and some cool tunes too.
Iremember back in the mid 80's Rough Trade appeared on a show on the Playboy channel, and sang 'All Touch" Carole Pope was dresed in a very, very short white fringed mini dress with a chain around her waist and she was barefooted. I thought she looked very much like Grace Slick of Jefferson Airplane/Starship
Wow, I remember one of my *penpals* telling me about a show called MV3 in 1983 and I remember feeling like I was missing out on something because I lived in New York and we didn't get it. I've always loved this song, but I've never seen the video! Thanks for posting this.
Rough Trade played my highschool in Mississauga Ontario. Wow, this takes me back. Rush and Triumph played my school too. Wish you were there? It's true.
amen dudeman. i actually have this video on vhs - used to tape record vids on mtv in early 80's. i bet 90% of people who "love" 80's music NEVER knew this even existed.
Mucho fukkin' thanks to the mighty "crashsite000". You are a true brother....I never thought in a million years I'd see this again! I always dug this song!

Although not a regular, I was a dancer on a two or three episodes of MV3. Good to see these clips!

Another show that would be awesome on DVD... if the music industry wasn't so hard to deal with.

Great track to listen to while you mowing the lawn with the line "Like a razor blade on grass, all touch - but no contact".

LOL! Yes, that sentiment is great, but I think she says "on glass" - no? That might sound worse... ;)
