@IAmFromAfghanistan Well apart from your contentious claim that Russia is the "defender in Europe," I just had to correct your historical error, the German and Austro-Hungarian Empires actually did defeat the Russian Empire in WWI. But otherwise, yea, Russia has been at the frontier of Europe and so has almost always played a role in separating/defending it from the outside world. They have also been a threat to Europe sometimes: 1850s and the Crimean War.

@Panakeje If we talk about "Europe" in the geographical sense, Britain was most definitely NOT a threat to continental Europe because they were an island nation and their power was primarily naval. Russia on the otherhand was a continental power. It was Russia that first violated the sovereignty of the Ottomans by marching into Moldavia and Wallachia, only after that did the Ottomans react and after that came the Brits/French. The point is the allies feared the potential of Russia taking Europe.

@Panakeje The fear was that if Russia defeated the Ottomans, their power would be enough to run roughshod over the rest of Europe. Given the final result of the Crimean War though, that fear turned out to be relatively unfounded and exaggerated.

@cooks1234 You see, the mass murder of Native Americans was seen as acceptable at that time, believe it or not, Native Americans weren't seen as real people by many. No one looked at it as extermination (although it was). The mass murder of a European nationality was looked at completely different. The ability to exterminate an entire people with that kind of efficiency stemmed off from the USSR. The Ukrainian genocide was an inspiration to Himmler and Hitler, it was brought up many times.

@LazdinsE yes i know all about that ive done research on wiki ive seen tones of films on the subject.but ive also heard the other side and use logic and have had questions such as for one how could the ussr become a superpower in such a short time if it killed millions of its people espscially the farmers and workers?

how could there been farmers if they took all the grain(total)wouldnt that mean all farmers have died and new ones would have to be created which wouldve taken time and resources
