  • @Goodmilk167 It's an alto. A beautiful Cannonball Gerald Albright Signature Series alto.

  • It's a shame Phil stop singing their songs packed hearts for generations, I am a saxophonist and pride in doing the sax solo of this wonderful song. I love hearing this song!

  • He sounds just like Virgil Davis! :)

  • Wow that was amazing

  • dos grandes de la musica.... grande gerald.......

  • albright uses a signature sax of him, from Cannonball.

  • does anyone know what kind of hard rubber/metal mouth pieces gerald plays on?

  • @dddddaaaannnnny a Beechler Diamond Inlay Alto Saxophone Mouthpice, i have one, VERY hard to control!!!!!!!!!!!!!VERY!!its like a freakin lion man, but the ofvertones are soo sweet...

  • @blueraspberry100 depend the opening, i have S8S, and soo far it dosent say no for anything, but i feel tired after awile playing is very opened for me, so i think am fine with an 8

  • @dddddaaaanthe closest moddle you can get to hiss is a beechler with diamond inlay

    with 6 tips opening

costs £92 i got it for 45 of ebay

and he uses gerald albright series cannonball sax stone series!

  • What kind of saxophone is Albright using here??

  • @rapidfiredude its the gerald albright signature alto sax

  • Magnifico..

  • exelente tema ,exelente solo

  • Easy on the Santa clause comment. His name is leeland sklar and he is an amazing studio bassest and has also played with James Taylor.

  • Move over Phil!!! LOL

  • nice bass playing by santa clause!! no but seriously Gerald is the man!!!!!!!

  • Funny!

  • Gerald sure makes his "Cannonball Gerald Albright Signature Series" sing on this solo. The altissimo seems to come out effortlessly for him.

  • 1:45 - I didn't know Gandalf was in the band lol.

Best sax solo I have EVER heard. Gerald Albright is a beast and he has been a huge source of inspiration for me. He's the reason I picked up the sax to begin with.

  • @FerrariDude24 a good sax player indeed!!! BETTER THAN KENNY G... Cannot even be compared!!

  • @FerrariDude24 Gerald is been the reason for many years to play for me,all his solos, and his dictions in every note, clear sound, now am trying an S7S inlay, the 8 was big for me, am getting his sound for sure,i dont want my sound , for what?

  • @Ryosuke324 yeah, his sound is definitely one to go for. My mouthpiece is a Meyer 5M, which a lot of people don't seem to like for some reason, but I love it because it has wonderful feedback and feel, and I have a lot of control over my technique with it. I play it through a Selmer Mark 7 alto, and it performs beautifully. I recently picked up a P. Mauriat Swing 55JX tenor and am looking for a metal mouthpiece for it. Definitely thinking a Beechler of some sort.

  • @FerrariDude24 Well today i called Beechler factory, and they told me about the C22 mouthpiece, its the brighter of all of them.i heard about meyers, the final question is this,Does the mouthpiece allow me to do anything i want at any moment,at any register? what i found in beechler was 2 things the agility ,and the sound.

  • @Ryosuke324 Yeah, it's a pretty agile mouthpiece. I like it because it has wonderful feel and response. The only thing is that it's definitely not a mouthpiece for beginners, because it's extremely articulate. Overall, its a very agile mouthpiece, and the sound is second to none, in my humble opinion. And keep in mind that it's all a matter of personal preference. A mouthpiece that I might totally dig might not be someone else's cup of joe. But I would definitely recommend it.

  • @FerrariDude24 my friend i got my C22, is awesome!!,but i agree with you is not for beginners, i notice something about the opening,is very wide when it goes into your mouth, i wouldn't recommend this mouth in a wide number after 7, for some reasons,1 no matter what number of reed you will always heard the sound of the blowing SSSS behind all the notes, 2- the reed don't vibrate against the tip of the mouthpiece, i think a perfect opening is between 5 and 6

  • @FerrariDude24 looks more like dumbledore

  • 3:47

  • so amazing :))

  • even the altissimo is sooo in tune

  • can anyone email me this song ?

  • pompey if you have an mp3 player u can download

  • That saxophone solo just makes every hair on my body stand on end...

  • This isnt jazz...

  • the only reason it's considered "jazz" is because gerald albright is there

  • True, but saying this is amazing jazz is like calling Spice Girls a metal group..

  • HAHA, nice analogy ;)

  • your right what, itunes classifys this song as rock. the part of amazing jazz i was referring to was Gerald Albrights solo

  • it's a pop rock sax solo. not every sax solo is jazz, people.

  • TWO WORDS 'SAX GURU'

  • That Altisimo is crazy clean and smooth.

  • i just saw Gerlad Abright in concert , to see him play, live is out of this world, his CD's don't do his playing justice, if you any of you ever get a chance to see him, you'll be blown away at how good he really is. i have never see anyone play like him live

  • Here i was thinking the solo from whitney houstons "I will always love you" song was as good as it gets.. But this solo....every time i hear it, it just tears my heart out.. Scary..

    Big respect.

  • That solo on Whitney's song was played by another smooth jazz sax-player... Kirk Whalum.

  • Just looked into some Kirk Whalum clips..

Just awesome, thanx for the tip

  • The saxophone player is intelligent

I think. He was enjoying his music not easygoing.oh......voice like angels.

    I love it

  • The saxophone player is intelligent

I think. He was enjoying his music not easygoing.oh......voice like angels.

    I love it

  • yea yeah..i just got a vanderen A5 mouthpiece...with my selmer reference 54 alto..i like the sound sound so i just i'll still with that set up..for my soprano i use the mouthpiece that came with it. i like that sound too so i just i'll use that too (not that i've tried n e other mouthpiece for the soprano lol)

  • the solo is the good thing about the song

  • Does anyone knows gerald's mouthpiece set-up??

  • Man, it's not his mouthpiece nor setup, nor the sax, it's him playing :) I am sure it'd be another sax, even a student model, he'd sound almost the same. Really, practice is the key, not expensive equipment.

  • i'm pretty sure your right....off the practice rooms i go.

  • Wish you best luck with it:)

  • i disagree abit with you there. I agree that pratice is the key but if you are using a crap mouthpiece and horn then you chances of producing a good tone are reduced. If that was the case that pro's sound the same in student models then why do they go to the bother of buying expensive and better class of instrument/mouthpiece? I use selmer super action 80 mk 3 alto and sop and a yamaha custom z and no way would i go on to use a student model after hearing the tone they produce!

  • But it will not *drastically* improve your performance, or change the sound. I know you can get a pro sound from a student horn/mouthpiece from my personal experience. It's harder than on a good horn, but it's possible because good tone comes from you in the first place. The good horn/mp adds more subtlety to the sound quality and is easier to play but you're the one producing the sound. If you can play they hear it on any horn. If you can't, Mark VI is not much of a help.

  • ure right, pretty simple ;)

  • Everything you just is correct!!! You also have to look at the place where is playing and the setup of the sound system. Those also can make the tone of the sax sound a little bit different!

  • @HenryKorol true, i agree, i play a student yamaha, no f# or anything, i stilll get good gigs though, although i really really want me a selmer soloist. dats a nice sax. albright seems to own the prettiest horns though

  • He says that he plays on Beechler mouth pieces for all his saxes except for his soprano...if that answers your question....

  • yeah he uses a beechler diamond inlay. He uses the widest lay you can get which is pretty big so if you dont have lungs like bellows you have no chance of blowing it. Good mouthpieces, i have one my self. Just remember that tone is a individual thing, just coz you have the mouthpiece does not mean you are gonna immediatly sound like him. Takes alot of time and practice. He also uses a selmer reference 54 alto which are really expensive.

  • Yes, you might not sound like him at all. It's physiological thing. The mouthpiece works for his "configuration", it won't necessarily work for you. You have to try many different mouthpieces and pick the one that works best for you. Also I would not recommend trying to copy the sound of anyone you like. Learn what makes you like his sound and borrow that from the player. But do not try to copy his sound, it's devastating for building your own style.

  • yea yea...i just got a vandoren A5 mouthpiece ...with my slemer reference 54 alto, i like the sound i got. so i'll just stick with that set-up..for my soprano i use the stock mouthpiece that it came with..i like that also..(not that i've tried n e other mouthpiece for the soprano lol)

  • "selmer reference 54" not true any more: "Cannonball Gerald Albright Sginature model"

  • man geralds awesome but did u notice the guy in the background playin guitar looks like dumbledore

  • lol Nice 1

  • this music touches my heart!

  • Fab sax solo, gerald is a genius.

  • Now that's a sax solo :)

  • fantastic solo and great version i like new armonis on saxophone

  • Amazing! Phil ALWAYS uses the tightest musicians. I love his melodies. Timeless stuff.

  • they are both great ... phil and gerald!
