How to do the Shiny Mew glitch

I found a way to get any R/B/Y pokemon that can be evolved to be a shiny pokemon on G/S/C. Without action replays or gamesharks.

@ShinyDragonHunter Yes, there is. You do the same thing as the mew glitch, but don't make the other Pokemon faint. You just use growl or tail whip until it says "Nothing Happened!", then you run. c: Here's the video where I learned how to do it, "How to Level Up a Pokemon From lvl 1 to lvl 100"

Erm... the reason why its a ditto is because Game freak never thought that someone would face a wild mew. When mew uses transform, the game then treats it as a ditto using transform. When you catch a *wild* mew while its using transform you'll get a ditto.

All of those extra steps you did are pointless, just do the mew glitch and let it transform.

The game take the mew as ditto because the only pokemon in these games that can use transform in the wild is ditto and mew but mew its a glitch so it doesn't count as a normal wild pokemon

Lol, I did this glitch just using Red and only Red. But I didn't get a Shiny Mew. Just a normal one. And it was beast. xD

A rough mistake in the game. If a Pokemon is transformed and caught, the game is a Ditto, independent of which Pokemon is it really.

I think u killed the glitch when u met wild growlithe. U should save the game before entering pkmn mansion and use the repel before the basement. DItto should be only pokemon which u meet.

Sardell, if you're having troubles getting your yellow version to connect, you should try blowing out the cartrage. Sometimes dust makes the game unreadable. If that doesn't work, it's time for a new game pack. If all else fails, I'm sorry, its glitched. > .>

I'm pretty sure this has been explained, but the reason ditto shows up is because Stadium reads only the pkmn picture byte, not the pkmn byte (which is immediately before/after it). Might be vise-versa. I /think/ it'd fix itself if you coppied it to PC ingame then back.

from what i understand, Shiny pokemon turn up at matching statistics....

(example)

Speed=10

Defense=10

Special=10

i dont think Attack stat matters.

but i caught a bunch of mews on yellow, different levels,

i raised one to equal stats with calcium/ect..traded to silver and it wasnt shiny..and i have one with all equal stats of 11 (including attack) without leveling it up and not giving it calcium/iron/ect. so it was naturally equl stats.

i traded itto silver and t wasnt shiny...

it aint a shiny mew its just a mew you can get on yellow. You cant get A Shiny Mew you can only get a plain old mew. you get get a shiuny mew the same way on blue or red but not yellow.

Maybe, When a pokemon use transforme the game will call some function to replace the moves and the stats. The function will be the same to all pokemon that learn tranform. As soon as it call it the game will assume all the variables from the principal pokemon that knows tranform, ditto. They diden't detect the glitch because no other pokemon knowing transform than ditto is catchable.

Try hacking the game and make a wild pokemon learn transform by level up, ex, a pidgey learn transform at level 6. Battle it, let it transform and catch it.

Red blue and yellow came out to public with a lot a bugs and glitchs. Maybe they didn't expect the game to succed at all.

In gold and silver they hv reorganized all the data and fixed a lot of this glitches.

I think I know why Mew is Ditto. In the games, as you know, Mew cannot appear in the wild. And in the original games, when Ditto used transform, it transformed into another pokemon. I think that in the game in order to avoid catching the pokemon Ditto transformed into, they made it that any pokemon that used transform would be caught as a Ditto. They did that because Mew was the only Pokemon that could learn transform other tham Ditto, and it didn't appear in the wild.

Treat the Mew EXACTLY as you would when performing the Blue Ditto cheat. That is, use your red Gyrados, use Mimic, Mimic Transform and then just transform into eachother for a few turns.

To get the Entei, Suicune, and Raikou title screen and also unlock Round 2(R2), you have to clear Round 1(R1). Then to get the Lugia and Ho-oh title screen, you have to clear Round 2(R2). White City is basically night in Round 2.
