The standard for elders/preachers/pastors is in Titus 1:6-9. Please uphold it, & don't lower it for anyone. Compromising the Word to justify sin is not of God.

& yes, David sinned greatly, & the consequence of his rebellion was that God took his child. If anything, the consequences of David's rebellion should be used to DISCOURAGE sin...not sweep sin under the carpet for a New Covenant preacher. God's standard for New Covenant preachers is high, not low.

Many religious leaders in the institutional church believe that only they have authority to "give a word from the Lord." They see themselves as Moses, climbing Mount Horeb to "get a word from God" for the ppl, when in fact Moses was a shadow of JESUS CHRIST. & now that Christ has come, He gives a Word from Heaven to all born again Believers thru the Holy Spirit, & the entire Body of Christ has spiritual authority from Jesus to share His Word. Liston's view on authority is unbiblical.

I have no idea what the beef is with the Bishop, but there is one thing I know about God. He will not appreciate the bashing of His prophet that is going on on this sight. Doers of the word cannot be judgers of the word. God has and will use whomever he sees fit. The judgment will come from God and God alone. Too bad he doesn't live an ounce of what he preaches. Anybody can preach a "sermon" and move the crowd. Heck, my 5 year old neice can PREACH, but living the word and accountability is a horse of a different color. Does he practice what he preaches? NO! It would be nice if the message and the messenger were married, but sadly too many talk a good talk, but walk contrary to what they preach. I truly hope he turns from wickedness and back to God.

It's sad that ppl are lowering the standard for New Covenant preachers. God is holy, & the standard for elders in the New Covenant is higher than it was during the Old Covenant. Yet these folks will try to use king David, Solomon, & everyone else's sin to justify the rebellion of modern-day preachers.
