No, it's not. A sellout is a completely different thing.
Secularized christians, or some of them who I've met, have to live with both the scientific and religious mindset. Some of them emphasize the importance of making a difference between believing and knowing. Where religion correlate to believing and science (today!) correlates to knowing while still, belief in...
Yes, that's true.. What do you want to say with that?
No. Not necessarily.
Huh?
Atheists and christians have a tendency to not get along because the atheists thinks it's more important to believe whats true rather than believing what feels (or is(/could be) for the best. Compare with Santa Claus. Here we don't seem to bother that santa isn't for real, we let our kids believe he is. But when it comes to religion it's really really...
I believed in Santa when I was little, and it certainly did me no harm. But the difference is that eventually everyone ridicules belief in Santa. Not to mention there is no dogma in 'Santa-ism'. It's not a correct analogy, so don't use it.
Also, I am in favour of the destruction of religion because it is a waste of time and money. Do you know how many millions go into religious endeavour?
Most religions come with a lot of good things. However people are mislead sometimes to do evil deeds, i.e. suicide bombing and such.
Atheists, correct me if im wrong, don't like religion because they think religion has something to do with suicide bombing, i.e. get rid of religion = get rid of suicide bombing, israel-palestine conflict and so on.

And, even though it'd seem more rational to believe in science than in religion, religion is often preferred because it gives a good feel. So all of the sudden, the debate wether or not religion is true is not interesting any more.
Don't get me wrong; I am sure that were religion to be abolished, people would find something else to replace it. But I would hope that it would be at least a progression.
As I said. Religion isn't the problem. Social and financial injustice is the problem. If you fight religion it's like fighting the gloves of the guys that you have a problem with. Good luck.
I agree that religion isn't THE problem. I liken Religion to guns or swords (weapons, really). Yes without it some people would still do bad things, but I bet you the number and severity of those bad things will decrease.
So if I understand you correctly, you think religion is contributing to the problem and isn't merely a symptom of another, less visible problem? Maybe just like guns are contributing to the number of murders?
Guns are abolishable, religion is not. If you want to get rid of religion theres no way you're gonna do it by directing arguments, dislike or votes against religion. You should, if you want to be pragmatic, which is the most rational approach direct it elsewhere.
But I may influence others. At the moment I am 19, and as such have little power in the 'outside' world.
However, on the internet you have the ability to have a voice, no matter what. And millions can see your views and your reasoning. So for now, this suffices until I can take things on a more 'real' stage.

No. You did not answer me properly. Give me a public name. You sold out with that answer.
It's like me quoting someone, claiming they represent something, but without giving their name. It's a sellout.
I've talked to many 'secularised christians' and I don't see how they contributed to any debate.
Give some examples. Statements are all very well when you can't corroborate them with any evidence.

@herrkarlson
"Making a difference between believing and knowing". Do you mean distinction instead of difference?
Quantify your statements. A scientific mindset is basically: "In order for me to believe that something is so, I must find sufficient evidence".
So surely a "religious mindset" must be begotten by a scientific mindset?
I have an idea that you may disagree...I have a stronger idea that nothing that you will say will have any logic to it, too.
Example of a positive contribution?

Hard to say whats worse, maniacal religious nuts or the ardent cult of prosytelizing verbal dirreah peddlers.
