I have read the bible. I couldn't tell you how many times. It was forced on us by our mother in the form of daily bible study secessions. One hour each twice daily. went to Church every Sunday mourning an Evening and on Wednesday Nights. Had VBS classes every year. I still have nightmares about it. My mother believes deeply in the Apocalypse and still does to this day. I'm 41 years old and still have haunting images of being left behind. they have fill my earliest childhood memory's

Most christians who live in (integrated in!) secularized societies. Try finding a few and talk with them. You'll see how Dawkins arguments fall when religion isn't viewed upon from a strictly scientific view. (Just as preachers arguments on religion falls when they´re viewed from a scientific viewpoint.)

Quantify your statements. A scientific mindset is basically: "In order for me to believe that something is so, I must find sufficient evidence".

I believed in Santa when I was little, and it certainly did me no harm. But the difference is that eventually everyone ridicules belief in Santa. Not to mention there is no dogma in 'Santa-ism'. It's not a correct analogy, so don't use it.

Also, I am in favour of the destruction of religion because it is a waste of time and money. Do you know how many millions go into religious endeavour?

Most religions come with a lot of good things. However people are mislead sometimes to do evil deeds, i.e. suicide bombing and such.

Atheists, correct me if im wrong, don't like religion because they think religion has something to do with suicide bombing, i.e. get rid of religion = get rid of suicide bombing, israel-palestine conflict and so on.

It's much like hating gloves cause you once got punched by one.

I agree that religion isn't THE problem. I liken Religion to guns or swords (weapons, really). Yes without it some people would still do bad things, but I bet you the number and severity of those bad things will decrease.

Guns are abolishable, religion is not. If you want to get rid of religion theres no way you're gonna do it by directing arguments, dislike or votes against religion. You should, if you want to be pragmatic, which is the most rational approach direct it elsewhere.

I have, I've read the bible front to back probably 8 or 9 times. I've read the entire new testament at least 20 times. I was raised in a family that went to church/bible study/praymeetings ect for 11 hours every sunday, church camp twice a year, and VBS once a year. Then I moved out and realized how much bullshit was force fed to me as a child and started to study for myself and guess what, evolution makes sense. The bible has so many contradictions it's not even funny, get over it.

@fidefreestyle Then I'm going to warn you not to make the same mistakes I did. My relationship with my family fell apart because of my lack of faith and I blamed christians as a whole. I lashed out at them, and whenever someone told me they were a christian I immediately judged them. It's completely unfair and hypocritical. Make sure to realize that people are people and there are good and bad people everywhere, including in religion. I just don't want you to repeat my errors.
