We all know how this turned out. Now they're going to build it in the same place anyway, but the neighboring community gets to control its development AND realizes the tax revenues from the project. Not to take away from your victory and all, it was an impressive effort even if it did make Longmont look stupid in the end. It reminds me of something Homer Simpson would do. Thanks for nothing.
Why is this development a bad thing? I for one would like to see some nicer developments in Longmont to boost consumer choice and property values. I'm sure those of you near Hover and the country club are happy, but I live near where the new development would be and we have dismal retail options and plummeting property values. I for one would like to see some invigoration of the area.
No, I do not belong to a church, nor do I have a knee-jerk reaction to things tied to religion or developers.
Longmont's current city counsel has done some damage, in my view. A SuperWalmart, more development OK'd east of 66 & 287, and now this?! For sure, the outgoing mayor and city counsel pushed through their agenda without taking into consideration all of the ramifications regarding this annexation. Karen Benker was the only counsel member to vote against it. Hopefully she'll be our next mayor! Huge kudos to Jen Gartner for organizing this petition. Amazing.

I'm so glad this happened! Way to go, Jen!
Thanks for for letting all of us be part of your actions, and thank you for not backing down, even when the odds were against you!
