Some of the dating methods can be wrong also. He has either proved that intelligent man was here LONG before average history teaches, or he has proven that the dating methods are wrong, i.e. something dates 2 million, but is really only a few thousand years old. Cremo is also a Hindu agent, and the Hindus teach the Kali-yuga cycles of time, Cremo is trying to back up his Hindu belief as much as anything else, there are always alterior motives for anyone who gets "pushed" into the public light.

@darknesseveraftergod That was debunked 30 yrs ago. This show never questions the claims of it's guests. I read Cremo's book way back in '92 and since discovered that it's almost completely full of BS, shoddy research and nonsensical theories. I distrust any authors who claim hidden or undiscovered "truth". New discoveries win Nobel Prizes, they don't wind up in cheeesy books discounted to 50% from poor sales. Also, the authors almost invariably have religious agendas, not scientific ones.

@ritter89, but the whole point of his book is that it is mostly reporting of the findings of others who have discovered anomalous artefacts in deposits that show them to be impossibly old. How could Cremo invent stuff if he is simply reporting the findings of others? The iron spheres that were found in rock formations many millions of years old for example, are you saying he changed the dating or what? How about the ancient fossil footprints next to those of dinosaurs? Explain please.

EducateRebellion - Fair point re agendas, but you cannot doubt that artefacts found inbedded in coal seams hundreds of feet below ground can't be only a couple of thousand years old, so you cannot intelligently doubt that there has been a scientific cover-up. And knowing that our education systems are run by the same institutions that finance the scientific world, to doubt these things would be naive to say the least. He's talking about some of the 'head guys' in those fields, not everyone. He claims many archeologists have found evidence for our having been around longer but they are ridiculed and shunned. There was one woman in particular, I forget her name but Cremo talks about her, who did an interview talking about how she lost a job, etc. just for talking about her discoveries. He's saying that because of that, many are afraid to explore those possibilities... they don't want their careers ruined.

The amount of data supporting the standard model of human evolution (and evolution in general) is so well established it would some damn solid evidence to convince anyone otherwise. Sadly for Cremo and his ideas - they don't quite cut it.

Um... so? Humans have been around for a LOT longer than 20,000 years mate. Try 100,000 for starters. I think you quoted him wrong, for a figure of 20,000 years is nothing unusual.

Sorry, I meant humans as they are today. I maybe wrong on the time frame on those formations but, for example, remains were found in Illinois I believe underneath the bedrock which was formed loooong before humans were thought to have come over the Barren Straits. Coins have been found from a time long before coins were first used as currency.

And Cremo admits he is not an archeologist. But he says he's done tons of research and found reports from archeologists, newspapers, etc.

If you met a human from about 100,000 years ago you wouldn't notice much of a physiological difference.

That aside, if you go by pure weight of evidence the standard model is safe. Be very wary of a man that writes books and does lectures instead of presenting his evidence to the scientific community like any other person would do. Maybe he has? Does his work stand up in peer review?

He should be convincing the relevant experts, not pandering to the untrained public à la Expelled.

The main point about the remains is that they are in places they shouldn't be considering when they were supposedly left. And he talks about million year old remains, based on the geology.

And honestly I don't know if his views are accepted by many experts or if he's just dismissed out right. My knowledge of Cremo isn't extensive enough to say. It definitely goes along with his claims of this info being held back, but then again one could just argue that's the reason he says that.

I'm not an expert, what I believe is irrelevant. When you have evidence which is agreed upon (it satisfies testing) there is no room for belief because the evidence speaks for itself.

I'd be interested in exactly WHAT artifacts these are, and how they were dated. You have to wonder why experts in the relevant fields seem to disagree with him. Is it because they're "keeping the whole ghastly Truth hidden" Or is it simply that his methods and conclusions are erroneous?

It only takes one of these many scientists or archeologists to have found something for it to be true, just one.
