@0:43 the pianist isn't even playing the correct notes. @0:53 the sopranos are grossly out of tune. and right before that: the line "el tiempo se va .." is too accented and annunciated compared to the rest of the line before it. Those are some specific examples but overall not the greatest performance. However, kudos for the choir for giving it their best.
Hmm. Honestly, rather a poor take of the song. Generally, the song requires a mystical feel. Imagine walking through a forest and being amazed at the beauty you see. The choir did the choir too fast, the Spanish required more careful pronunciation and... I think the sound was the biggest defect of this choir. Required more resonance and a more vertical, rounded sound which would have added to the mystery and beauty of this song. It was almost cartoonish.
Wow this wasnt that good. We're doing this song for our winter concert and our choir teacher is making sure its perfect with accents, timing and everything. No racism intended was this choir was very choppy and white washed
@LizzyPuppyLove2 I'm sure your choir did a lovely job, but just saying: WE weren't the ones laughing...it was the audience, and it was really upsetting for us. Believe me WE took this song very seriously.
This song is incredible and this choir didn't do justice for it. The tempo is too fast, the koos sound like a bunch of nonsense, the vowel space is of a five year old. Too choppy. Needs a lot of work.
the alto's were off in there entrance on "el tiempo se va ..." they were too low. and the beginning chord was off too. the vowels should be taller, words with l's in must be soft. the t's shouldn't be announced so prominently. It's like a lullaby. the "se ha" entrances were not accented or together.
it was altogether too choppy. the intonation just might be a thing with the recording, but really the general flow of the song is not good. its too choppy and the vowels are bad.
wow! aznhackur319, thats absolutely amazing! All of those things that they could improve on, and noone will care about your advice because you are not constructive about it in the least. All you did was put them down, therefore your comment really isn't very credible. It's really easy to be a critic huh? All you have to do is log on and bash people for their musical performance. Learn how to communicate your ideas so other people can find the worth in them without your garbage attitude attatched
I'm not sure you understand what constructive critiques mean. I told them what was wrong and how it could be fixed. I didn't bash them with no regard to why they did "bad". I think they did well enough for a highschool choir. They tried hard, but all I'm saying is they could do better. They haven't executed this song as well as it could have been, but they did too well. Sorry. I forgot to add that, so I guess my comments did come a little off as bit harsh. This choir did good, but coudl improve.
this is a great song but not very well exacuted. the tempo is to fast, especially at the 'bailan' part. There are major diction issues, dynamics should be more accross the board, and it was to choppy, probably because of the tempo. im all about directors interpritation, but this did not give the peice justice. great wistlers though, and bravo to the singers for reaching for such high standards : )
This song is beautiful. I am going to be performing it at the Florida Music Symposium in the honor choir. I love Eric Whitacre's peices, his style is so unique.
This song is much fun to sing! Our choir did it last year, and it sounded great when it was finished. The only thing I noticed about this was that the breathing was not staggered well at the beginning when everyone was holding out the chords at the beginning, they all took a breath at the same time. Was this on purpose?
Difficulty should not determine whether or not a song is good unless the difficulty is unneccessary. Whitacre music is is necessarily difficult. The crashing chords of Cloudburst are incredibly moving, but try singing the first page of the tenor part. The sdecond verse of A Boy and a Girl overflows with emotion. But the poor second sopranos have the most difficult part of the piece, singing minor seconds under the firsts up in the stratosphere and trying desperately not to sharp. It's worth it.
my choirs singing this song. i mean the comment i wrote was like ages ago. now i learned how to appreciate this beuatiful song. my friend too. and i hope that my choir would get a silver or a GOLD for this song. its worth it. and do you know "idemdemalida"? i am singing a solo for it.

But we did it better.
The way they did the paper at the end was sloppie and everyone was laughing, which took away from the seriousness
Eag Galli High did better! :D
