Wiki has Derek at 315, which is BS! He is heavier than that at contests. Mariusz is 313, and Derek dwarfs him in size.

Pudzianowski might be past his prime also, on a related note. He is focusing on MMA atm, since he already proved what he wanted to with his 5 wins - although he said he will start at perhaps 5 competitions next year (instead of the normal 20 or what not).

Correct. I was a little shocked to see LBS Stone placing 4th. I thought Pudz used his last special power during the last WSM, but he turned out having some left this year. I am really not to shocked to see big Z win, he is without a doubt the strongest person to ever live, still I thought he would be to slow to compete against the ripped "small" guys.

Didn't they up the weight a bit on the 2009 WSM though? I heard something about them making it heavier. That would explain Z:s edge. Although that would make M:s 2nd place even more impressing, being as "light" as he is.

@pointman127 Zydrunas is not the strongest man to ever live. If we cut all that fat out and brought him to mariusz's weight Mariusz would demolish him. If we brought mariusz up to Z's weight Mariusz would kill him even worse. As much as I love Mariusz neither him or Z have could beat Kaz in his prime. Kaz is the strongman king.

this is neither a powerlifting meet nor a deadlift meet. this is strong man. straps are allowed due to this not being the exercise that tests grip. An example of an exercise that tests grip is the farmer's walk or hercules hold.
