"pretty" does not factor into whether a game is good or not. Avatar was "pretty" and still sucked a dead donkey's balls. Rage is pretty... aaaaand that's about it. You're an ark survivor (or vault dweller) who has unfrozen (emerged) into the wasteland (wasteland). The car combat is okay, but nothing for a Twisted Metal player to write home about. The story is weak, the ending terrible, and the plot played-out by the comapny's own games. 5/10.

Another thing to point out is that a game with tons of features, like this game (over 1000G of uncompressed data...DAMN!) only takes about 3 years and about a employee count of 100 to make anyway, which is what RAGE is, so it's a game that is worthy for a long production time.

People seem to forget the whole post apocalyptic world isn't anything new to video games they were being made before Fallout and Borderlands. This game is graphically impressive and a good showcase game for the Tech 5 engine. I haven't put that much time into the game yet but the beginning is really slow so far but I can't say that is how the whole game is since it is still teaching my how to play.

You can basically make that exact same argument about every game made this decade.

@EvilTehHocks The Gamecube was actually a fairly powerful system (for its time), the graphics for RE4 still look pretty good today, but the fact that it lacked online play caused it to suffer a ton in sales. The Wii is the opposite in that it has (some) online play, but good God is it lacking in power, and the audience that they've chosen to target with the Wii is absolutely frustrating to big time Nintendo fanboys (like me!).

@TehJamsiJK How about the long development time (2002) I'm in a RAGE for this game. But getting it will calm me down. Or.. maybe there are things that happen to you in the story that pisses you off. Or, looking at the gameplay. a lot of characters and enemies look furious. this game already earned it's title then.

Does anyone know some finer details like, is it a linear storyline style game where you have to do specific levels, or is it like an exspansive world as seen in the elder scrolls? If it is exspansive are there loading screens for different sections or does it all flow as one map? and finally are there elemnts of RPG in there like leveling up aquiring new weapons and armor ect ect?

Borderlands is a tongue in cheek futuristic old western set on an alien planet (Pandora); Fallout 3 is retro futuristic.
Rage isn't retro futuristic or tongue in cheek. So, while it looks like those games the feel will be completely different.

Even reading the synopsis: "...groundbreaking first-person shooter set in the not-too-distant future after an asteroid impacts Earth, leaving a ravaged world behind. You emerge into this vast wasteland to discover humanity working to rebuild itself against such forces as bandit gangs, mutants, and the Authority..."
Umm...asteroid instead of nuke. Fallout 3.

@Wedwickboy actually its more than the vehicles that reminds people of borderlands its probably the open desert landscape which made up most of the maps for borderlands and the fact that its you versus everyone else only with the exception of small towns with friendly people in it giving you missions and what not but then again none of that is in rage isn't it?
