@waeil123, I don't believe that he was telling us to become our own god. I think he is trying to help people become focused and useful citizens. Imagine, if everyone had a goal and achieved that goal, how happy they would be. And that shared happiness would reflect in our society. Kids would have a goal, so there would be less hanging out and getting into trouble. You get the jist. Whatever his motives were, I take it for its worth to me.

@iamaphuney hey cool it will ya , this man is simply saying to you there is no god, you are" the god" because you can be whatever you want if you focus on it..... so basically he is trying to make you cover the existence of god., so you have two choices either you believe him and pretend to be a god or you can ignore him and keep on praying to god to help you achieve your goals.

@waeil123 I don't think the two are mutually exclusive. There's nothing wrong with working toward a goal and relying upon yourself and also praying to God to help you acheive your goals. The Bible never says to rely solely upon God, in fact, Christianity teaches that God helps those who help themselves. Earl Nightingale's words are equally valid whether you are Christian or non-Christian, he effectively takes God out of the equation and you are free to add him or not.

@waeil123 You miss the point. It may surprise you to learn that many people live quite fulfilling lives without believing in any form of supreme being. What happens to them in the afterlife is not germane to the discussion. It is typical of the evangelical Christian to assign values to others based on a perception that may prove incorrect. For example, I am a Christian but my personal beliefs are not relevant to those particular observations concerning Mr. Nightingale's opinions.
