  • Its really hard for me to

Sleep. Im nearly 15 and ive been doing it since i was 1

Month old. I have asamnia and rmd. My sleeps are so crappy someone please help.

  • It is a great relief to know am not crazy, always embarrassed about it. All I could say is that if feels awesome and it rocks you to sleep, very hard to just lay still. I have done it since I could remember, I was 18 when I got married and I knew I needed to stop. So I just laid on my back, bent my left knee to were it was folded and i would rock it back and forth slowly instead, am 47 now and sometimes find myself doing it in my sleep, am divorced now so I can do it.. Yey!!!!

  • I had the same disorder till I was 17. What stopped me was sleeping with my first girlfriend. Anyway, I'm 47 now and they didn't have answers for it till 1995. Apparently it's rare but normal. About 5% of us do it. It has to do with winding down after a full day of activity. If were not real tired we become bored trying to just lie and sleep. I also found out that those of us with this behavior tend to me more intelligent than our peers

  • Im 29 and i still do it....i started drinking every night because when im drunk i dont do it....now im a alcoholic...and i still do it...its torture for me sometimes....lately i have been doing better though....the best thing is to wear your self out during the day...that way your really tired at night and you pass out....get on a good sleep schedule.....weed helps to but that illegal....

  • i am 35 years old and know my back is messed up over it and i cant stop... what can i do

  • I do the same thing, but i don't feel bad in any moment ._.

    is bad? e.e

  • I do the exact same thing. It's crazy the number of people who have the same disorder.

  • I have this ever since i was a kid. Im 15 and i still do it. I do it after i had a bad day when im about to go to sleep or when i listen to music i dont do it around people. My parents tihnk i will outgrow it and they make in fun of me when i do it.. One thing that i did find that helped was running. Running helps me and hopefully will help you. And not just a little sprint about a mile or 2 helps. TRY IT

  • I do the same exact movements. Thank God I have a Lady Friend who understands it. This rocking motion is so relaxing and soothing. I figured out that when I am going to sleep, I rock to get mind and body tired, then moments after my fulfillment of rocking, lights out.

  • TEACH ME HOW TO DOUGIE!

  • @space2280 ha

  • CONTINUED FROM PRIOR POST: Now he just watches TV and Movies and sometimes plays video games. I think he is sleep/REM deprived. I wonder why he rocks. And how to help him get better sleep without medicine. Chiropractic care may be a solution. For all your circuits to be up and running right. Thanx for posting this. Now i know the term. peace.

  • My husband has been rocking for sometime. I do not even know when it began. He also says during his rocking he feels he is half asleep and half awake. This inhibits him for getting a good nights rest. Lack of REM. He is tired all the time. He has pretty much just gotten use to that. He is cracky and mean in the morning. He feels depressed a lot of the time. And lacks any ambition or goal seeking. In high school he skied, golfed, snow boarded, played frisbee golf and roller bladed.

  • I did this all my childhood. But social pressure like at camp or when I shared a bed would make me consciously avoid doing it. But once that dozy feeling takes over, I wouldn't know if I were or not. Once in a while I awake while doing it.

  • Omg this is like watching myself. Its almost funny to watch because i didn't know what it looked like. I've been doing it since i was a baby. Broke a few cribs! Lol It makes me comfy trying to fall asleep, ya know? And most times i don't even know. Still sleepin away...

  • he is doing it wrong, wheres the pillow under his head!

  • I have this disorder.

When I was young, 4-9, I would bang my head agenst my arm under my pillow so i wouldn't cause serious damnage to my brain.

I also have been rocking the way this kid is for, well my hole life.

Since I was born I wondered why no one else did it, I thought I was a freak, hah guess I was Right. I broke my habbit, or disorder of banging my head.. So i wonder if I can break my habbit, or disorder of rocking!

If i can then so can anyone else. PURE WILL POWER!

  • @alexfleming10 yeah i did the head banging as a child and teens i think, but forced myself to stop it as i was terrified of being 30 and still doing this when i'm married.

  • I've been rocking like this for over 35 years.Parents and brothers have described me doing exactly what you're doing in this video.I have woke up while doing it,so I know it's true.

I hate to refer to it as a "disorder".It has never caused me any harm.In my opinion,it's sort of a subconscience way of dealing with stress.I'm often waking from a dream when I feel myself doing this.I think the rocking somehow gives me some comfort in being a distraction.

  • i had a feeling there were ppl out there that had this same problem .. it's a good thing i post this video .. i'm getting all the feed backk i was looking for ..SO HOW DO WE CURE THIS THING PPLS? any ideas.. suggestions?? well i never do this after me and my gf have sex..:D one suggestion.. have sex every night

  • @scalashe apparently their are girls that do this too :D although would cost alot in buying new beds each week heh , but yes a CURE is there one? i dont think there is without causing further damage , plus dont have to worry about spiders creeping down our noses at night , will confuse burglars and with abit of viagra can please your mrs's all night in your sleep ;) why fix it

  • @alexg3001 i'm girl,use to head bang(not the rock and roll type,lol)

  • @scalashe I been doing this since I was 3, and eventually stopped at 18 after a pain in my neck, wish I could still do it though. My strategy was to work till I dropped, and wake up early in the morning, before I got the urge to do it again, I never slept in. Also keep mp3 players away, they will be a desire as listing to music whilst doing it is probably better than sex. I still do it when I am really stressed, but rarely happens. Once you stop you just dizzy when doing it.

  • @scalashe My husband has the same issue. We are unsure how to treat. He feel it effects his R.E.M. I think so to. Due to the tiredness he has all day. He has been rocking for over 15 years. Being unmotivated and grouchy in the mornings. Poor guy. I hope some one can find a natural home remedy solution. peace

  • @gg010170 I have been researching. but to no avail. Lots of luck. If you find any information. please share!! I will do the same. take care ; )

  • @gg010170 Well, if sex does the trick. Maybe some exercise or yoga before sleep. I know it can be hard to form the habit. Yet, just a suggestion. I know husband will want to decide that for himself. peace

  • I have this too, but the problem is im doing this when im awake...well mostly awake...and i know im doing it! And im 16! Id like for someone to tell me more about this, because i thought of myself as the only one for 16 years untill today!

  • i have this from birth.no one could help.say put rug under crib.sister would choke me.she can,t sleep.tramatized, imbarased, sleep on floor in hall.i never talk of it.

  • @squ666666 yes on holiday with my sister was in a caravan and my rocking was so bad the tv rolled off the stand and smashed on the floor, my sister broke the door down woke me up and made me sleep outside for the rest of the week as i was causing eathquakes :( was always having furniture thrown at me as well and told to shut up , should never be embarraist though , should be proud!! aint your fault you evolved quicker then them

  • I would rock, i'd have my eyes open and i would be talking out loud (no idea why/what). I would go to sleep wearing a shirt and underwear, but I've awakened wearing other clothes, someone else's clothes; ive awakened miles away from my house, feet bloody and not knowing what the bloody hell just happened. Nowadays I wake up lying down in the bathtub, i wake up downstairs standing up or sitting in a chair. While i'm used to it now, it still unnerves me at times. Hope yours get better!(^_^)

  • @onikuma25 wow... some cases are more extrem than others! hope things get better for you!

  • Oh and question: are you people slim? I've been very skinny my whole life - can eat anything I want (I'm a girl) and sometimes I wonder if it has anything to do with RMD.

  • Hmm nice to see I'm not the only one who ROCKS!... :) I do it on my hands and knees though, to get to sleep but also while I'm sleeping or in the morning when I don't feel like waking up... When I was a kid (I'm 26 now) I used to sing while body-rocking. When I sleep somewhere else I can control it, but once I get to know the person well... I freak 'em out haha. Sometimes I don't feel rested because of it and my hair get's really messed up...

  • @likkleGreen yes my hair would always be sticking up in knots , i use to sing and hum too although could never restrain myself, if i did would end up thumping my head with my fist which scares everyone although to me in half sleep its the most comfortable feeling ever heh if i sleep on my front the bed has had it, ill kick it to bits , im 6,4 size 13 and slept on my front wearing toe cap boots once , woke up in a pile of wood , holes in the walls dont know what happened :S but never again

  • Wow Theres others. serously i never slept in my friend houses becuase i was embarresed byt Fuck em

  • I've also used this fucked up dissorder to my own advantage by training my self with it to build up a nice six pack and chizzled pecks which all you have to do if you have this is head bang on a larger harder pillow

  • Exactly half sleep is the stage that it causes the urge to roll so what I do is work out before u go to bed each night or if I happen to sleep with a dame I screw her like a stallion so I'm tired as shit. This helps me pass into the rem cycle ( deep sleep ) part faster where the urge to self comfort to sleep mo longer exists

  • for those feeling alittle down , women love good dancers so they should love those that dance in there sleep too :P

  • making sound effects with it neee ,naaa ,neee, naaa gets me off quicker :P kicking my legs is another one although the amount of time ive fractured or broken my toes doing that heh but yeah when it comes to friends relationships ,i use vodka nobody sees my bashing my head up the wall fetish but me heh

  • wonder if you have found a way to stop rocking?..... i am my self putting a pillow against the wall for me not to hit my head reapply toward the wall every night

  • i get dizzy and hypersentative when i try to sleep normally dont know how they do it .. i secretly get pleasure from hitting the wall to though cant really go in work with bruises all over my face :S

  • Iam 20 and headbang quite alot in my sleep, done it since i was a baby apparently and it just never stopped, can wake up with some pretty violent headaches from it though.

  • i do this. im 25, and the neurolgist said it was strnage that im awar im doing it.. in the half sleep half awake state.

  • writing this is the guy that's actually in the video , saying thanks for the commments. ,blah blah blah . my brother video taped me doing this, wasnt even aware, even tho i know he was there, that's how it feels to rock , somewhat half awake half sleep, posted it for education purposes ,

    to WMAISM

yes the covers always come off when i wake, that's why i used two ! um restless,? yes i always feel like i never get enough sleep, and back pain ? well i think it's my bed cause i only rock to sleep

  • Man i felt like i was the only one.

My friends parents at sleep overs and stuff when i was little thought i was having sesures. haha

How'd you figure out it was RMD?

Your right, when your rocking your never fully asleep, and can be easily waken and know whats going on. your not actually sleeping thats the bad part.

have you ever strapped yourself down or firgures out a way to stop it...... i need some sleep!!!!!

    Thnk for da reply.

  • @scalashe I have the same sleep disorder .. I am now 47 and have never been able to stop..As soon as i turn onto my back during sleep i begin to head rock , mostly it wakes me up ... I dont rock while on my side at all tho .. I will even head rock when sitting in a comfy arm chair and the most embarrasing time was when i was in labour with my youngest and i began to head rock , a form of comfort i guess , and the midwife asked my husband if i was mentally retarded !

  • U ever wake with lower back pain?

U ever wake up tired and unrested?

Do you ever rip the covers off from the shaking?

    REply

  • mine occurs in half sleep its basicly a urge to rock else will never get to sleep also its very comfortable hard surfaces feels like warm water, do wake up with stiff joints need plenty of fish oil, in deep sleep it stops then will rock when waking up or disturbed , it sometimes can disturb sleep depending how violent it is but the plus side is that its a workout so can eat what ever you like downside is that i often have difficulty telling right from left i aslo write backwards when tired heh

  • I do the same thing as the man in the video, only I do it to GET to sleep, not while I'm asleep. It's not something that I wish to stop as it makes me feel drowsy and it's very soothing and comforting. i'm single, so it doesn't interfere in a relationship and, irl, the only others who know about it are my mom and therapist, who told me that as long as it didn't interfere with my life, I should just keep rocking myself to sleep and feel no shame at all. It's nice to know I'm not the only one.

  • i used to do it without a pillow also but then my mom forced me to use a pillow cuz she thought i was gunna brake ma neck ahaa but now im used to it with a pillow but can still sleep without...just thought i should share that lol

  • urgh im 15 nd still do this i thought i was the only one until the other day i started doing research on it...ii hate doing it b/c no one noes of my disorder and they just lik laugh at me and call me retareed nd i hate having sleep overs b/c of it so i never this shit

  • I do this shit....i hate it...i wish i can just sit still, im like fuckin addicted to rocking.....i think once a person does it after child hood, you will always do it

  • lol, no most of the time kids get over it.. Yeah im addicted to lol.. when im Bored, stressed, Alone, Cant sleep, upset and or in my sleep. to music is good :) .. HATES PEOPLE WALKING IN ON ME ! its embarrassing. but ur not the only one :)

  • Join this group Jacatatio Capitis Nocturna or something to that effect. You'd be surprised at how many of 'us adults' still have this disorder. I should know. I'm one of 'em and I do what you do when I lay on my right side. I've been doing this since my crib days.

  • im 18 and still do it.. but, more bang my head into my pillow. my brother 21, also does do it. it's comforting and relaxing.. helps to sleep. :)

  • i Have that 2, im 15 tho.. it does help to relx :)

  • yup,,, around 8% of kids will develop something like this... an unluckier 3% of those will carry on with it throughout their lives... like others have mentioned before, it's actually very relaxing

ps: never let this guy know you taped it and posted it... if they're embarrassed about it, they could get a little violent with you... with the whole invasion of personal privacy thing.... kinda touchy area.

  • wow am i going to be doing this shit at age 33 ?? i hope not honestly

  • @scalashe I broke my head banging disorder with pure will power, man, you and me can break this shit. it will hurt, make u feel horable for a while, but i belive its worth it.

  • good on ya mate for putting this up..i do it a little differently but its the same motion..and i normal have music playin..cheers .thirty three male..australia ::)
