Couple of points....first, good on you for using a brush (though I have to point out that that's boar hair and not beaver). It's easily the best way to prepare a beard for shaving and apply cream. Second, you should look into buying a shaving soap or cream that lathers rather than gel or foam. The lubrication and especially the glide of the razor is far superior.
