Have you tried a Negitive release aid. I use one that you have to push the trigger in to activate the trigger and then you just relax your thumb to release the shot.
It may be of interest to you to look up something similar that occurs to golfers, is call the Yipes, anticipating the shot and blowing it basically. Also in the same note, it may interest you to read about exercises to re-pattern the brain by creating new improved motor patters that do not include the old glitch (anticipating the shot). hey ike, im 15 and im sure you know alot more then me but im real serious about archery and i think i can help your problem. ive dealt w/ the same problem for a few years, and am still over coming it. i shoot my trigger release like a back tension. you do this by wrapping your finger on the trigger and simply pulling through the shot like you would with a back tension. when your squeezing w/ ur finger your way more likely to punch it. hope this helps. and good luck hunting!
I havent Shot a Bow in 5 years man I cant belive how much we forget about Form...Thankyou for your video i will try these practice techs. I killed like 4 arrows today up against the side of the barn jerking that trigger.....Im just glad to be shooting againand appreciate your help. I bought an OLD Predetor Golden Eagle at a pawn store for like 80 bucks, Would love to make this good deal stretch, any advice on accessorizeing an old compound for better performence?Whats a good hunting arrowrest?
With most releases the trigger will be light. If you get into the nicer more expensive releases you will have some sensitivity adjustment. I am shooting a Carter Quickie 1 now and I have it set at a 4lb yes that is not a typo 4 lb trigger pull
@ikesoutdoors Thanks, I bought a new one anyways because my dad and i were sharing the same release and his hand is much bigger than mine, so now i have one that fits my hand, as for the weight of the release I've just gotten used to it over the last few days and have used your technique and exercises to improve my accuracy and consistency tremendously. I shoot rifles regularly, and squeezing a trigger just seems natural. Try using the tip of your finger on the trigger, and maybe try shooting firearms. It should help you out.
A wrist strap caliper release is hard to beat. They are great for hunting and 3D. I am using a TRU Ball Sniper 2 Scout. I like it because you can adjust the length and trigger tension and it comes with 2 triggers one is a standard trigger and the other is a spring that help soften the impact of punching the trigger so it is great for me.

I'm just starting and this helped a lot. I just bought a trigger at Walmart and the trigger is ridiculously light is that correct?
