  • Join the glorious piramide!

  • Nice glimpse, thank you. I have mixed feelings about the film as I'm sure all fans do, but there's a lot to appreciate about it, and I am recommending it to people, if only to get them to appreciate the men who made the music.

  • The play was not written by Nick Moran.

The play was written by James Hicks.

The play has since been adapted for film by Moran & Hicks.

It owes no credits to the book by John Repsch unless his fans are claiming that factual events in the film , based on Meek`s real life are now the copyright of Repsch !

The film got made because of the success of the play , not the book.

  • The play was written by Nick Moran & James Hicks.

According to Moran' the inspiration for the play came to himself & Hicks after seeing the plaque at Holloway Rd. This plaque was placed as a result of pressure from "The Joe Meek Appreciation Society" then led by Repsch. Repsch's book raised Meek's profile and hence interest in Meek.

I agree that factual events can't be made copyright, but, without JMAS & Repsch's book, there wouldn't have been a play or film.

  • Also, it's worth mentioning that it took took John Repsch an age to write that book, no one was interested in this stuff, and hardly anyone had written about it before. If Repsch hadn't written the book and the "Arena" hadn't been made, no bugger in modern media would have heard of him.

  • hear hear!! totally agree,John Repsch deserves some credit for the film,he did all the original fact finding & interviews that took years of research yet gets no credit for getting the ball rolling ,no book= no arena doc.=no play=no film.simple as that! Joe Meek would have remained an unsung hero of early british pop music & a forgotten recording genius.I loved the film but would have been happier if john had got some credit for all his initial hard work.

  • Great video have you ever met John Repsch ?

I feel he's been cheated on the credit front regarding this film.

  • I agree - I've read the book called Telstar, and seen the play and the film - large chunks of John's book has been been used in both in my opinion

  • Hi Christopher

I have known John for some years. That's him with my wife Beverly, at the end

    of this video.

    Cheers

    John
