  • loved listening to this album. it's right up there with "Prostitute" and everything else Toyah has done in her remarkable career.

  • To me this album is, together with 'The Lady or the Tiger', her most chillout album. Adding to other posts about her more commercial works i must admit they're not that bad at all. In that line 'Moonmigration' is my absolute fave track. Yet the Toyah i really loved is the period from 'Sheep....' till 'Warrior Rock'. To be haunted by 'She', drifted away with 'Castaways' to 'Jungles of Jupiter' i hear the witch singing 'See my only lifeform rolling on the floor' in Victims of the Riddle..brilliant

  • Trey Gunn is a relative of mine. I'm very proud of what he's made of himself.

  • When I bought this CD I "foolishly" expected amazing New Wave or pop/rock. Instead it was CRAP. Thankfully, I've manged to return the CD and get my $25 back.

  • @Homoholic yeah...its a pity toyah couldnt keep the momentum going after the changeling album for whatever reason but music was changing so rapidly in the 80s and i think[think-being the operative word] toyah didnt want to be in the lime light anymore and made music that she liked;i havent heard the rest of the album but this isnt that bad-its a grower.

  • @fergusil

all the tracks on this CD sound the same. I find this music very boring and uninspired but I realize it may appeal to some. I think it was her husband's influence that had something to do with Toyah's dramatic change of style.

There are a couple of tracks from Toyah's 'Eternity (Madhatter)' bootleg on YT right now which are FAR more interesting than this. Check out 'You' and/or Eternity'

  • @Homoholic after 1982-83,i lost interest in toyah-that said i absolutely love dont fall in love again and echo beach.if you dont like this then whatever you do dont buy the desire album! with the exception of echo beach and moonlight dancing, its horrific! i was in complete disbelief that toyah would come up with such shit! i think it was very hard for her to resurrect her career after 1983 because even at that point she was so well placed in the postpunk era of the early 80s .2bcontinued...

  • @fergusil

I was a diehard fan of Toyah in the 80s and I think that 'Don't Fall In Love' and the B-side 'Snow Covers The Kiss' are some of her best songs. However, I hate 'Soul Passing Through Soul'. Even Bucks Fizz had better songs than that! The follow-up single 'World In Action' was a lot better.

As for 'Desire', I do like it except for a couple of tracks. I don't think it's shit at all...

  • @Homoholic oh ur joking! if you want to torture someone, lock them in a room with that album playing-honestly-i think its that bad[again with exception of echo beach];and soul passing through soul..?..hee hee yeah i agree but toyahs performance in the vid is truly amazing.

  • @fergusil

I'm sorry you don't like 'Desire'. I think it's very listenable, actually. For the most part, anyway. Unlike 'Ophelia's Shadow'...

I also like the video for 'Soul Passing Through Soul'. Toyah looked great. I wish they had remixed the song to make it sound like 'Thunder In The Mountains'

By the way, I believe you like 'Love Is A Stranger'. Have a listen to 'Living Inside Me' from DATA. It is similar and I hope you'll like it.

  • @Homoholic tanx a mill 4 tip.i never hear that song before and from 1983,i cant believe it passed me by. very catchy, why wasnt it a hit?the lead singer looks almost identical to hazel o conner.any more gems from the 80s i should know of?..and heres me with my 200 odd cd collection containing every 80s song that is ....or so i thought....

  • @Homoholic continued..and by 1984-85,all of this high energy and american rock had invaded the charts and how does a punk singer so well placed in the early 80s slot into that era? she came under fire from alot of her diehard fans in 1985 for dont fall in love single but taking all of that into consideration and that it was 1985 i dont think she had a choice but to do that and you look at the promo vids to dont fall in love and soul passing through soul and i think toyah did an amazing job.
