Jesus. This video really helps, but as a foreign english speaker it's really hard to understand new words that would help to score in the next biology test.
Great video! Really informative. I hate to point out the obvious, but everyone does notice this is from the PORTUGESE SOCIETY for NEUROSCIENCE, right? So, to me, the accent is not a big deal, she is clear enough and you get used to it quickly.
@cherrylishousness wow, thats really rude. How quickly does the maker of this video owe you something after posting a free video. Its from the PORTUGESE SOCIETY for NEUROSCIENCE jackass.
@sithvaultboy oh hey, before you get all judgmental & your granny panties up the large gapping hole in your ass. . . or head. . . why not shoot yourself in the face. :D
i was under the impression that the voice was computerized& couldnt really understand its english. so how about taking a FUCKING OXYCODINE & calm down when u dont even know of ones' intentions. anyway, what does it matter to you? but u know what YOU GO FIGHT THAT FUTILE BATTLE THAT WILL TRAP YOU IN ITS PARADOXICAL PROPERTIES
Fantastic! Sums up in less than 10 minutes what takes hours and hours to get clear on one's head from books! Thank goodness for You Tube educational vids like this! Thanks Biomedical Movies.
Hahah. Yeah, I mean I'm a girl and I thought it was cute. Re-listening to a few parts here and there only helped to memorize details. BRAZILIAN NEUROSCIENCE ROCKS
Well, she does have a cute Portuguese accent but this is a scientific video with a lot of technical words that are not easy to comprehend and you gotta admit she's very difficult to understand in some bits! If they were going to make the video in English, they should have employed someone without a thick accent.. Ou não há muito falantes de ingles em Portugal? Pft.
the accent is NOT horrible. It's actually quite cute...problem is, there are some parts where, because of the accent, understanding the exact terms is difficult - the cone photoreceptor parts, in particular. But then, you can always look them up in a textbook or on wikipedia. you're not supposed to learn about the eyes using this video alone anyway. As such, it's great animation and the ideas are very well represented visually. It's the best I've seen so far actually
Ouch - the accent is in the wrong location of the narrator's words and syllables. She needs to fix this or learn how to intonate properly so that audiences can focus on what she is saying rather than wishing to overcome the mistakes produced by the overwhelming "funny-twists" in the nature of her thick accent. :(
Well, how well do you speak Portuguese? I think the vidio was made for you to focuss on the actual images not on the speaker's accent. In fact, the videao is so good, you need no speaker to clarify it, or .......do you?
all english-speaking countries keep making fun of people's accent when its not their first language. will u speak portugese like her of course no u will just be happy u can even speak it. so stop whinning and get the benefit of the video u can watch it more than one time if u don't get it
I have an accent myself because I came in the US two years ago, so I have a hard time understanding her. Bur playing this video a few times helps. This is an easier and faster way of learning what 2 pages of my book tries to explain.
thank you this was very helpful for my study - to those people complaining about her accent, it's actually very articulate - if you still can't manage what do you expect her to do, change it?
OMG THANK YOU SO SO MUCH!!!! I SPENT HOURS TRYING TO UNDERTAND THIS

interesting....
I always thought electrical impulses originate from potassium and sodium ion gradients.... This video clarified the misconception,,,,,
So, do different nerve cells use different ions for achieving gradients across cell membranes ??
I mean, potassium-sodium -> brain cells, calcium-sodium -> retinal cells ?
