  • Stand your ass up!! lol great stuff tho man....and yea what set up are you using?

  • wich mouthpiece did u use?

  • Awesome improv!

  • Great Job man!

My name is Rafael, I'm from Portugal, and i play sax for 9 years

can you send to my e-mail the backtrack music tath you are improvise above??

You have a amazing sound and technic!

  • Dude, I heard that cowbell. And I was like "YES"

  • bundaba....

    sr jss

  • Hey dude , that was awesome. What kind of background music do u use in generally for improvistaion? Like this u used here ? How do you call it?

I play the Alto Sax for 7 Years now and yeah would like to start making Sax Impros like you did!

thanks 4 your Help and Greetings from Germany!

  • Hi, yeah well all sorts of here are some titels you might wanna give a try: alfred mastertracks blues improvise with today top artists, you have some other titels as well from this guy. latin and jazz and all

ehmm what else, hmm cant find books so fast.. anyway.. look for books with songs like mercy mercy mercy and nows the time... mostly that are the books with a lot of interesting songs to improvise on... I play mostly jazz, but also some latin and jazz and books like I used for this song

  • @DonJohn92 Gostei muito desse improviso. Parabéns = Congratulations

  • good

  • good

  • wow u are great

  • idk if its the recording quality but it sounds like you have a bad habit of playing with fast vibrato

  • That's pretty rocking. I've been play alto sax for about four years and I've only just begun cracking out some improv. If you haven't already, try and get ahold of a bari. Sooo much fun.

  • Scales are indeed very important. Just try some regular songs in easy tunes, like A or G or C.. Learn the blues scales by hard. Just try and listen carefully to the music. Something which might help as well, is learning some tricks and licks which can make your improv sound more interesting. Good luck!

  • How can you learn to play like this??

how do you start to learn those scales??

I play the saxophone for almost 6 years, but how can you learn to improvise??

buy a improvisise book or something??

    please help me :(

  • do you play over any more complex changes?

  • what do you mean by complex changes?

  • how do you do that and how can you learn to play like this??

how do you start to learn those scales??

  • Ok wat u need to do is ask a band director and or someone who knows them and they will teach you

    to improv:

find wat scale you are supposed to use, then play the notes of the scale at any rate/order that u want just make sure that the notes are in the scale

Idk, i just started jazz band myself so my advice mite not b so good

  • evryone who plays the sax can see that he is playing; when he plays the high f you can see it is him

  • Were did u learn your sax improvisation man, it is cool. I don't understand how to do it on sax...got the book's. But my sax improvisation sound crap.

  • I have had lessons since I was 7, besides, I''m musicaly talented. Talented or not, also you can learn it! Just practice a lot, play written music to improve your technic, learn riffs, practice riffs etc. learn every scale by heart and improvise a lot

If you take your time for this( and I'm talking about years) you will be able to improvise like this. By the way: I can remember that I made several recordings of this song, but none was good. it is sometimes also a little bit of luck good luck

  • wow.. im impressed

    how old are you 20, 30, 40???

    im 13 =D

    i need a life *sigh*

  • Yer u are right man..the scales...Hope i hope one day to busk in Rotterdam center and get some euroes for the jazz fees in the summer.

    tot zen

  • be sure to keep a good steady air speed and and tongue the notes using one taste bud- thats how i was instructed and it helps very much!

  • thanx xD

  • How long are you playing jazz now because i just started and i want to know when i'm going to sound like that

  • I have been playing sax for 9 years now...

  • Are you playing jazz 9 years or sax ?, because i've had classical sax lessons for 6 years and now i started with jazz.

  • I have had lessons for 9 years, I started with jazz couple years ago, guess about 5 or so.

  • Nice Job!!!! Very Well Done!

  • thank you

  • I love it, very good and I realy like you're style... I just want to know something: how much does a sax cost for a beginner cuz I want to learn it? peace!

  • well it depends. If you buy one second-hand it is not so expensive. I think you can buy one for about 300-500 euro.

  • thanks :))

  • a really good one costs about 3000-5000 euro

  • yes, I know, but I wasnt tolking about a really good one... ;)

  • Very nice. I play saxophon, too. and ich will improvisieren too but i won't have good ideas...

  • Congratulations, I want to dance when I hear your music.

  • Cool, stuff. You've got a pretty good sound. What are you playing along with?

  • thanks, what am I playing along with. I'm srry is that like: what types of music, or with whome. Sometimes it is a little hard for me to understand certain sentences. :) can you explain :)

  • I was asking where the track that you're playing along with came from- who it is or from where you got it. Ich kann auch Deutsch ob das besser ist?

  • hey man great playing

can you give me any tips to get better at my improv?

  • Yes I can and I will haha. ANyway. The thing that will help you a lot are the scales. c, cis, d, dis etc... If you can play all those scales and in certain riffs or in the form c-e-g-c and d-f-a-d etc. and that for every single scale, it will help you alot. When you improvise, just play in the right scale and just try. It doesnt matter what you do. just try. a lot of exercise. trial and error. blablabl ;) you know what I mean! good luck

  • haha thanks i appreciate it.

  • Brilliant :)

  • love it!

    this is amazing :)

  • how do you that so good? how long are you playing?

  • I loved it. I'm getting a saxophone soon and I hope to get as good as that!

  • badass, got any tips for a beginner?

  • if you want to improvise: learn every scale

    by heart.

Play a lot of boring, but very educational music which helps you improve your technique

  • this sounded great. i hate haters

  • thanks :)

  • you have giant veins(viens maybe)

where do you get your ideas.

i play the sax too, and sometimes i have trouble thinking up ideas

  • well most of the time I don't have ideas. I just start playing and sometimes it turns out to sound like crap and other times it is beautifull. Just listen to lots of other music and you will automatically get ideas!

    good luck

  • wut scale are u doing that off of i love it amazing! 5 stars *****!!!!!!

  • no problem keep it up

  • aiight man, ima saxophonist, study at a pro jazz school in paris, n i suggest one thing, drop the vibrato. nowadayz aint the 40s, n playin wid a sound like that will get ppl laffin at u..but nice phrases tho keep practicin

  • thanks for your comment I will pay attention to it!

  • woah, did you just say drop the vibrato? Are you fucking crazy?! The saxophone is supposed to have vibrato, especially in jazz. How many years have you played saxophone? And obviously paris doesnt know anything about jazz, which makes sense, since it was created in america.

  • Well if you wanna sound like coleman hawkins sure go ahead but listen to modern jazz people shit even to charlie parker he dont use half az much vibrato az this dude does. I didnt mean drop it, i meant dont use az much. And obiously stupid ass idiotas like u make ur country look bad

  • I cant tell that you didnt mean drop it.. if you said drop it. Im not a fucking psychic.

And the only reason i said paris didnt know anything about jazz is because i assumed it taught you not to use vibrato. You sure made it sound like it taught you that.

  • ummm no my ears did...and i never said i dont use vibrato, i use it but sparingly....

    fool

  • ellatinorayo, drop the vibrato my 'A', also did you learn to spell over there as well?

  • I agree, you have lots of vibrato and it's alright in soft jazz or classical but in modern jazz like this and most of nowadays music you need to calm down on the vibrato and stop attacking every note with it.

  • I don't do it on purpose. My teacher figgered that I have to change reets every day. This prevence that the sound isn't flat, but vibrates

  • this isn't really you playing...nice try though...

  • did you like the music, cus if you don't believe me that is the only thing I can ask from you: did you like it

  • Very good man! =]

  • Nice stuff. Do you use any specific key signature here or just free?

  • key signature?

  • u suk i cud do bettr

  • if your sax playing is anything like your spelling then i believe that everyone on earth would die from imploded eardrums

  • always like these kind of responses. It give me such a good feeling that I'm not such an asshole as some people on earth are....

  • glad i could help

  • Nice playing man..I look forward to more stuff from you.

I know it was you playing-just a slow computer--maybe you need more memory in there.

If I were, I'd be really excited because melikeybleach complemented you a great deal without realizing it!

  • Really! that would be great. I'm defintitely going to invest more time in playing with all this positive feedback!

  • I'm definately looking forward to more posts from U man:)

  • Really nice solo, but try and alter your posture a bit - you look a bit cramped! NIce improv. keep practising, someday the right person will hear you and you will be made!

  • my teacher told me exactly the same thing about my fingers and stuff. lol! Thanks for your positive feedback!

  • wow, very very good

  • i might believe if ya make a new vid with no background music and send it to me

  • rolls eyes**...ppl just begging for attention put their fake crap on here. why even waste your time....learn it then play and youll be much happier with yourself as a person.

  • ON comment like this and I have you blocked!

it is not fake, the camera and the sound just don't run parralel. I think your just jalous!

  • you didn't even play it. clearly pretending to finger the notes played on computer. can't believe no one caught it.

  • but did you like it? whether I did play it or not! Because if you don't believe me it is your problem

  • Yes, i thought the song that was playing on the computer was not bad.

  • that's great, thanks!

  • a lil flat

  • work on you articulation makes you alil flat

other than cant complain for a begainer

  • dont lift your fingers too high otherwhise good work!

  • how old are you i only wonder ah well however you really good!

  • Well it is none of your bussines, but... I'm a teenager!

  • my god ur good well done !!

    ur intination is awesome

to improve do some growling ; gives it a bit more umpfh

  • k, thanks for your advise I will pay attention to it

  • I know my teacher told me too, I'm working on it!

  • i wish my friend could play like this he sounds like a dieing cat

  • hahaha sweet...

  • man your tallented. With piano, lego and now this.

  • thanks, sometimes I don't even realise this!!

  • the thng thats got blood in that comes from ur heart

  • wrong, that's the artery. The veins bring back the blood from the organs to the heart, where it is pumped to the lungs and then through the arteries back to the heart and to the organs, full of healthy oxygen ;)

Yay for biology classes, matey ;)

  • hard work look at his veins

    nice job very gd

  • would you mind if I asked what in the name of god veins are! :)

  • i agree you are good and that queer named "JazzSax99" sucks! keep up the good work bro!

  • u suck

  • Not bad at all, but be aware of the higher notes; they seem to want to give out every now and then. Use more air to fix that, but dont play louder, just use more air and make the air faster. Good luck

  • thanks...!

  • you lip way to many god damn notes that is the only reason you suck

  • ur ok...

  • ??????

  • I take it you're into smooth jazz? Your tone, style, and fingering sort of screams it.

  • ya this is funny cuz i like building those knex guns and my dad is a band director. nice job

  • forgot to say, I use reeds from vandoren (2 and 2,5)

  • I use a yamaha sax with a selmer mouth and hals piece

  • I think it sounds fine but what saxophone do you own and what mouthpiece and reeds do you use

  • I'm sorry because I stopped recording a little to early!!!
