I will be very impressed if someone can give me an explanation of this song and accompanying video that not only makes sense according to the song and video but also has a particular importance. Two friends split apart, one going the path of love and peace (indicated by the dove on the crossroads) and the other going the path of corporatism. The path of the first leads him to see the hardships of others and causes him to want to help in anyway he can. The path of the second leads him to become powerful and greedy. He justifies his actions as right (my cause is noble...) and believes he is improving his country. The two friends clash.
In the end, the second realizes the horror of what he has done and realizes he can never take back his actions.
This song is full of themes and symbols which are relevant throughouto the world. The dove is commonly used as peace, the security cameras represent government invasion of privacy, the wrecking ball indicates destruction for improvement (thereby destroying the dove). No, you misunderstand me. I certainly saw those parts of the song and I understand their relevance to current events. But I think the song is speaking more broadly. "My cause is noble" isn't just about defeating terrorists, it's about US hegemony over the past fifty years. It's about self-righteousness and might = right. For me the narrator of the song isn't Bush, it's the USA.

when they reach the crossroads, the dove is freedom and the "c" is buisiness. the same "c" appears all over. The first friend is proud to be an american, and obviously is poor towards the end. When the black bird swoops down and kills the dove in the trumpet solo, it symbolizes dictatorship killing freedom, and when the lyrics say "i can make anyone go to prison just because i don't like them" this shows the leader has absolute powere rather than a democracy

I will be very impressed if someone can give me an explanation of this song and accompanying video that not only makes sense according to the song and video but also has a particular importance. This song seems to me like more random raving, with just some random undertone of government oppression. Don't get me wrong, I like the song, but I don't find it important at all.

Riding bicycles represents childhood and innocence.
Two friends split apart, one going the path of love and peace (indicated by the dove on the crossroads) and the other going the path of corporatism. The path of the first leads him to see the hardships of others and causes him to want to help in anyway he can. The path of the second leads him to become powerful and greedy. He justifies his actions as right (my cause is noble...) and believes he is improving his country. The two friends clash.

The dove is commonly used as peace, the security cameras represent government invasion of privacy, the wrecking ball indicates destruction for improvement (thereby destroying the dove). This video perhaps serves as a warning to those who forsake friendship for themselves.

"human nature" as you people are reducing such a complex catagory of sentience into such a small phrase, is to view, then react acording to how others react. as you can see by the video, (which is very accurate) only a few people are able to think for themselves so predominately, others find themselves 'needing' a leader. so, they choose their side, and behavior adjusts. what so many americans don't realize today is that WE HAVE A CHOICE. they simply do what their told, or opposite of such.

If you want to see someone's characteristics, if you want to see what somebody is really like inside, give them power. I think this song is about how the more power somebody gets, the great leaders will use it to make the world a better place but the evil leaders will use the power to destroy the world. Throughout the video the blonde-haired guy is always more successful than the red-haired guy but you notice that the red-haired guy is a nicer, kinder-hearted person.
