  • to add something to that, you realize youre using the term for a politician in our country's government as an insult? thats the kind of thing i was talking about. and not to mention originally republicans were the more free thinkers, but not long after lincoln, the government changed.

  • fuck you

  • @anewillss : im not a democrat, nor am i republican (clearly) in my opinion both of them in thier own ways could bring down the nation. honestly? i dont like our government. our democracy is actually more of a type or oligarchy if im remembering correct. not only that but we are now a country of contradiction. you call me a democrat. i say that i hate both sides. good day, sir.

  • the ending is sad cuz the guy who chose politics kills his friend who chose to be like a guerilla warfare type person so much meaning 2

  • Comment removed

  • this song is awesome and obama sucks.

  • thats why obama us is geting us out of the hole that bush got us in right and i wasnt even an obama supporter but i must say hes doing a damn good job.

  • no he didnt he put us more in the hole than bush did. He spent more than what all the presidents before him spent in there term.

  • yeahi agree with this 100% obama makes bush look like the best president of the century...

  • ok name one thing obama did that had a positive effect on our country, one thing.

  • 1.being the first black president

  • @tybrackman84 agreed

  • I hate how so many people only listnen to the 1st few lines of the song and think that its just meant to be catchy and has no meaning i was 1st intraduced 2 this song by my brother saying look how stupid this is. The song is about mankinds quest for power. He starts out being able to ride his bike without handlebars then wants 2 do something bigger and so on. You probobly wont even read this because it's to long but im just saying

  • agree with ya

  • this has so much meaning love it

  • hola

  • The handlebars are missing how are we going to find them again

  • I pretty much agree with most of you,but i dont think this video has any thing to do with the present. Its more about what will happen in the near future,if we collectively as a country continue down this path into the darkness.Certain individuals may speculate on leaders, but it is all of us that are fueling the fire, the only question is,will we change or not.The outcome is up to us Individually.

  • "the war". its obvious you haven't been paying attention. First of all there's two. Second, he said he'd get the majority of troops out of Iraq in 16 months (its been 10), platoon by platoon. its called a phased withdrawal. you don't just say "hey everybody, lets get out now". thats stupid and dangerous. he's on schedule for now.

As for afghanistan, he said from the beginning of his campaign that was the "good war" and he would send more troops. he's doing that.

    stick to cartoons petergriffin

  • Paying attention to what? 2 wars or the war on terrafermer that we are all paying attention to.

This video was produced before the Obama administration was in power, the strange resemblance is just fluke and goes to show how of the time the video is. The concept is very simple its just not what you see in the main stream. There is no need to get upset and think some one is having a go at Obama. They are just having a go at the corrupt sick system that controls your every day life.

  • Here here.

  • you completely misunderstood. i was responding to someone who WAS having a go at obama.

  • this song never got to me untill i saw the music video.

i think hes trying to say that the govt can do anything with no concequences.

the the beginning is more metaphoracal

  • this truly is one of the greatest songs ever written. maybe not in the original, sense, they didnt influence music. But the passion and meaning behind the lyrics is amazing...

  • why u make private

  • The overall meaning of this video of this video is to stop and think why are you doing what your doing and is intuitive. The first set of lyrics are about enjoying life and thats why hes happy. The second and third are about he wants power. but when it comes to the end he regrets it. Basically just enjoy your life and stop trying to control everything.

  • why does that one guy look so suprised when his friend dies he knew that would happen and he did nothing to stop it also what did he do that made everyone so mad ?????

  • so sucks

  • The animation goes hand in hand with the song... This Group Is Genius. (watch my videos)

  • these guys sing for a reason

  • I could care less about arguing over politics on a comment box. All i gotta say is this song REALLY loses its meaning without the music video to go with it.

  • how many Muslim countries give their citizens 1/10 the freedom we have in the U.S.A.? How many girls in the U.S. have acid thrown on their face because the walk to school?

  • i dont know, do you?

  • wtf everyones talking obama on a music video

  • i hear this song every day and it never gets old

  • @whateveryoudo1031 Im not even going to go into the conspiricies which many people may bring up, but the war in afganistan and iraq is pretty much an illegal war, with the majority of americans and my countrymen not seeing that, the fact is "Terrorism" is a tactic an idea....and Ideas cant be killed.

  • amazing song

  • Fox News says things that news people are afraid to say and that is the truth!

  • Except that it's bullshit rightist trash. It's already obvious that Fox News is full of republicans, but they ought to shut the fuck up already. Also, fuck Bill O'Reilly.

  • No fuck you...and long live Bill O'Reilly.

  • Trilax you are smart. Pie and Zambia, you're ignorant. I never said he did anything good for this country. But you gotta see some sense here. After Bushs rampage in the oval office its going to take a while for Obama to clean up the mess Bush left us. It pisses me off that most people hate him because he is a so called "terrorist". Just because his middle name is Huissen doesn't make him a terrorist. Thats like saying anyone named Jeffrey is a homo-necropheliac (Jeffrey Dalmer)Get over it

  • but u dont get it obama is plunging america into a war that shouildve ended a year ago

  • @jokester when did i say anything about his middle name being Huissen?

  • obama really not as great as we all thought ....honestly we all just wanted a black president

  • Haha i agree pie and zambia, but jokester has a point, as much as i dislike Obama, he's not going to be impeached so were just going to have to watch our country get shit on

  • lol, if u don't think Obama has done good things for this country, ur probably an ignorant little teenager trying to be "rebellious"

  • and everything comes back to politics and money wow that just sux

  • i hated this song

but ya look deeper and it has meaning

flobots r so different then conventional hip hop. rock-rap/hip hop with strings

  • Wow...let me guess you just repeat everything that anti-democrat Fox News tells you. You're just a right-wing nutjob who would love nothing more than to see Obama fail as a president. Well let me tell you one thing. He won't fail. No one could be as worse as Bush was. Bill Clinton (a democrat) actually got this country out of debt. But look who got us back in it. That stupid redneck Bush. You just hate Obama just for the sake of hating him. And how the hell will he be power hungry???

  • You're a left wing nutjob.

  • No I have common sense. You and any other people who hate Obama are either hardcore Repubs or are just to ignorant to understand anything you are talking about. People need to stop complaining about Obama because he got elected, he is our president, and he will be till 2012 so deal with it and go cry in a corner.

  • If you think Obama has done good things for this country, you're probably on welfare.

  • So true.

  • I love the end it sounds so bad ass

  • My bike doesnt even HAVE handlebars. Does that mean im ghetto, or does it mean i can do all that awesome stuff?

  • i believe this song is about:

if you can ride your bike with no handlebars you can do anything

  • have you really paid attention to the video though?

  • It's already begun

  • obama was a filthy liberal even before his power hunger began

  • It's about choosing the right path and " riding my bike with no handle bars" Is like an example of freedom, It's about having a good life and doing what's best. And that there's so much to do in this world.

  • you may not know what path your on man

    but thats for you decide

    you wont know what path

unless you fight for the right reasons

  • i love this vid seriously.. havent heard this track for like a year but man.. with the 2 paths? the corporate C and the dove? and the dove and the crow or whatever it is at 1:53. its genius. but really. whose going on which path? i honestly dont even know which path im on

  • its the changes of the world

    going down the wrong road

    can disrupt nature

    friends can change and turn

    Those you thought were friends

Went down the wrong road too

    but the road wasnt yours

does that still mean its right???

(THE RIGHT WAY WAS LEFT) X D

  • what does it actually represent/ mean?

awesome video, nice beat and lyrics

  • awesome song

  • im guessing this song is about to guys n bicylcles doing a crazy(riding your bike without handlebars)One power hungery and ignorant

and one who just likes to go out side and enjoy his earthly life showing how two people who grew up together in the same place they different paths.i still don't undestand this song completly though

  • this song is the best and the music video is also the deepest. a great moral to this video

  • A+ mmm that's good political art

  • I love this song so much, First time I've seen this video. But this song is GOOD.

  • The song is showing the pursuits of people. Two identical people coming from the same location taking two separate paths. The one is taking his time, smelling the roses, enjoying life for what it's worth, and he's a good guy.

The other goes after the pursuit of money, and is lost in all the lies bullshit and corruption.

  • ok thanks, i now undertand it better

  • Or conversely, changes the entire world.

  • they're saying that if you let go of what you are dependent on you will have more choices in life... there's many more meanings for this song though...

  • holy crap this is the first time ive listened to this song and tried to understand it and omg i have so much respect for the flobots now

  • I, after listening to this song for over a year, have come to this conclusion.

At the beginning of this video, we see them going down a hill, w/o hands, gaining speed. this signifies childhood and reckless teenagerhood. they then slow down, signifying college/becoming 18.

  • Speechless.

  • to me it says tht humanity will destroy itself by war!!!

  • probly so

  • Man this conversation has gotten so convoluted due to people replying to the replys of others. in order to make sense of it, click VIEW ALL COMMENTS.

    :-D

  • To me this song symbolizes america (derp) The dove is the path for the innocent, the free path where the government has control of you. The "C" represents corporate nature or the government. The blond hair takes power and eventually his armies, AMERICA'S armies kill his friend, symbolizing that the government has no control of their armies.

  • Don't you think they are saying the government has to much control, especially over their armies and that is why the are capable of doing all of those listed things in the end portion of the song.

  • I think they're saying that it's easy to get carried away with your own power without thinking about the consequences of that power.

  • they're making a direct reference to bush and the iraq war. you have to follow politics to see it

  • If you want it to be, sure, there's plenty of evidence to support a reading like that. But there's so much more to this song, man. This song COULD be about anyone- it's just a great human condition piece.

  • I think it's a little more broad than that.

But yeah, I can deffinatly see the refference in the lyrics from 2:16 to 3:00. And I don't even follow politics.

    I love this song.

  • chefawkes, I believe you were being sincere, but it's pretty insulting to imply I don't follow politics simply because I felt the song was intended to be deeper than a simple reflection of the Bush administration. To me it's speaking more about power in general.

  • My reach is global - american empire

My tower secure - white house cant be touched

My cause is noble - defeat "terrorists"

My power is pure - neo-conservatives believe its what god intended; bush admitted this.

I can make anybody go to prison

Just because I don't like 'em v - thats been happening since 9/11. its called extreme rendition. anybody who the gov deems suspect can have all their rights taken away and jailed with no trial.

  • And I can do anything with no permission

I have it all under my command - yep, that's the bush white house. they did a lot of nasty shit without the U.N or congress' permission. they just didnt give a fuck.

Because I can guide a missile by satellite

    By satellite

By satellite - computerized predator drone strike, or the other million ways the U.S can blow your country up by pushing a button at their desk.

holocaust - if things keep going on that path.

  • the bush administration does show what happens with power in the wrong hands. you can follow politics and still the interpretation wrong. but if you dont follow a little politics at all. you wont see any of the connections i made. it'll be just another song with vague lyrics about how power corrupts.

  • No, you misunderstand me. I certainly saw those parts of the song and I understand their relevance to current events. But I think the song is speaking more broadly. "My cause is noble" isn't just about defeating terrorists, it's about US hegemony over the past fifty years. It's about self-righteousness and might = right. For me the narrator of the song isn't Bush, it's the USA.

  • your right i agree.

  • who else is gonna be in control of armies? pff

  • thats why he says he's a rapper?

  • most ironic thing ever

when you post too many comments you have to enter the code thingy? right below it it says "can't read?"

    wtf

  • For people who can't see very well, maybe. They can write though. Even a blind guy can write.

  • same thing happened to me earlier. LoL. To quote you, who in turn quoted some guy, "Great minds think alike."

    :-D

  • so many symbols in this video

when they reach the crossroads, the dove is freedom and the "c" is buisiness. the same "c" appears all over. The first friend is proud to be an american, and obviously is poor towards the end. When the black bird swoops down and kills the dove in the trumpet solo, it symbolizes dictatorship killing freedom, and when the lyrics say "i can make anyone go to prison just because i don't like them" this shows the leader has absolute powere rather than a democracy

  • and who voted for the gov? yeah..

  • Not always a valid argument. Corrupt leaders are almost always elected democratically. Adolf Hitler was elected as leader of Germany, then used a loophole in order to dismantle the democratic system and install a single-party state.

  • Not always a valid argument.

yeah sure. thats great and obvious. im talking about america here so it is perfectly valid bush was voted in twice. claim ignorance the first time, but not the second.

  • Hitler wasn't corrupt, he was a man of principle. It's his principles that were the problem.

  • Also note that while the first guy is represented by the dove, the second is represented by the raven. Raven only appears a few times, but it kills the dove.

Sorry for continueing, there is just too much of import in this vid and I love it. :-D

  • why must you try and explain the fucking song just shut it and listen to the damn song!!!!!!

  • People tend to talk about the video in the comments, hence the existence of the comments function. If you do not want to know people's opinions on the videos you watch, then don't read their comments.

  • I never said dont comment, I just hate when people argue about what the song means, I just dont like people explaining the song

  • like anybody really gives a shit

  • @keetonman well they said the song is open for interpretation and it touches on good points and it is definatly worth debating simply for the purpose of furthering views beyod what you believe... even if you dont agree its interesting to see what people get out of a song

  • why cant they comment on it? are you gonna give them a detention or something? stop getting so frikken worked up about it

  • why are you reading comments if you don't like what he's saying? People talk about the vid in comments, and why are you reading them if 80% of comments are about the vid? ds

  • I will be very impressed if someone can give me an explanation of this song and accompanying video that not only makes sense according to the song and video but also has a particular importance. This song seems to me like more random raving, with just some random undertone of government oppression. Don't get me wrong, I like the song, but I don't find it important at all.

  • It's about the effect of the choices people can make, and how they may be different than those you're friends choose.... that's the way i see it anyway. Personally, I think the song in itself is open to interpretation...

  • im not gonna bash you or anything, i see where your coming from i just disagree with you, i find that it has deep importance

  • Riding bicycles represents childhood and innocence.

Two friends split apart, one going the path of love and peace (indicated by the dove on the crossroads) and the other going the path of corporatism. The path of the first leads him to see the hardships of others and causes him to want to help in anyway he can. The path of the second leads him to become powerful and greedy. He justifies his actions as right (my cause is noble...) and believes he is improving his country. The two friends clash.

  • In the end, the second realizes the horror of what he has done and realizes he can never take back his actions.

This song is full of themes and symbols which are relevant throughouto the world. The dove is commonly used as peace, the security cameras represent government invasion of privacy, the wrecking ball indicates destruction for improvement (thereby destroying the dove). This video perhaps serves as a warning to those who forsake friendship for themselves.

    T'is a long explanation, :-D

  • holy shit

i wrote almost the exact same thing without reading these comments lmfao wow great minds think alike LOL

  • it really depends on how you look at it and how long you are willing to look at it

  • Mhm. good song the first song that heard that has a point.

  • this is SICK !!!!!!

  • OMG ITS THE WEAKER CHUCK NORRIS!!!

  • who else can ride a bike with out handlebars?

  • i sawed off my handlebars and replaced them with a steering wheel

  • lol...ok

  • Best lyrics EVER, they actually make sense.

  • Man, this moive makes the song make WAY more sense. Somehow

  • weve killed more of the innocent in that country than they have us. peace is always the better option.

  • this song shows some great points sorta like saying i have power, intelligence now bow before i kill you

  • Look at me I can have a life without a soul without a soul and I can see the world blue yes blue just like her & you!

  • "human nature" as you people are reducing such a complex catagory of sentience into such a small phrase, is to view, then react acording to how others react. as you can see by the video, (which is very accurate) only a few people are able to think for themselves so predominately, others find themselves 'needing' a leader. so, they choose their side, and behavior adjusts. what so many americans don't realize today is that WE HAVE A CHOICE. they simply do what their told, or opposite of such.

  • is this like Rock/Rap?

  • yea it reminds my of the linkin park soud

  • amazing video

  • awesome song and vid :)

  • and i'm proud to be an American;)

  • amazing song it shows a good story and a good point.

  • wow... FCKIN LUV THIS!!!! =D =D =D =D

  • Exactly.

  • @whateveryoudo1031 "who's religion is by nature hostile" Pure nonsense. Do some research. And yes thats exactly what im saying, human nature is corrupt but that in itself is no excuse. There was always an option for peace at one time or another and the retards that we call leaders didnt take it.

  • I love it, it seems everytime i Liten to this song it only makes more sense and is more addictive, gotta say clap clap the flobots once again

  • this song is amazing. It shows such a big story in just 3 and a half minutes and shows the good, the bad and the ugly side of life.

  • when i'm bored, i put this song on, and it's so relaxing. makes you think of the society and the world we are living in. This song makes so much sense, and it kinda has all the answers.

  • killerkan what in the world are you even talking about

of course there is justifying war

  • LOL......=D

  • A lot of symbolism in this video. Nise.

  • @whateveryoudo1031 That is the dumbest comment ive ever read. There is no justifying war.

  • says the kid with "killer" in his name.

When people realize that War is part of human nature and will NEVER cease while humans still exist they can maybe leave their cool hipster knit caps at home.

  • Comment removed

  • Also there are signs throughout the video, like how the hawk kills the dove; though the hawk is bigger and stronger, the dove is looking for peace instead of destruction. Also, the company with the big C destroys a brick wall with a symbol of a dove on it.

  • i think the C stands for a corporation

  • no shit sherlock.

  • thought i was the only one who noticed

  • @ puppyomelette

  • If you want to see someone's characteristics, if you want to see what somebody is really like inside, give them power. I think this song is about how the more power somebody gets, the great leaders will use it to make the world a better place but the evil leaders will use the power to destroy the world. Throughout the video the blonde-haired guy is always more successful than the red-haired guy but you notice that the red-haired guy is a nicer, kinder-hearted person.

  • OMG so0o good, it IS hard to ride a bike with no handlebars!

But I think I got it now, it took a lot of practice!

  • nice song pimp

  • i like the meaning of this song

  • btw he obviously stole this bike.

  • i love this song its so fucking deep and i love it but what does he trying to say or represent when he says he can ride a bike with no handlebars like it obviously has to do with something

  • Doing stuff freely without someone telling you

  • Sry accidently put ihavemydignity as spam... read it... it's true

  • this song speaks deeply man right to the heart

  • SO MOVING

  • Super cool song & vid

  • note at 0:27 the blond guy is way ahead of the red haired guy. Could that mean anything

  • maybe because if you pay attention to the sign, the direction the blond hair guy took was to that of the weird (C) thing, that was the sign of the tyrants thing. and the red hair guy took the dove (peace) and the blond hair guyy is in control of the company and now wants power, and the red haired guy wants peace and fairness, but the blond guy feels bad when the red haired guy gets killed because they were friends who took the wrong path, and the blond hair guys path took him to power fast,

  • epic song and the video is pretty sad..it's all true though i love that songs like this..mean so such but u can bounce to it too XD

  • lol no kidding, I agree with yonut2oo5.

  • This song says how ANYBODY can be and do what he / she wants and so much more , everybody interprets it in its own way , this is how good the song is.

Oh , and naruto , your name says a lot , come back and listen it again in 5-10 years when you`ll grown , and see what the song means to you then.

  • dont forget, the second part of the song, where he turns into a tyrant, handlebars can be like a metaphor for like restrictions, and his bike can be his life, so its saying his life has no restrictions, and with no restrictions, he can be what he wants to be, EVEN a tyrant

  • Never thought of it like that .. damn this song is deep lol.

I've always liked this song though.

  • talkin 2 me or yonut?

  • I knew what yonut said, and was originally talking to you - but it really applies for both of you.

    Awesome song anyway.

  • theres' the contradiction between leading the nation with a microphone and splitting the atom of a molecule, in a way the song seems to be about the possible routes and ways to exhibit strength and free will

  • this song's about the potential of humanity, to me, and how far we've come. over course, there's political undertones there. Whoever said it's about george bush is a fucktard, however.

  • narutodude955 You're Dumb. This Songs talk about the world. How we human do shit, just to
