I like the idea of using the ball and passive hip flexion to reduce the lumbar lordosis. However, by ACTIVATING hip flexors you're promoting an anterior pelvic tilt, which is lordosis best buddy (unless patient has excellent pelvic control with abdominals). It seems to me that by activating the iliopsoas, the glutes would be reciprocally inhibited in this situation, not the paraspinals.

Great concept Nick, I'm going to try this tonight at the gym. I tend to hyperextend my lumbar spine when doing any quadraped drills.
