  • I know this is an older video, but I was wondering what strings you were using, and if you used any effects like, say , a chorus or something.

    Best regards,

    Blessings

  • where is your Jbass from?

  • Very nice video, very nice.

  • that first note in the solo gave me shivers!

  • Oh, nice sound your bass has! :)

Maybe u dont use tabs but could u get some for me? The one I got aint that good as yours. Thanks

  • Use your ears and eyes my friend. Find out the key the songs in, and take it from there.

    It's all about feel.

  • @WeCamefortheDead

its also good to know what chords are played with and go over the modes of those chords in relation to the key until your inner ear starts to pick up on the voicing, then its all about feel

  • @dalcon555 true true, I had forgotten to mention the chords and scales.

  • @Absolutionftw as WeCamefortheDead already said, use your ears pal! Also you should learn to read! You'll more likely find notes for this song than tabulatures.

  • you have an amazing taste, my friend!!!!

    I love it!

One of my fav on the tube!!!!

    Sincerely

    Fabio

  • Hi, do you use an effect like a reverb in your vids ?

It's incredible, in your hands, the jazz bass sound like the ken Smith !!!

Whatever you are a great musician and i love your style !

    Best regard from France.

  • Great Playing!

  • you are so good man

  • I'm not gayn BUT I LOVE YOU!

  • Where did you get the track to play over?

  • Just regular Jamey Aebersold backing tracks. When you buy one of their methods you receive the CD with this backing tracks. The CD is stereo with on the right channel piano/guitar and drums and on the left channel bass and drums. So you can filter out instruments you don't want or play yourself.

  • Sorry to be a pain, but can you tell me which method (exactly) that is? Thanks! BTW - I watched your vid again... sweet.

  • Jamey Aebersold methods :) The song in the vid, "So What", can be found in "Jamey Aebersold - Vol. 50: Magic of Miles"

  • Thanks!

  • Yep, sounds like Aebersold. :)

  • As below, it's Jamey Abersold. The track is "So What", for those that didn't know. :)

  • Wow, what a great bass player! You can tell you really enjoy what you do. So much feeling, keep it up!

  • amazing man it seems like your in to the music you play, i can see it in your face. keep it up

  • Really great tone! Very Jaco Pastorious like :D And ofc nice playing :D

  • Another great solo of bassran. 5 stars

  • Man, you got it goin on! I love your stuff. Where did you learn your art? Or are you a child prodigy? In either case, you've got a new fan.

  • I believe there's the stuff u learn and the stuff ur born with! You my man know ur way around ur instrument. This clip should be used as an example of how to play with balance between ue heart and ur skills. Great solo!!

  • Im going to transcribe your solo!!

  • You got an IMPRESSIVE SWING in your fingers!!! ..i love dynamics.. (of course even the solo..!)

    Respect!!! :D

-i will study on this vid-

  • what scales did you use for your solo

  • awesome!

  • I usually don't post comments, but I really liked this man. Keep up the good work.

  • how do i get this good im 15 and im trying to learn jazz bass

  • How? Spin around 4 times and jump as high as you can while watching Seinfeld.

  • hahahaha.......twice!

  • Practice, man. Just practice.

  • I learned to play the bass by picking on up, playing, and not stopping for six years...that works :) Practice, dude. ALL the time!

  • what for me worked; know how each fret sounds. try to the sing the tone first before you hit it, you're playing by ear will improve greatly by doing that

  • Read, practice, watch, listen, analyze, play from the heart. Play with a metronome and try to learn many styles. Focus on your strengths and weaknesses. I started when I was 15 and I've come some way but close not at the level of Ran (this guy). Maybe in 5 years when I'm his age.

  • Greet job!!!

  • ah my God. That was great. Favourited.

  • I like the way you articulated the melody

  • your the dogs nuts!!! very good

  • if i had to choose anyone on youtube to teach me and there are some seriously awesome bassists here, it would be this guy hands down.

  • Nice solo vocab and feel. You're inspiring me to practice!!

  • Good playing! But ... I like to play (and listen) this melody more "legato" ;-)

  • wow mann amazing

  • nice! how long have you been playing?

wish I had some of your chops dude!

    Brad

  • quite a bassface hahahahha

  • Hey! Great playing!

Nice Jazz bass, too! Is it active or passive?

You get a lovely warm tone out of it. I have a passive fretted and an active fretless Fender JB... they're awesome!

    4:10 - a very cheeky harmonic!

Great post! I've learned a few licks from it that will be great. Thank you!!

  • Great playing, but i think the sound is clipping a little bit at some points.

  • give me abrake...most videos are recorded with the cameras microphone...

if you dont have anything smart to tell me(bad or good)then dont!

clipping??pleas!!!i dont have problem with criticism but you are relly annoyed me.clipping... lol

  • lol

  • @bassran dude this is STELLAR playing - no matter how you recorded it.

  • @bassran ^angry jew.

  • @bathory714 with how much energy and passion he puts into his solos, I think some clipping can be appropriate!

  • Wow! Very nice playing! some of the best on youtube! more vids please!

  • I like very much your sound!!

  • Your playing is the best! I really like your genre of music and style. That bass your using is awesome. Great musician.

  • Great!!! You are realy cool!

  • very nice

  • Great!! Awesome sound!! :O

  • Wow, I LOVE your solos! There is much more than speed and technique here, you are very talented.

And I love your facial expressions too, straight from the John Patitucci school of bass playing! ;-)

Is that a 60's Jazz bass? Also, the sound is so good for youtube, are you playing into a laptop with a webcam, and monitoring the sound with the headphones by chance?

At any rate, this was VERY nice, please keep 'em coming.
