  • Midge Ure was finally able to survive to this nuclear devastation! And he still made some great songs after this.., what a genius! Ultravox, one of the best groups in history of modern music, the future and the innovation were in the 80's! Pure paronoia through lyrics; perfect for present times!

  • ultravox one of the best bands ever tuneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • I have always wanted to belt this out at karaoke, but I know it would probably just end in tragedy.:)

  • Strength of nuclear!!!

  • it is incredible how the cold war effect ran into the normal living of people, the nuclear war drama is seen in many videos from the 80s. all this before chernobyl

  • @kumatosky Yeah thats why this clip is filmed like this: to sell good to public. And they get scared, lol.

  • memorias da minha adolescencia ficara para sempre

  • wow...............:(

  • When the vid first started I thought that was the jigsaw guy from saw!!! Lolz

  • woooo mon the scots hahaha

  • 2012

  • When videos meant something....

  • Im very happy the world did not end in 1981 as we would not have had all those wonderful Bon Jovi songs.

  • the thing is when this was made in the 80's we actually believed that there would be a nuclear (sp?) apocalypse. Does anyone else recall the whole "the world's gonna end in 1981 crap? I was 16 ans actually believed it! :).......So oddly enough @ thw time this was made, it wasn't really sci fi - we thought it was the future.

  • @useonceanddestroy73 Its an annual corporate scam, they use to boost sales sublimaly through mind games, fuck the system, or maYBE IM HIGH

  • This video is an example what can happen in future if some people will be careless

  • You don't have to be born in the 80's to love the music from that decade. I was born in 1993 and the 80's easily trumps any other decade for music! Such a shame I can't convince any of my flatmates to see Duran Duran with me.

  • ACHHH remember....

  • wtf? kesha made a song with this name and it shows up first when i search for this title

  • @vaadaenmacchi You can quietly smile my friend .... Kesha in 20 years will be gone with all her useless songs and no one will remember her! Ultravox with their music there will always be! :-)

  • I listened to this because i heard the cover from Avantasia. Good song!

  • i am getting old

  • @TheColin65 who isnt mate?

  • God THIS IS PURE MAGIC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <33

  • You gotta love the 80's, what a decade!

  • I can remember as a child that this video always made me feel so sad

  • I still wonder why all the people are supposed to be dead by radiation( they seem to have been vaporised), but the flowers in the living room have survived the blast.

  • tonight i have been indulging in some 80's music- i feel like my heart is about to burst from the memories good and bad that are coming back to me!!!

  • This is really a promotinal advert for IKEA, isn't it?

  • Is that Christopher Biggins @0:33?

  • I can't help but wonder what the average age of the commentators is for this song. All I'll say is I was 13 when it was in the charts

  • J'adore cette chanson SUPER

  • why would anyone who's looked up ultravox want to listen to One Direction which Vevo is doing adverts for?

  • lets dance...

  • only 300k views... the world is pretty fucked up

  • I love Vevo.

If they are pushing some new singer or group in the ads, i know its crappy no talent sheeple elevator muzak, and wont have to waste my time on it.

Thanks Vevo, you make looking for good new music a snap!

  • reminds me of my youth & proper music

  • Great song and video

  • This is so awesome... I kinda recognize it but don't know why. :/

  • I love this song but dont like the video.. Dont care about the video though....I still love this song forever. 80s music rules.

  • I remember when I saw this video when it first came out - I cried like a baby........mind you I was about 8 at the time. Thought it was a news broadcast and the world was going to end lol

  • lighten up juricabraja...they also wrote the Lords Prayer... a song called Hymn?

  • GREAT SONG!!! GREAT VIDEO!!!!!BUT THE SELENA GOMEZ TRAIL ON TOP OF THIS VIDEO SCREW THE WHOLE THING THE HELL WITH THE MOVIE SHAME ON VEVO TRYING TO FORCE THE PEOPLE TO WATCH SOMETHING ELSE!

  • midge ure was one hell of a cool dude

  • @beatletat he'll never have that hairstyle again though..

  • They have predicted Chernobyl, the song is from 1984 and the disaster from 1986!

  • @juricabraja How about Three Mile Island/Harrisburg in 1979? Leningrad 1975? Do your homework!

  • @juricabraja The difference was that Chernobyl was kept silent for a few days, and when it was discovered by a satellite the Russian government even tried to deny it!

  • has anyone ever noticed how midge ure always wears his trousers exceedingly high?

  • 80s lady ftw!

  • AMAZING!!! I LOVE THE 80's

  • 8 dislikes are Justin Bieber fans.

  • As I recall this video was banned in Canada due to it's content.. The Cold War was still going and the subject matter was disturbing given the times.

I think it is a good tune and a better video given the time!

  • Do you hear that? NO AUTOTUNE. Even if it wasn't invented yet. Does someone here have a time machine?.......... I'm serious.

  • One of the saddest videos ever

  • Best music <3

  • the dismal drugged out 1980s and those walks home at 5am on a Sunday morning

  • love this song however vid annoys me being a parent myself if i knew i was gonna die i would want my kids next to me as well as my partner does anyone else agree cause they left their daughter in her room ( i know its not real ) but just wondering??

  • @samuelsmum100 As a teenager in the 80's I never even noticed this, but as a mum and gran in 2011, that was my exact thought when I just watched it..how I've changed..lol..

  • I found this version by Avantasia's cover. And love both!

  • Fucks off nuc!

  • I used to have a record player like the one at 2:11 where the cover closed automatically. I thought it was the dogs lol.

  • the avantasia version is really much better...

  • @TheCesarmamani I'd never heard that version till now (in fact never heard of avantasia) and I have to say I still prefer Ultravox. By a mile. Do not know the name of the guy singing on Avantasia's version but I do not like his voice at all. In my opinion they have ruined the song.

  • the avantasia version is really much better...

  • Good song destroyed by a Lady Gaga ad. Shame on you YouTube, shame on you.

  • [*] for those, who died in atomic disasters...

And really the best clip ever...

  • Entire Japan is dancing with tears in their eyes...

  • vevo's steven tyler picture is creeping the shit out of me. that face will be in my nightmares for weeks.

  • @klax001 just use an add blocker program to block the image, I did that with Lady Gaga's face who is creeping me out

  • @klax001 You're lucky. I got Kanye West in dark shades doin' a mean duck face. Now I'm creeped out.

  • I fear this may happen to us all if they do not decommission nuclear power and find alternatives. Man just keeps messing with earth..... until either it is so polluted or the end of earth....

  • I get tears in my eyes everytime I watch this video, its always got to me:-(

  • One of my prefered ULTRAVOX Song !!

  • vevo means death of music.

  • Geoff Chandler's fave vid lol.

  • Is that Christopher Biggins @ 4:24??

  • lol before you say blabla its too old u should know this ;

nuclear power plants have almost only electronic devices etc which are 20years + old. Why ? Coz it has been tested & tested for a loong time & is considered more secure than "top technology" which hasnt been tested over years...

  • forse i più grandi, fonte d'ispirazione di tutti ghli altri che fecero la new romantic.Li adoro!!!!!!

  • A si me quede yo bailando con lágrimas en mis ojos después de esa noticia tan terrible

  • SONO MITICI!

  • what would you do if something like chernobyl or fukushima happens in a nuclear power plant in your country or near the place you live …

noticed how many nuclear power plants there are? noticed how OLD these nuclear power plants are?

  • @frisco1968 The electricity that powers your P.C. to post these rants on YouTube would be over that's for sure. Where do you reckon it comes from? What would you do if they all shut down?

  • @nickbaldeagle01 There are plenty of alternatives, if only people in positions of power would not be so short-sighted. Of course, it will take time to shut these semi-clean power plants down without any averse effect, but if the general public keeps defending them, when will we ever start putting serious alternatives in place? You're preaching a self-fulfilling profecy: "There's no alternative, so nuclear power is good." and "Nuclear power is good, so why search for alternatives?"

  • @Co19801003 What serious alternatives are there to providing the electrical requirements of 9 billion people? There are none. Nuclear all the way. Go Nuclear.

  • @nickbaldeagle01 Indeed, there are none. And the attitude you're advocating will make sure there never will be. Let me put it this way: even if nuclear is best now, that does not mean we should be too conservative to at least TRY and find something even better, even if it's just to exclude other possibilities. Standing still and being passive is only good for big companies who are making big bucks, not for mankind in general.

I respect your opinion, I just doubt nuclear power is future-proof.

  • @Co19801003 The decaying radioactive rods that power the Voyager satellite are still powering the craft over 30 years after launch. It is my belief that one day we will have nuclear powered motor vehicles. The sun and all the stars are all nuclear powered. It's nuclear or nothing. The power of the atom. The ultimate long lasting energy source.

  • @nickbaldeagle01 I wouldn't like to be in a car crash as it stands, but when we get nuclear-powered cars, I wouldn't even like to be AROUND one ;-)

My two concerns are: safety and nuclear waste. I know there are lots of fail-safes, but the Japan incident has proven that they are not prepared for EVERYTHING. The waste issue calls for research into a way to use/recycle it effectively, I think. Once both of these issues are solved, I'm more than happy to change my mind :-)
