the thing is when this was made in the 80's we actually believed that there would be a nuclear (sp?) apocalypse. Does anyone else recall the whole "the world's gonna end in 1981 crap? I was 16 ans actually believed it! :).......So oddly enough @ thw time this was made, it wasn't really sci fi - we thought it was the future.
You don't have to be born in the 80's to love the music from that decade. I was born in 1993 and the 80's easily trumps any other decade for music! Such a shame I can't convince any of my flatmates to see Duran Duran with me.

My two concerns are: safety and nuclear waste. I know there are lots of fail-safes, but the Japan incident has proven that they are not prepared for EVERYTHING. The waste issue calls for research into a way to use/recycle it effectively, I think. Once both of these issues are solved, I'm more than happy to change my mind :-)

@nickbaldeagle01 Indeed, there are none. And the attitude you're advocating will make sure there never will be. Let me put it this way: even if nuclear is best now, that does not mean we should be too conservative to at least TRY and find something even better, even if it's just to exclude other possibilities. Standing still and being passive is only good for big companies who are making big bucks, not for mankind in general.
I respect your opinion, I just doubt nuclear power is future-proof.

@Co19801003 The decaying radioactive rods that power the Voyager satellite are still powering the craft over 30 years after launch. It is my belief that one day we will have nuclear powered motor vehicles. The sun and all the stars are all nuclear powered. It's nuclear or nothing. The power of the atom. The ultimate long lasting energy source.

@nickbaldeagle01 I wouldn't like to be in a car crash as it stands, but when we get nuclear-powered cars, I wouldn't even like to be AROUND one ;-)
My two concerns are: safety and nuclear waste. I know there are lots of fail-safes, but the Japan incident has proven that they are not prepared for EVERYTHING. The waste issue calls for research into a way to use/recycle it effectively, I think. Once both of these issues are solved, I'm more than happy to change my mind :-)
