And as someone who liked the Brendon Frasier movie, I have to say, having finally watched the original just last night, the original was much better. I like the ending of the original better. In the remake, we saw what looked like a definite, positive future. But in the original, the future wasn't so definite--but Stanley finally got his freedom back, and that's inspiring enough.
@walkingbear56 I was just about to write the self same thing! You beat me to it. Haha......If you listened to this without knowing or watching, that's exactly who springs to mind (shows how advanced this film was, huh?).
Fantastic movie and I still sing these songs. I wish they'd never ruined the name by making that terrible remake with Brendan Fraser and Elizabeth Hurley. It's like how they are currently ruining Arthur with a Remake.
I saw this original '67 movie on late last week for the first time. I didn't know this was out there, and love it WAAAY better than the newer version. Thanks for posting this clip!
Good news -- iTunes has just made the soundtrack available in the US -- you can download all of it or the individual songs like this one. Great soundtrack, all of it written by Dudley Moore.
It was a single. There was a soundtrack album. Sound quality wasn't very good, and it's very collectable/costly. Think it has been re-released on a foreign label as a CD, poor quality. That was a year or two ago. Might be out properly now.
"You fill me with inertia" is my favourite lyric of all time.
Note how Dud sings a song pleading with the girls to love him but Pete sings a song where he's a distant bad boy...and the girls all prefer that one! Very subtly done.
@Rhubba Pointing out what a pretentious arse you appear to be is not trolling. Maybe you should look the word up when you check the definition of "subtly" re your original post.
@Rhubba Total agreement. You win the internets today! This is an amazing film. I do like the Leaping Berylians, however, and of course the croquet sequence et al.

So underground were they, however, that this film constitutes just about the only record of their non-motile stupendousness.
