  • I don't know how many times a week I want to say to someone, "You fill me with inertia."

  • He reminds me of Syd Barrett also I Love this song. <3

  • Comment removed

  • he could be Scott Walker ......

  • I Love this Tune! RIP Peter Cook

  • The Vegetations were surely one of the greatest bands of the 60s.

So underground were they, however, that this film constitutes just about the only record of their non-motile stupendousness.

Tropism: it's the way of the future, kids.

  • Haha Peter Cook and Dudley Moore

  • "You fill me with inertia".

When Peter says that, he looks like he just wants to hit them.

    :D

  • The original Pete and Dud Bedazzled film is the best, and this song is my favourite, it drives me wild.

  • Classic! Excellent music and directing!

  • this is more rock opera than anything

  • svinging pianist play teatre -but his jazz trio-wow.

  • This is an incredible piece of music and a gem of a scene.

  • This is the funniest scene ever in any movie I have ever seen

    LOL Brilliant!!

  • =))

  • "I'm not available...."

    Girls go crazy, screaming.

  • love that line- its gold!

  • The presenter looks like a ringer for Owen Wilson, from a distance

  • Peter Cook > Liz Hurley

  • It's Neil Tennant!

  • And as someone who liked the Brendon Frasier movie, I have to say, having finally watched the original just last night, the original was much better. I like the ending of the original better. In the remake, we saw what looked like a definite, positive future. But in the original, the future wasn't so definite--but Stanley finally got his freedom back, and that's inspiring enough.

  • If Drimble Wedge and the Vegetation ever cut an album, I'd definitely buy it. I love this song. They were way ahead of their time.

  • "you fill me with inertia", "i'm self contained"

  • their so tripped out on acid

  • thats Sandy Serjeant dancing in the middle

  • An all-time classic film and classic comedy duo!

  • awesome

  • Peter Cook was a lovable devil, wasn't he?

  • @mistomen Goddamn right.

  • George Spiggot is my hero!

  • "drimble wedge and the vegetations" is the best band name of all time x

  • I love this movie, it's super funny with a message about how Satan really works.

  • Blow your raspberry!

  • 8 people fill me with inertia.

  • you burn me up... cool it

this is one of the most brilliant parts in all cinema from one of me favourite films of all time

  • Pet shop boys?

  • @walkingbear56 I was just about to write the self same thing! You beat me to it. Haha......If you listened to this without knowing or watching, that's exactly who springs to mind (shows how advanced this film was, huh?).

  • What a song! Sounds like Ladytron (with Mira singing of course).

The only band I've ever heard using the word "inertia" is The Long Blondes, and I'm pretty sure they're referencing this.

Fantastic. One of my favourite movies.

Oh, and if you want the soundtrack, good luck.

Even the CD reissue goes for a lot of money...

  • @Jarren202 The soundtrack's just been re-issued (Last year).......at a regular price, around a tenner. Thank the Lord! A great piece of music, huh?

  • @Jarren202 Wonderstuff, Blur, Incubus, Massive Attack, Bruce Dickinson...

  • Is he wearing some kind of premonition of the Ziggy Stardust jumpsuit?

  • "you fill me with inertia" - outstanding !! the greatest new-wave sentiment, a decade before the form existed. wonderful. thank you for posting this

  • He just doesn't care :) works WAY too much of the time!

  • HA-HA-HA!! His face! I'm self contained! Cool it! I'm not available! The BEST!!!!

  • @normloman lol

  • Damn! His disintrest and unavailibility makes me want him. And I'm a straight male. :/

  • What a bizarre, trippy music vid. I liked it.

  • The songs were written by Dud and this one is really interesting harmonically. The jazz influence comes through here.

  • Apparently he was a big fan of Mr. Spock, judging by the hairstyle and the lack of visible emotions. Or perhaps he was trying to *parody* Spock.

  • Best musical ever!!!!! Thanks for the memories, easy on the egg. Nice one!

  • this is a great movie...hahaha

  • Sandy Sarjeant the famous London dancer from RSG dancing on the left from .21-.28 seconds

  • Peter Cook and Dudley Moore are easily 50 times better than all Brendan Fraser movies put together

  • I Love this' it's my favourite part of the film.

The only good part of the remake was the rock star bit & they cut that out !

Thank you, thank you, thank you again x x x

  • Ahhhhhh You fill me with inertia, also used by Lords Of the new church in Bad Timing, another great tune !

  • This one needs to be shared. If not filled with inertia, I'm at least filled with ennui.

  • i just read about this on imdb

    and yes

i kinda like the remake of this movie

but this is different class entirely

'dudley is the beatles and peter cook is like the smiths or the cure or something'

    oh how i larffed

  • "I'm not available"

    Love it!

  • Dudley Moore looks like Gary Glitter here.

  • kind of aloof like jim morrison mixed with a modern day pua - funny as fuck !!

  • Top movie...mod baby!

  • I Love this song!

  • Oh, I got so giddy!

I searched Bedazzled and at the top of the list was this video above all the re-make movie clips!!!!!!

  • Fantastic movie and I still sing these songs. I wish they'd never ruined the name by making that terrible remake with Brendan Fraser and Elizabeth Hurley. It's like how they are currently ruining Arthur with a Remake.

  • looks a lil like Keith Moon

  • Comment removed

  • reminds me of my ex.

  • Psychedelic Furs must've watched this movie.

  • Peter Cooke was so goofy silly in this movie as the devil, but this scene makes one wonder how he'd have done in horror.

Maybe Hammer Studios should've offered him so work.

  • wow look at those 60's effects on the tv!

  • oh man, he's cool as a cucumber

  • I saw this original '67 movie on late last week for the first time. I didn't know this was out there, and love it WAAAY better than the newer version. Thanks for posting this clip!

  • does anyone else find peter really good looking this movie?

  • Very much so. He looks very much like The Beatles' George Harrison.

  • Haha, that's what I thought!

  • Absolutely.

  • Almost Bowie- esqe!

  • That's funny how he sings "go away, leave me alone, I don't need you..." and yet, all the girls go running to him!

  • BEST MOVIE EVER!!!

  • You fill me with INERTIA!

  • I wonder if there is a karaoke version of this somewhere?! That would be epic!

Incidentally, is anyone else reminded of Spock?

  • Now I am. xD

  • Please allow my "detached soundtrack" version - it's in STEREO and took me AGES to sync!

  • I first saw this film on TV back in the 70's-

I was in Lafayette, la, and just eaten a bunch of Mushrooms.

    It changed my Life.

  • This is pure genius! Drimble really lets these chicks have it!

  • Good news -- iTunes has just made the soundtrack available in the US -- you can download all of it or the individual songs like this one. Great soundtrack, all of it written by Dudley Moore.

  • was this a single at any point or just in this film

  • It was a single. There was a soundtrack album. Sound quality wasn't very good, and it's very collectable/costly. Think it has been re-released on a foreign label as a CD, poor quality. That was a year or two ago. Might be out properly now.

  • funny movie

  • Peter Cook looks like Liam Gallagher! The original Bedazzled is soooo much better than the remake. I love this scene :D

  • "You fill me with inertia" is my favourite lyric of all time.

Note how Dud sings a song pleading with the girls to love him but Pete sings a song where he's a distant bad boy...and the girls all prefer that one! Very subtly done.

  • Yeah, I love how Dudley, in his disco-ball suit, anxiously hovers around as his thunder gets completely stolen!

  • @Rhubba "You know pop fans, very fickle lot" is how he explains it, or something similar to it.

  • @Rhubba How incredibly perceptive of you to notice the very point they were making. You amaze me.

  • @MrRik2 Yes, I'm pretty perceptive at spotting satire. Along with sarcasm, piss taking and trolling.

  • @Rhubba That's a good thing. I should imagine you've got quite used it.

  • @MrRik2 I'm also good at not feeding the trolls. Goodbye.

  • @Rhubba Pointing out what a pretentious arse you appear to be is not trolling. Maybe you should look the word up when you check the definition of "subtly" re your original post.

  • @Rhubba Total agreement. You win the internets today! This is an amazing film. I do like the Leaping Berylians, however, and of course the croquet sequence et al.

  • @Rhubba thats the key to getting women you have to act like you dont care if they like you or not.the women always go for the guys who are bad for them.

  • Brilliant movie!!! Well written, acted and directed.

If you like this, check out Cook and Moore on SNL.

  • no se pero es un tema tan psicodelico me agrada tanto apresencia de peter que en verdad esta muy lindo en esas toma y la de dudley que enverdad son una dupla genial

  • Fuck the remake the original had British class and a subversiveness current that anything you wish for will always screw u up

  • Wasnt there a part in this movie where he was a fly? or something? i think i saw it on tv when i was like 8

  • Yeah they were flys on a wall talking to each other in a room where the girl he fancied was with the police i think...

  • I would love to see the Pet Shop boys cover this, Pete's performance is very Neil Tennant.

  • Yeah, yeah, yeah, I was gonna say the same thing! I was thinking more like early Human League! This is one of my favorite scenes in the whole movie!

  • I've just purchased this film after seeing it on this site, fantastic! Can't wait until it arrives to watch it on the big screen. Thank you for uploading xxx

  • dummy? :D, i can't understand all that the girls are saying ( which is why i wanted to find the lyrics), duh

  • does anyone have the lyrics to this song? i can't find them anywhere.

  • Dummy.. just watch it with a pen and paper and write them down... how easy!!!

  • A really great movie!Keeps me laughing everytime i watch it.And this is my favorite scene :D

  • jaja la mejor pelicula inglesa que he visto dirijida por stanley donen, dudley moore la caga gran actuacion me cago de la risa desde el inicio con sus gestos de asco y su puuuu julia andrewss, ja ja

  • Excellent!!!

  • When I saw this scene as a child it was a pivotal moment in my life, it was one reason I got into television production, 8 Emmys later I am so glad I did.

  • Dudley and Peter were great in this film. This was their best collaboration. God Bless both of you and may both of you rest in peace.

  • blow a raspberry Stanley, blow a raspberry...

  • The soundtrack to this film is brill!

  • Yes, I finally found the studio versions for both of these songs.

  • I've been trying to find those for years! Can you tell me where I might do so?

  • johnny rotten based his whole persona from watching peter cooks delivery in this small clip.

Bollocks!! warkminson, read Rotton: No Blacks, No Dogs, No Irish. Then quit huffing your sister's underarm deodorant and voting republican, it's really an embarrassment, but can't you see that? But of course you can't, you're pathetic.

  • johnny rotten based his whole persona from watching peter cooks delivery in this small clip.

    winnie

  • Thought i was lookin at Neil Tennant for a sec !!

  • The Emcee looks like the actor Owen Wilson. Huh. This was a time, as you know of course, when movie making was considered an important art-form, and people's reputations were at stake. Scores were composed, and pains taken to impress astute colleagues, as well the public. Well, those days are OVER! Why bother? You need only a slapdash sound track of early pop charters, and now you've got a CD to release. They make me sick, the Hollywood harlots. Let them all burn in the coming apocalypse

  • Are we to believe there are related postings of that other stupid, unfunny and utterly unflattering imitation? Oh fear. Well,(tshhhh)...that's not on, now is it? Why do they even bother?

  • I'm self contained....just go away ! Don't you ever leave off ? The brilliant Peter Cook

  • "You fill me with inertia"..such a great line.

  • Two words:

    Julie Andrews!

  • 1967... it might as well be 1982... this is so prescient. I just about fell out of my chair when I caught up with this a couple years ago.

  • This is my favorite movie of all time!!!

    PURE GENIUS!!!!

  • Now I know what gary numan's act would have been like if he got his start a decade earlier..

  • Or a weird hybrid of the Troggs and Joy Division. Fabulous film, I'm bedazzled...

  • Id say more like a weird hybrid of Joy Division with Brian Auger and the Trinity, or Arthur Brown maybe..

  • ..and Massive Attack go on about Enertia in mezzanine

  • exactly!!!

  • I agree with you guys, this is one of the best films of all time, it is my favourite too. It is a shame that second version played by Elizabeth Hurley is horrible.

  • Yes a couple of years ago

  • David Bowie was taking notes

  • . . . from EVERYBODY!

  • One of the best movies of all time.

  • I agree niftyg, One of the best movies of all time. It's my favourite and it's so god dame funny.

  • I love the Vegetation! especially the choreography at 1.30 mins'. Didn't Dudley Moore compose all the music to 'Bedazzled'?

  • Dudley Moore was an EXCELLENT composer, which certainly takes more talent and effort than acting. He was a huge talent.

  • you fill me with inertia!
