@Lightsaberstoodios no offense, but i really dont care. think you need to get your facts straight before making yourself look like a ass...that is all...
Real Marine NCO swords do not have a tassle. This is a fair quality replica at best. You buy a replica, that's exactly what you get. A cheap copy of the genuine article.
do they sell knock-offs at the Marine clothing store on base? i baught mine on base (Camp Pen)and it has 2 twisted wires on the grip, its made of brass. that i know of they sell 2 models the government issue one brass and the annodized more expensive one. i know its the real deal Marine Coprs stock item since it came in a greenish bag with the NSN on it, but what should i consider if i want a batter item. I saw some a that store on base, too. But then again, I'm not a Marine yet, and I don't really know if they were knockoffs. They looked authentic, but I don't know why a store on base would have fake swords. Good luck, Sarge.
Oh and sorry that NCO sword is a fake.... Leading edge is chamfered and no blood groove. Plus the etching is raised not etched! It's a knock off of medium quality. Not the worst I've ever seen but certainly not a good knock off. From the two authorized manufacturers of the Marine NCO Sword expect to pay $400. Less than that guarantees a knock off or a reconditioned. I recommend the German made sword. I also recommend paying $400+ for the security of knowing it's real. It's priceless.
Gunny, I'm not so certain about the 3 wire theory. The swords manufactured in spain have 3 wires, but the German manufacturers have two. We don't mention the Mexican version. Both are suppliers to the DOD and are both USMC issued. Just thought I'd add knowledge based on my research. No tassel required.... Thanks Gunny!
As gunny Wilson said, No tassel required. The Marine NCO sword is always earned Never given. Thank you for your video and obvious appreciation of this weapon. For those of us that have one, It is our most prized property. You can have the medals but please don't touch "my" sword. Mine was earned and was not given.... Thank you for those marines that made me. And you are welcome to the marines that I made. I am them and they are me..... Semper Fidelis
That is a replica! The original, real NCO saber has 3 gold wires twisted, wrapped on a sharkskin grip of the saber. Also, there is a "blood groove" down the center of the blade. The tassel is from an Army saber for officers!
