  • THAT IS SOOO SICK!!!!

  • Wow, I'm an oldschool FX artists myself-animatronic masks, muscle/hair suits, and such. But I like what I see here. Better than some stuff I see on SyFy.

  • HAHA 0:41 - 0:49 !!! AWESOME!!

I've tried many times at 3D tracking with MatchMover, PFHoe, and PFHoe Pro and it seems I can nevery get anything to work. Great job on everything!

  • AWESOME

  • epic

  • Do you used Boujou for the tracking part?

  • nice work

  • hey do you have to be a good artist to do this type of things

  • dude, if you're going to have a demo reel, atleast use some sound - and that last scene looks like a map from Call of Duty - Modern Warfar, lol - Other than that, nice work

  • Great reel !!!

  • WOW this is great! its hard to see that its CG it looks almost real!

  • You are my idol mark patty.

  • haha that pacman one was the coolest!!!

  • Love it!

  • dont say that mark. sometimes the quality of the footage just makes it more of a chalenge. and makes it more believable.

  • no wonder that the hoaxes and fakes are so real this days....

  • 3d max ?

  • modo

  • how do you do the like pass over effects?

  • Great work! You should do some tutorials, people would really appreciate it.

  • Thanks to all for the kind comments and constructive critisism. Hopefully I'll have an improved showreel to go up soon as a lot of this is getting pretty old now. The biggest downside for me was that a lot was built on poor quality video footage. With luck the next showreel should look sharper :) Cheers again guys

  • @markpatty1977 good stuff

  • @markpatty1977 looks good bro. I don't know very much about show reel but it seems like you did a good job

  • Not bad. I couldn't really see the robot looking things on the sidewalk though...

  • Great work! Very impressive!

  • great work but I just don't like the haze look. I"d love to see a clean shot without the hazy look common in alot of low-budget fx shots. Let's leave it bright and light. Other than that awesome

  • great work. good compositing and the matchmove was spot on.

  • amazing fantastic you'r is fuck great jode man.

    please tutorial.

  • Awesome...totaly awesome.

  • that is fantastic love the skeletons great job

  • nicenicenice

  • nice looks great man keep it up.

  • great

  • i did loved all of them but the first one is the best

  • Love that weird dog thing whatever it is in the beginning!

  • I hope i can get this good in the future. amazing work

  • mind blowing work ..... dude...!!! ;)

  • Did you make the dalek?

  • Yeah I made the Dalek in 3DS Max. I used images from my daughters Dr Who mag for reference.

  • Well i can say the results are fantastic, what lights did you use and how did you do the colour correction?

  • buen trabajo

  • awesome work man.....everthing is just too gud...is dere any site for raw footage 4rm where we can use them for makin demoreels...

  • Beautiful! Very good skills!!!

  • Thats impressive!!

  • Nice work, keep on bettering yourself!

  • very very great!!! good job

  • amazing work

  • nice work man, great stuff. have a look at my matchmove (and give some tips)

    thanks

  • i really liked the pac man shot.. it was really clever and creative

one question.. is syntheyes better than boujou?

  • do i see lacock abbey at the start? i live near there :) i want to learn these sorts of things but i just dont know where to begin. ive got final cut pro, after effects, premiere pro, maya, c4d... (mac) and 3ds max, after effects, premiere pro, sony vegas (windows)

  • lol @ the pacman bit

and ur modeling and texturing is great, but ur compositing is amazing

just wish they were a bit longer :[

what did u use? 3ds max or maya?

  • REALLY RAD bro! Im doing a big project and i was wandering if u could direct me to some tutorials. I know how to do the modeling good. I can do the maya live. But how do get it to look like it is really in the scene like i think its when it turns white but what do i know. If u could lead me to something that would be great and really appreciated!!

  • synth eyes looks phat. gonna get on it today..... nice work, im a graduate in animation, but my reel sucks, so im gonna do some match moving....any decent resources?

  • I found all I know about Syntheyes from the official tutorials online. I'm not an expert by any means. The software did all the hard work for me :). You should try the demo as it's fully functional apart from the export.

  • @markpatty1977 what is best syntheyes or boujou?

  • That is simply amazing. I've been dying to create a tank to implement them into my films, and the ones you made were very realistic. Amazing job, I use after effects too! AE and 3dsMAX FTW

  • dude man plz reply to me!

    how do you do that?

i have 3ds max and photoshop

how do you like make them so real?

god man can i hire you as my teacher? olol

  • Hey Shady110,

I'm real happy you like the work. The things to work on to get 3D stuff to blend well is matching the lighting, saturation, contrast and film grain. The camera angles need to match too. One other thing that some people forget is light bleed. I could go into more depth but basically it's what gives objects soft edges in photographs.

You can do this for stills within Photoshop but for video I'd recommend a program like After effects, Combustion, Fusion or Shake.

  • oh ok thanks

  • Hey Bluegamer, you'll prob find the programs I use in an earlier comment. I use 3D Studio Max, Zbrush, Syntheyes, Premiere, Final Cut, Photoshop and possibly a few more.

As Niicuk says though PFTrack, Maya, Fusion and Shake are all used more in the visual effects industry. The software I'm using will do the job but 3D Studio Max is more commonly used in games and visualisation.

Hope that helps. I'd recommend Maya and Shake/Fusion if you want a job doing this stuff.

  • oh ok thanks yeah ill check that out

  • wow just amazing hey what kinda programs r you using? sorry just getting into this kinda stuff

  • A fair few choices but my approach would have been... Photoshop, PFTrack, Maya, Fusion (or Shake)

    Really well done stuff. Congrats

  • Thanks very much for the comments guys. Really appreciated :)

  • :D amazing stuff. I would do this but I dont have the money do get these programs right now lol

  • You really need to make the shots last longer. Your work is really good but there's not enough time to look at it.

  • Hey SnipaMasta,

thanks for your comment. I originally compressed the footage for web to run at 15 fps (frames per second) when uploaded to youtube it runs at either 25 or 30 fps so is almost twice as fast as it should be. I'll upload it again soon so you can have a better look.

    thanks :)

  • looks amazing, really great work. pac-man is just briliant.

may i ask you what kind of motion tracking software and 3d package you use?

  • ..no need to answer, just found out in the "About this Video" info :-P

  • that is the most life like stuff i have ever seen. the daleks were the best though.

  • Thanks OwenDWF! Always nice to hear comments like that.

  • Do u need to learn to use it? lol joking zzz, btw is programming language vital for the software?

  • lol, takes a while to learn but programming isn't vital. You can do huge amounts without any coding at all. Coding has many uses but you could do everything I've done on my showreel without it :)

  • very nice work

  • That is amazing work. From an artistic and technical viewpoint. I have had Maya for the longest my modeling leaves much to be desired...I guess just practice practice practice. Thanks for posting!!!

  • Thanks Donald. I was using 3D software for about three to four years before I did anything that I was remotely pleased with. It probably would've taken a third of the time if it wasn't all self taught and I had more time.

Keep practising. Most people could do this with enough time

  • Very good work! I should try some compositing, too... Maybe someday ^^ Oh and please use the reply button to answer comments, so people get notified :)

  • Thanks for the kind comments to everyone. Definitely try compositing if you get a chance. Maybe not for everybody but I love it! Sorry I didn't realise that I needed to use the reply button for people to get notified. Don't get much chance to use youtube.

  • Wow Amazing...Really cool work man. keep up the good work(Y)!!!!5/5.

  • Wow, quick shots, to the point. Very Nice! I love the Pac Man bit- still chuckling. Great body of work!

  • very nice reel! Your camera is not so smooth, but the rest is just flawless!

  • amazing stuff. i want to know how to do this ^_^

  • Thanks. I used 3D Studio max for all the 3D. Premiere for the editing, Combustion for blending the 3D and video footage and I used Syntheyes for the camera matching. I also used Photoshop for texturing and Zbrush and Mudbox for a bit of model sculpting.

    I hope that helps :)

  • wow, you used about 15 gb of programs^^

I guess you're not rich, and you're not getting this on your job?

  • What is your point? Are you saying he's used bootleg software. Okay if he did so what. If it wasn't for bootleg software most people could not afford to learn and even get a job later. When you make enough you buy the app. This guy has done movie quality work giving us all something too shoot for in our own work. I'm inspired. Anyway I noticed someone did you a -1 for your comment I guess we're not sure what you're point is. Maybe you don't mean anything.

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one confused by this comment. Just to clarify, I work at a college as a media technician with access to most of this software. The rest I've purchased. I learn them to better support students.

I do however support Donald in that almost every student I work with downloads dodgy software to learn. For most that is the only way. Even educational pricing on this lot would top £1000. Out of the range of most learners! You must buy if you're making money from them though!

  • True;) Don't misunderstand me, I meant it as a joke:P If you though I was a 40yr old who's against bootleg software, then you're wrong;)

Without It, I would not be half as experiences as I am now^^

  • hey, shill the fuck out man! It was meant as a joke ffs! HOw do you think I've learnt Photoshop and stuff like that? Geez..

  • So you have bootleg Photoshop...your IP has been reported to the software police!!! You know what...gonna let you off with a warning this time!!! Delete all your bootleg software!!! Okay no prob either way. Happy monday!!!

  • puh, thanks for the warning;)

  • I've lost who's talking to who. Anyway I'm glad you both seem to like the reel despite any missunderstandings :)

    Cheers guys!

  • cool what programs did you use?

  • Many thanks Fraust66 for your kind comment. I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

  • Exellent modeling & animations Mark.I appreciate the time and effort you have put into your showreel. Thanks for showing it.
