@ferry7777 Yes really - God Loves you - that's why Jesus came to earth as a man. God doesn't want ANYONE to go to hell! Honestly. God wants us to be right with Him but we mess up. The result of that should be punishment - ultimately hell - but God knew we couldn't get it right so he sent Jesus to us, to tell us that if we trust in Him and ask for forgiveness for messing up then we could go to heaven. Jesus then took our punishment himself - he died on that cross for You!

A serious skeptic would refute all four parts of your lecture by simply stating that no extra-biblical contemporary sources exist to attempt to prove the existence of jesus ala the historical method. Every single one of your sources is a non-contemporary source of at least 25 years which is useless to us. What's more is that you fail to make a case for Jesus of Nazareth's existence.

If you take a lot of easy-to-disprove arguments of the other side and disprove them, the audience is gonna think you side of the coin is the true one. But there are many others, harder to disprove arguments. Just ask Dawkins, Hawking and many more. They ask questions that no theologian seems to have go on answering them. I love the way this aurthor twists the language of the writings to support his point of view. As most "christians" do with anything outside of thier biblical sources. I also like the fact that the author admits that those "christians" that denied thier faith would eventually TURN BACK to paganism. I think there is no question to his existence, but I think there is question as to his teachings. My thought is more of a "Life of Brian" thing. And for such a "historical figure" there appears much inference with No first had accounts (ie. finding those who actually met him and record their accounts). None of which was done....

Something that's always fascinated me about the argument of whether Jesus really existed. No one doubts that Plato existed yet there's more evidence to support Jesus's existence, than Plato's. Now it's just my opinion but, it only took a little research to see that a reasonable person would probably believe that Jesus probably did exist. Was He the Son of God? Did He do miracles? Is the New Testament a true story? To answer that, will take a different kind of research but I think it can be done.

1st, I don't believe we can use physical tests to prove spiritual things. So I look for things in the story that "can" be verified. Like prophesies or accurate scientific information. IE: Ecclesiastes 1:6 or historic information like Matthew 22:21. But the spiritual stuff?...It finally occurred to me one day that it might take something different to solve that. So I started researching things like NDEs, dreams, astrology, giants, UFOs. It's weird stuff but I'm starting to see a common link.
