Chrysler was offered sponsorship of THE $64,000 QUESTION, but turned it down...the company feared the assembly line workers would demand raises if they saw their employer handing out big cash prizes.
After only his first scene in this program I can say that this is the most disturbing character I've ever seen Vincent Price play. Very bold TV fare. Looking forward to finding out now what happens next.
Thursday nights at 8:30pm(et) on CBS in the mid-'50s was Chrysler's "big" anthology showcase, "CLIMAX!" (alternating with their monthly "SHOWER OF STARS" variety specials). Here's a "typical" offering from around the start of the 1955-'56 season....
@fromthesidelines That season they also sponsored a goofy sitcom on NBC about a pair of bachelor boys called IT'S A GREAT LIFE...."It's a great life when you drive the 1956 PowerStyle Chrysler".
Chrysler, through their Plymouth division, sponsored "IT'S A GREAT LIFE" from 1954 through '56, 'tom'.
