This one and "Hyde and Hare" with Bugs Bunny use to scare the shit out of me when I was a child (especially the Bugs cartoon). Heck, Daffy is CREEPY in this one!
can someone explain why the authorities "mmmmmyea?" at 4:01 always makes me laugh? as well as porky's 2 "yeeeee" when he relizes daffy is the phone or the cigars explode?
I just love this cartoon!<3 Daffy looks very classy in this! He has that charm that keeps his cartoons timeless! I love all their facial expressions in this short and also it´s cute how small Daffy is compared to Porky:)
"What a scaredy-cat. Anyone who'd be scared of a masquerade costume is a c-craven little coward. (sees self in mirror) AHHH!! S-So I'm a c-craven little coward."
FYI: This was released as a Looney Tune in 1951, when it was re-released as a "Blue Ribbon" it was titled as a Merrie Melody, which frequently occurred.
@zafrisuhaidi: What year was this cartoon released? I like the look of the houses back in the old days. It looks Porky Pig has a very cozy house. He even has a vase of flowers on his kitchen table. It's very charming. I wish my house was old-fashioned like that.
@LaoSoftware This cartoon was released in 1951. It was one of the last cartoons where Daffy Duck is a screwball and they made him Bugs Bunny's selfish rival.
McKimson's unit took the longest to get on board with the new Daffy characterization. His Daffy was still acting somewhat screwy even in the late 50s, even though he'd calmed down a lot by then. But I don't think he really got going with "mean and greedy" Daffy until the early 60s. (And Freleng didn't do much with Daffy at all during this period anyway, come to think of it. But he definitely started reflecting Jones's changes before McKimson did.)
"But if some wiseguy starts pushing me around, look... out! I turn into a hideous monster!!"

Wow...u know if he really did have 2 personalities then that might beat the actual Dr. Jekel and Hyde. Still, Daffy's Hyde character is creepy.
