where as part three was not released until 1990 so I dont think they where thinking about part three.

No one and I mean no one plays a man against all odds better than Al Pacino. From films like "Serprico", "Dog Day Afternoon" and "Scarface" to "The Godfather" trilogy Al Pacino was second to none in portraying this type of character.

The GF2 is fuckin amazing yo! I love every frame. Same with Part 1. I love the tragedy that is Michael. I mean its sad but it makes for great drama. As 4 part faggot ass 3...It doesn't exist. In my mind The godfather saga ends with 2 & it's a mystery as to what happens to these characters in their later lives. 4 me this is the final chapter

It's the first time two different actors have won awards for playing Vito Corleone. Maybe the only time. Al Pacino was nominated twice for playing Micheal. A nom for best supporting in part one, best lead for II. That's never happened either. I can't believe he didn't win one until Scent of a Woman.

It wasnt really a sequel It's more of a companion to the original since they where both made around the same time much like Superman and Superman 2 also both screenplayed by Mario Puzo

The first one are the best but I saw this on vhs that a friend of mine let me borrow and... Ill have to admit,I liked it better. However, I liked this 1x better then the first(after hearing that it won 6 academy awards). still a classic sequel. :-)

I liked them all, I don't think it necessarily had to stop at II. But Coppola's daughter clearly did not fit. I wonder sometimes how the 1st and 2nd Godfather films were even made being as authentic and powerful as they were. I guess it's just progress.

cmon dude. sofia coppola probably had the worst performance in a movie i've ever seen. part II cheesy? no way. coppola was brilliant to show a prequel, and a sequel to the outstanding original film. deniro was top notch as a young vito corleone. they made a mistake making part 3. andy garcia was the only good part of that movie. even pacino was subpar in part 3. i disagree with you entirely, but it's your opinion, so all i can do is reply
