  • MG42...

  • Thank you for the GREAT video!! From Silvanus, the American-Italian-Pole from Detroit. Sivanus was the Roman diety of forest & filed, so I guess I 'own' all the forests & fields, at least maybe in Roman times anyway! %-) Grazi! Dzie kuje bardzo! Tanks again!!!

  • Waht some people don't know about the Italian military is distressing. It is the same as saying the Sherman was lousy whne it was in fact a good solid tank, & the later models did not burn due to bad ammo storage like the early ones.. The long 76mm on the Sherman was better than the USSR 85mm, & the USSR military stated this, especially when firing HVAP ammo it could knock out a panther or Tiger I on the turret front at up to ~1,000m, but not penetrate the glacis plate.

  • Italian 90mm Flak was a wee bit better than German Flak 88mmm I do believe, in both the AA & AT role, & truck mounted 90's were used in N. Africa, Sicily & Italy effectively. They also had some older 75mm AA guns truck mounted that were passable for AT work. HESH rounds were also used & 100mm HE arty. rounds without fuses were used in the AT role, & they could crack open the front of a T-34 & Sherman with little trouble. Germans & Allies were impressed.

  • By the time of the Italian armistice in mid 1943, the Italians had produced over 200 Semovente 75/18 on the M13-40-41 chassis, over 200 S. 75/34 (longer higher velocity gun), & 24 S. long 105mm, along with a few SP 90mm Flak/AT & 149mm guns on the M15-42 chassis. Germans kept the 75/34, 105, & I believe the 90 & 149 in production & also used a few 75/32 barrels (I have the production figures), 7 the P40 tank with 75mm was also produced (80 or so).

  • It's incredible to see Semoventes in action.

  • after casserin battle patton bloched el nayir passage and destroeyd the 88's with 150 mm artilliery.. patton read romel and turned him back to kirinia

  • you know what made you in ww2 right? you know what happened in the albanian front right ?

  • italians cause the ww2 been lost for germany.

1- because italy couldnt invade yugoslavia hitler must stop the invasion to urss bringing suport to italy.

2- germany spends a lots of resource to help italy.

3-italy couldnt fight against a buch of british scums in the desert so hitler send afrika korps to do what the italians supose to do.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheCallofpripyat You're mixing two different points who delayed Barbarossa operation; Italy invaded Greece Not Yugoslavia, Yugoslavia had some insurgence situation who had nothing to do with Italy. But yes, delay Barbarossa were the worst mistake of Hitler.

  • poar ignorant, nothing more, ciao ciao cretino

  • ignorant 2 times!! the germans and the austrian were togheter in 1ww, under the same flag, the austrian empire.

And after Caporetto we won the austrian army because we used clever tactics.

    Ignorante cretino

  • idiot! the italian army won the first ww and entered in Salzburg before every other army!!

    Study more ignorant

  • the problem is that is unfair if you say that italy scores bad in WWI because scores exactly like all the allied nations if not better than some.. Austra capitulate after vittorio veneto (germany didn't capitulate on the western front) it's the only central power witch capitulate after a major battle (battle of vittorio veneto)

  • @Grendo147

i WW1 i really don't think so.... remeber that after and before caporetto yitalian forces achieves victories such as the conquest of gorizia and the battle of vittorio veneto and piave river... ernest hemingway fought on the italian front in WW1 and wrote about italian bravery. take a look to his books

  • FOLGORE!!!

  • my grandad was eighth army, god rest his soul! my nan never saw him for about three to three and a half years!

  • italiani coraggiosi, inglesi merdosi !

  • @assopasso DICIAMO CHE HANNO COMPIUTO IL LORO DOVERE !

SENZA ARMI MODERNE SENZA RIFORNIMENTI E UN PO DURA FAR LA GUERRA

DOPO ERAN AGLI ORDINI DI CERTE TESTE::::::

  • THE PARATROOPERS OF DIVISION FOLGORE (italians)

Winston Churchill speech to the Chamber, Nov. 21 1942:"We really must bow in front of the rest of those who have been the lions of the Folgore Division"

London Radio transmitted the famous official announcement:The remnants of the Folgore division put up a resistance beyond every limit of human possibility. ps. remebers FOLGOREEEE!!!!!!

  • Dont know about the brave fight of folkore division or whatever,, but never heard 1 battle italians won in ww2:-) better known by running fast or surrendering :-)

  • That only shows how ignorant you are, i'm afraid.

The italians soldiers had obsolete weapons, lacked equipment and supplies (reason why Italy had little success in the war) and still they held untill they were overrun both in North Africa and in Russia (and were afterwards left behind to cover the retreat in both occasion).

Maybe you care to give me some evidence about the Italian army surrendering without a fight, no matter how desperate?

Cause I can give you plenty of the opposite...

  • KESSERINE PASS

  • i not war

  • 0:28 min. It;s german PaK 38 50 mm AT gun.

  • I'm sorry, but there are some mistakes in your description, all the weapon shown in the video are italian weapon and not germans

  • im doing a report on el alamein with a friend and we cannot find the reasons for this battle.

  • El Alamein was not just one battle, but a number of battles. The reason why was that the Italians invaded the continent of Africa, Britain defended Egypt, the Germans later helped the Italians, and the Commonwealth troops like Rhodesia and India were helping the British. Eventually they all met at El Alamein for the deciding battles. Italy and Germany were defeated there by the British and Commonwealth troops.

  • Americans were not at Al Alemain...

They came after and got beaten by Rommel

in Rommels last battels in North Afrika at

Sidi Bu Sid and especialy Kassarine Pass...

  • MY DAD WAS 8TH ARMED 7 DIVISION

  • last i was in north africa, and i saw broken tanks and other things of war. the today livings beduins built of the war matreal houses and flats for him...hahha

  • i know they said something about americans but the americans wernt there in el alemain

  • Nope but they landed in the West beches of North Africa, if I recall right, in Algeria. So the Afrika Korps are corned by Commonwealth forces (mainly brits) in the east and Americans in the west.

  • for domthegood

  • Great video man. Thank's for posting

  • Germans lost 16 000 men in north Africa but 4.5 million in east.

  • thank you for posting this footage - it is of high quality

  • El Alamein: the Italians were lions!

  • Oh please tell me you are being sarcastic! Pllleeeaaase!

  • No he's not, it's actually true, it was Churchill who referred to them as the lions of the forgore as a lot of them fought to the death even though they had virtually no equipment.

  • Lie? so you think Churchill did'nt refer to them as the Lions of the Folgore then? if they were so crap at el alamein why did he give them this compliment? a joke perhaps? why dont you look up what equipment the italians had at the time of the battle or better still watch the movie el alamein by enzo monteleone

  • They had plenty of mobile assets, while Italians lacked motorisation and the light tanks they had could be penetrated by rifle bullets, still they fought, the "medium" tanks could be stopped by Boyes rifles, notoriously useless in every other theatre of war. Italian guns OTOH could do nothing to stop the few Matildas the british had and which proved almost always decisive.

  • Please learn some history before posting comments. You are obviously ignorant. At El Alamein one Italian paratroop division (La Folgore) held back many more British divisions to cover Rommel's retreat.

  • marm. This is true. My father fought in the desert, and the Italians overran the Divisional HQ - he was in Divisional Signals. He was impressed with them.

  • La Folgore or 185th Infantry Division fought bravely they only had light AT guns which they used to destroy tanks that advanced along the narrow paths cleared through the minefields that protected their position.

  • Onore ai nostri soldati troppo spesso ignorati dai documenti storici!

  • Also the semovente da 75 is not very common to be seen in footages :)
