@DrakeClawfang While Laguna is a weird choice (As opposed to Zell or Irvine or Quistis, he's probably just butthurt because Vincent's not in the game.
Well, I only have one thing to say: Putting certain Final Fantasy in Dissidia can NEVER disgrace the series, because they, well... they are all Final Fantasy characters. Even though some of them aren't as loved by the majority as others, the fact alone that there were people who like them and bought the game is enough, I think. Saying that a certain character sucks is your opinion and shouldn't be said for all Final Fantasy fans. As for me, there's barely a single FF character I don't like.
I can't really blame Square's choice of attacks for Laguna as he only had like two different attacks in FF VIII... Actually I find it kinda funny, and as Laguna is a funny character it all makes sense!
I miss some kind of "ache in my knee" attack though...
Force Your Way, prolly one of the better Final Fantasy Boss Themes. I believe The Black Mages did a remix of it. Pretty awesome stuff. Pity FF8 was so Mediocre.
@DrakeClawfang Yes, that's what I said. Maybe its just me, but I find it silly to pull a miniature spaceship out of lord knows where and firing lasers out of it. He might as well pull a flying saucer out of his ass while he's at it, because that's essentially what he's doing. I definitely had a WTF moment.

@FitoSaav I think you totally missed what I was talking about. It's that one particular weapon that I find completely absurd. I just don't like the idea of taking a large and grand ship, then shrinking it and using it as a weapon. But that's just me.
As of the moment, I know nothing about Vaan, Firion DOES need to lighten the load, and Gilgamesh isn't even human, so he has the capacity to efficiently wield multiple weapons.

@McCoy196 I can understand the sentiment. I don't understand the hype around VII. Can't count the number of things I like about VIII. The Ragnarok is definitely one of them, for the design and the amazing music that plays whenever you fly in it. God I could listen to that for hours. From the SNES generation I like IV and VI (ironic symmetry there), even though I've never actually played either. Those are two of the games I enjoyed watching a close friend play. I hope I haven't been rude to you.
@shinobi67 VII is a bunch of bull to me. i hate it because of the characters primarily. I like II pretty well, as well as IV, although my only problem with IV is how people keep "dying" and are somehow alive. That I don't get (How does Cid jump off an airship with a bomb and survive?) If you can play IV on the DS, its pretty fun, its a good 3D variation of IV, though probably harder from what I hear. You haven't been, no harm done.

@McCoy196 Well, I suppose upon reading it that joke might seem a bit... childish. I'll admit that. Not my best work. However, addressing your point, (as a person who has indeed played VIII. Several times in fact), it DOES sort of make sense, in a way. The Ragnarok was a ship from Esthar after all, so it's not that much of a stretch to assume that after the events of VIII, the scientists there analyzed it and... made weapons from it. As for why he can use all of them... he's just that awesome?
@shinobi67 Well, I understand that the Ragnarok was, obviously, a large, war-like ship. Personally, of all airships or any flying vehicle of the FF series, I think the Ragnarok is the most impressive. And this is just my viewpoint, but if I had a magnificent ship like that, I wouldn't want to be carrying around a gun that looks like my ship. It would feel silly to me. Like carrying around a mini Enterprise around on Star Trek as a weapon. Like I said, that's just me, I find it weird.

You are talking about absurdity in a game that is essentially a crossover of many of the games of a series called Final FANTASY. From my experience, in order to truly enjoy such games, logic should take a backseat.
I love my share of protagonists and villains here and there, but I'm loving the choices Square-Enix made with these supporting characters. Tifa? Laguna? Yuna? Flippin' Kain?! FREAKIN' GILGAMESH!??! I'm really excited about this game! And it's only $29.99! What with the extra characters, new stages and music, that price is a steal! :D
I honestly think this is an improvement on the old system, but it definatly needs more. For one, more attack variety would be nice. Another thing, multi player battles, like 3 on 3 like a real fight would be in this game, instead of just assists alone. Another thing, instead of just manikins, I think on the world map in the main game you should be able to fight with monsters as well, to add variety. The only game got predictable because of the lack of variety
@sonne2 I thought FFVII's battle theme was one of the weaker ones, personally... Still, J-E-N-O-V-A got in, even if it's not quite as good a remake as you might hope. Needs a stronger bass, in my opinion.

Laguna is one of the easiest characters to use in dissidia he's one of my new fave's i love the ricochet attack and the sticky bomb.
on another note there's a pt. in the game were lightning is talking about being ashamed of something. i don't remember what,
but i remember thinking i'd be hiding my head in shame to. . . .
especially after being in XIII in all.
that was a pretty bad game.
there's no excuse that could possibly rectify that game.

@McCoy196 It's alright. I apologize for going off the deep end in my response. I suppose I don't like having my intelligence insulted, especially when it comes to a game I hold close to my heart (large fandom disapproval and incredibly broken junction systems aside). Please feel free to take the other two posts as you will, perhaps as my own personal opinion of the Laguna matter. You seem to be a very courteous and intelligent individual. A rare and dying breed these days.

@shinobi67 Although I feel that the Final Fantasy series died when it went to Playstation, VIII is actually my favorite (ironic, I know.)

@McCoy196 I can understand the sentiment. I don't understand the hype around VII. Can't count the number of things I like about VIII. The Ragnarok is definitely one of them, for the design and the amazing music that plays whenever you fly in it. God I could listen to that for hours. From the SNES generation I like IV and VI (ironic symmetry there), even though I've never actually played either. Those are two of the games I enjoyed watching a close friend play. I hope I haven't been rude to you.

@shinobi67 VII is a bunch of bull to me. i hate it because of the characters primarily. I like II pretty well, as well as IV, although my only problem with IV is how people keep "dying" and are somehow alive. That I don't get (How does Cid jump off an airship with a bomb and survive?) If you can play IV on the DS, its pretty fun, its a good 3D variation of IV, though probably harder from what I hear. You haven't been, no harm done.

@McCoy196 Well, I suppose upon reading it that joke might seem a bit... childish. I'll admit that. Not my best work. However, addressing your point, (as a person who has indeed played VIII. Several times in fact), it DOES sort of make sense, in a way. The Ragnarok was a ship from Esthar after all, so it's not that much of a stretch to assume that after the events of VIII, the scientists there analyzed it and... made weapons from it. As for why he can use all of them... he's just that awesome?

@shinobi67 Well, I understand that the Ragnarok was, obviously, a large, war-like ship. Personally, of all airships or any flying vehicle of the FF series, I think the Ragnarok is the most impressive. And this is just my viewpoint, but if I had a magnificent ship like that, I wouldn't want to be carrying around a gun that looks like my ship. It would feel silly to me. Like carrying around a mini Enterprise around on Star Trek as a weapon. Like I said, that's just me, I find it weird.

@McCoy196 And perhaps I shall regret this last post, but I do feel as if I deserve some sort of compensation for being called a bastard. You are talking about absurdity in a game that is essentially a crossover of many of the games of a series called Final FANTASY. From my experience, in order to truly enjoy such games, logic should take a backseat.

I love my share of protagonists and villains here and there, but I'm loving the choices Square-Enix made with these supporting characters. Tifa? Laguna? Yuna? Flippin' Kain?! FREAKIN' GILGAMESH!??! I'm really excited about this game! And it's only $29.99! What with the extra characters, new stages and music, that price is a steal! :D

I honestly think this is an improvement on the old system, but it definatly needs more. For one, more attack variety would be nice. Another thing, multi player battles, like 3 on 3 like a real fight would be in this game, instead of just assists alone. Another thing, instead of just manikins, I think on the world map in the main game you should be able to fight with monsters as well, to add variety. The only game got predictable because of the lack of variety

@sonne2 I thought FFVII's battle theme was one of the weaker ones, personally... Still, J-E-N-O-V-A got in, even if it's not quite as good a remake as you might hope. Needs a stronger bass, in my opinion.
I'd like to hear 'Roar of the Battle Drums' from FFXI make it in. Never played the game, but I heard that tune, and it is CATCHY...

@adeckofplayingcards Nah; if another FFXIII character gets it, it'll have to be a villain; Barthandelus, perhaps. I mean, we already have a monk-style character in Tifa.
I wonder if a character from FFXIV will get in as a secret character? I've never played any of the MMORPGs, but, I mean, Shantotto and Gabranth snuck in for the first game...

@VergilownsDante Is that what you really think? :/ I personally think that Yuna's at the bottom, she just seems like normal Yuna that we saw in FF10. Atleast Tifa has lost her memory or something along those lines, it gives her a little more back story, that's how I look at it anyway. Saying that though, the character I'm really looking forward to is Laguna ^.^

Also on a positive note, Laguna is amazing. no, not jus tbecause hes a guy, but his move list seems unreal after watching more videos of him. still very unimpressed with that XIIIth' harlot though. very generic at this point in the FF series. Vaan is even worse. Kain and Tifa out beat them all though. also proof im not sexist for those who called me that. i like tifa so yeah...

Do they utilize the apparent fact that Lightning's weapon is apparently a non-FF8 gunblade? (as in, can it switch between a gun mode & sword mode?)

@Kytseo yes it can, she can attack with the blade, and when shooting, it becomes in gun mode.
however, it becomes a blade again as soon as the attack ends
