  • thumbs up if you got sent here by a stoner. or if your high.

  • Heh... "Ramond" Scott.

  • dang those LSD sugarcubes were potent!

  • It's great that Jim Henson made money and fame with the Muppets.

It would have been phenomenal if he explored the artistic, experimental side more.

Too bad he passed before he had the chance.

  • holy crap

  • rather odd seeing Jon Stone without a beard!

  • Gotta get me some-a-that coffee!

I <3 Jim Henson. His works intertwined with so much of my childhood, and they are with me today.

  • The pianist in the picture at 0:36 is legendary English musician George Shearing, in fact, this picture was for the cover of his 1950's release "The Shearing Piano".

  • Raymond Scott - a true genius

  • hmmm, Visionary or...

smoking something? it WAS the 60's, you know.

  • Unlikely sense Hensen was a practicing Christian Scientist.

  • Agreed.

  • He was raised christian scientist, but was not practicing.

  • But he still practiced many of their principles- abstaining from recreational drugs was one of them.

  • Can you present any evidence to back up that statement? RotaPlasmX

  • Yes. The fact that he refused to seek medical treatment for a serious illness which eventually killed him is pretty strong evidence that he still held with Christian scientist ideas. He distrusted doctors and only went to the hospital when his condition got really serious. Tragically, as we all know, it was too late. I really miss this guy. A true genius and a beautiful artist.

  • If that's your only evidence, then you need to re-evaluate your stance. He absolutely did NOT refuse to seek medical treatment. He was actually sent home by the doctors because THEY felt it was not serious. The next day he was coughing up blood and went back, but it was too late. Jim Henson's death is entirely the fault of negligence on the part of the doctors, not his own.

  • Jeez! OK! Drop it. He wasn't a practicing CS. Whatever.Damn! Relax a little. Practicing/not practicing, it doesn't change the fact that he was an amazing artist who brought joy and wonder to millions and that he left our earthly dimension too soon.

  • It's ok dude. I'm not trying to bust your balls, I just want to make sure we aren't perpetuating any urban legends. I do agree with you though that he was a genius and a beautiful artist regardless of any drugs he did or didn't take. He is one of my heroes.

  • Totally. Only reporting what I heard/read. I'd rather Jim be remember as a laid back Christian Scientist than a stoned out hippy cliche making wild experimental cinema anyday. That's the only point I was tryin' to make. Peace brother.

  • Well he wouldn't be a cliche regardless. You have to remember that being a hippy originally meant following your own path without any regard for cultural norms. It wasn't until the whole Peace and Love idea was hijacked by commercialism that it became a cliche.

  • Well said.

  • try being hung over from drugs and holding your hand in the air for 7 hours at a time each day.

    On drugs? grow up people!

  • This is proof that Henson's genius goes far deeper than the Muppets. The Dark Crystal was one of the greatest achievements in cinema history. Henson's story telling is on par with the greatest directors, but will never be recognized with them. Jim, your life was too short. You are missed.

  • we miss you, jim henson.

  • came 4 the ripples

    it m8 some splash

    like this !

    and this !

    and th!s i

  • The Muppets were both a blessing and a curse; most people don't know the depth of his artistic genius. This film is only the surface...

  • I wonder if there was any acid on that sugar cube. You know Jim probibly came up with the muppets in the fit of a major trip. If not the muppets than at least The Dark Crystal.

Seriously though Jim Henson deeply effected my childhood and holds a very high place in my spectrum of enjoyables. Rest in Peace Jim.

  • it's great to have grown up loving this guy for the amazing puppetry/filmmaking and then find that he has this depth of artistic ability, i truly admire his work :)

  • ya henson was a poet and i guess him and raymond scott were pretty close?

  • Jim's deep side

  • wow, i thought he was all puppets and muppets but he's really deep.

  • that guy had the kind of creativity that moves mountains and time piece is the best way to look into his mind but this has a different ring to it. It has science and the one minute it lasts is still priceless

  • it has the same feel as timepeice

  • I take it that was not the entire film

  • Actually, it is.

  • Time magazine ranked Jim Henson as one the 100 most important people of the 20th century, and here you see why. Not was he a great performer, but he was also a brilliant and innovative filmmaker. What a mind.

  • Yes, I second that. Jim Henson was a truly visionary artist. We were so lucky to experience his creativity through film, puppetry and storytelling. It's great that his early films are posted here!

  • Excellent, thanks.

  • Thanks so much for posting this! Very interesting, and very cool!

  • this shit is fuckin amazing.....thank you

  • Raymond Scott? Is this the same Raymond Scott that composed "Power House"?

  • probally. Raymond Scott is the founder of electronic music practically.

  • Definitely Raymond Scott. The soundtrack is on the 2-cd set of his stuff, "Manhattan Research, Inc."

  • Wow. I had never even heard of this. Thanks for putting it up.
