Actually this is possible with Asteroid 2005 U55 which is due

to come within Earth's moon orbit in November 2011.

If it passes very near Earth at 30,000mph or more, it could

do a "skip" off either our atmosphere or ocean, like a

rock thrown sideways into a lake.

Anyhow the Earth is 8,000 miles in diameter so at

even 25,000 mph, (slow for a celestial object), it would

pass in a matter of a few minutes; giving everyone a

chance to say a big "WHEW!" And thank God, of course!

Apophis is a peanut looking meteor that is not that large actually, it has a VERY low chance hitting earth and it will soon pass us between the moon and earth.

If it did make impact is will most likely hit the oceanic area around Australia (not confirmed)

Also the area of crater will replicate the size of India, and will not make that great of a impact on the other side of the earth but a great deal of pollution, for the well being there is only a 2.7% chance of hitting us so relax lol.
